1. Release Overview

1.1 Overview
Release 6.2 consists of software that supports 50 Series stations and 70 Series stations (including
Server 70). For detail, see V6.2 Release Features, Configurations, Questions and Answers for Nodebus
and Ethernet (B0193WP). V6.2 is not available for AP20, PW, Model 50 or Model 51 Style A: for
those stations, install V6.1 or V6.1.1 instead.
The I/A Series V6.2 software either updates your V4.2.4, V6.0, V6.1 or V6.1.x system or is the
initial set of software for a new system. If you are upgrading an older system (prior to
V4.2.3/V6.0), Foxboro recommends that you upgrade to V4.2.4 first so you can evaluate control
changes, then upgrade to V6.2.
The V6.2 package includes the information and items necessary for the successful installation of
new Model 51 stations, for the upgrade of 50 Series stations and 70 Series stations. V6.2 UNIX
Upgrade Considerations (B0193YE) addresses upgrades and the minimum hardware requirements
for 50 Series stations. V6.2 Windows NT Upgrade Considerations (B0400AF) addresses upgrades
and the minimum hardware requirements for Model 70 stations.
If you are installing software for the Server 70, read “Server 70 System Setup” on page 25. For
70 Series documents, see the “Preface” on page vii of this document.

5. Configure your specific control, user interface displays and support processes.
6. Begin operation.

NOTE
Please check the Foxboro Company Service web site for software patches. Point
your browser to www.csc.foxboro.com Select Recommended Quick Fixes for
Version 6.2.

1.1.2 Upgrades
If you have stations currently at V4.2.4, V6.0, V6.1 or V6.1.x, thoroughly review this document
and V6.2 UNIX Upgrade Considerations (B0193YE) or V6.2 Windows NT Upgrade
Considerations (B0400AF) prior to beginning the upgrade. The information can help you make
major decisions, such as whether or not the CPs remain in operation during the Day 0, how to
minimize the impact of software compatibility issues, and how to perform the appropriate prein-
stallation, installation and postinstallation steps. When in doubt regarding any part of the
upgrade, contact the Customer Satisfaction Center at the numbers listed in the “Preface” on
page vii.

1.1.3 Upgrade and Compatibility Issues

During the upgrade from V4.2.X, V6.0, V6.1 releases to V6.2, some compatibility issues exist.
Key issues are outlined below. For additional details, see “Interoperability Issues” in V6.2 UNIX
Upgrade Considerations (B0193YE).
For upgrade and compatibility issues relating to Windows NT, see “Interoperability Issues” in
V6.2 Windows NT Upgrade Considerations (B0400AF).

1.1.4 User Notes

1.1.4.1 New Backup and Restore Utilities Available at V6.2

New backup and restore procedures are available for V6.2. These procedures require access to
4 mm tape drives or the AIT tape drive. See “Backup and Restore Utilities (supersede dmp and
restore utilities)” in V6.2 UNIX Upgrade Considerations (B0193YE) for instructions on using the
new utilities.

2
1. Release Overview B0193YD – Rev D

1.1.4.2 RAID Support for 50 Series and 70 Series Stations

RAID is available for AP and AW stations. Redundant Array of Independent Disks Installation
Instructions (B0193XU) applies except for two cases: installation, and backup and restoration pro-
cedures.
♦ Follow the installation notes in “50 Series Day 0 CD-ROM Procedure for Stations
with RAID Subsystems” in V6.2 UNIX Installation Procedures (B0193YF).
♦ Follow the backup and restore_raid instructions found in “Backup and Restore Utili-
ties (supersede dmp and restore utilities)” in V6.2 UNIX Upgrade
Considerations (B0193YE).
Server 70 stations support a RAID1 or RAID5 external drive configuration and an internal
RAID1 or RAID10 drive configuration. Refer to the documents listed in the “Preface” on page vii
for Server 70 installation and backup and restore information.

1.1.4.3 Allen-Bradley™ Printer Message Time Stamp Defect

At the start of a new year, time stamps on printer messages read 23:60:14 for Allen-Bradley
stations.
This defect is part of the Allen-Bradley (A-B) OS9 operating system and Foxboro has no plans to
have Allen-Bradley fix this defect at this time.

1.1.4.4 Control Processor 60 (CP60)

1.1.4.4.1 Cannot Connect Cables
Cables P0916DA.A and P0916FG.A do not fit in slot 3 when FCMs are in slots 1 and 2, and
they do not fit in slot 1 of recessed mounting brackets. The cables are being redesigned.

1.1.4.4.2 Rebooting the CP60 After a Power Failure

After a power failure, sometimes a CP60 (that is, one half, or possibly both sides, of a fault-
tolerant pair) does not reboot correctly. If this occurs, a manual reset correctly reboots the station.

1.1.4.4.3 System Monitor Failure

If your CP60 has a large number of FBMs generating many system error messages, the System
Monitor might go gray, followed by the “System Monitor has lost communications” message.
This failure is caused by significant increases in message activity, a problem aggravated in V6.2 by
CP60’s potential of having more ECBs on-line than previous CPs.
No workaround is available at this time. Reboot the host station to recover.

1.1.4.4.4 CP60 Fault-Tolerant Errors

Putting a new FCM on-line in CP60 causes fault-tolerant errors. Several hot remarries are forced,
leading to the failure of fault-tolerance. The CP60 does not stay married if the FCM is not physi-
cally present.

1.1.4.4.5 Moving FCMs or Changing FCM letterbugs

The CP60 communicates with FCMs using Ethernet addresses read from the FCM’s rom. If an
FCM is moved or its letterbug is changed, this can create a situation where the CP60 attempts to
communicate with two or more FCMs with the same Ethernet address. The typical problem sce-
nario arises during testing with limited hardware. A single pair of FCMs is moved between I/O

3
B0193YD – Rev D 1. Release Overview

racks or the letterbug is swapped to simulate an additional group of FBMs. The resulting system
behavior can be confusing. Any of the following actions resolve the problem.
♦ Turning the PRIMARY ECB off-line and then on-line eliminates addresses bound to
nonexistent hardware.
♦ Installing an FCM and letterbug in the empty slot allows the address to be updated.
♦ Turning ECBs for FCMs that do not exist off-line prevents the duplicate address from
being used in the wrong context.

1.1.4.4.6 SMDH Download Function for 200 Series FBMs

For 200 Series FBMs, the equipment action DOWNLOAD key in SMDH restarts the FBM
from the FBM’s EEPROM. Because no code is downloaded, no “DOWNLOAD SUCCESS”
message appears.

1.1.4.4.7 Rate of Change for FBM211 and FBM212

ECB1 support for FBM211 (16 channel 0-20ma AI) and FBM212 (14 thermocouples +
reference) allows configuration of rate of change limits for channels 1-9 using parameters
ROC1,…,ROC9. The remaining channels are forced to the standard default: rate of change limit
disabled.

1.1.4.4.8 EEPROM Updating 200 Series FBMs

Do not EEPROM 200 Series FBMs with CP60 in control. Perform this function off-line.

1.1.4.4.9 Ladder Logic Not Supported

Ladder logic is not currently supported in the 200 Series FBMs.

1.1.4.5 CSA Errors at Reboot on AW70

If you receive the following CSA errors when rebooting an AW70, ignore them. They are benign.
CSA -00081 Could Not Calculate Initial Conditions
CSA -00060 CSA Server detected IPC interface error

1.1.4.6 LOOPID Characters

Alarms are not issued with Compound LOOPID if the LOOPID value starts with the
character zero (0). Use another character.

1.1.4.7 Rate of Change in Analog FBMs with a CP60

The rate of change feature used in analog FBMs with a CP60 is not supported in this release. Do
not use or configure this feature. Setting this parameter can flag certain FBM channels as “bad”.

1.1.4.8 Integrated Control Configurator (ICC) (Windows NT)

1.1.4.8.1 Printing to Remote Printer from ICC on an AW70
When the Control Configurator on an AW70 prints to a remote printer, text might be overwrit-
ten, improperly aligned, or incomplete.
Use a printer that is directly connected to the AW70 for proper printout.

4
1. Release Overview B0193YD – Rev D

1.1.4.8.2 Messages When Invoking ICC Direct Access Menu Configuration

After Day 0 installation of the I/A Series system, when an ICC Direct Access Menu
Configuration display is invoked for the first time, a MS-DOS® window containing several
messages appears briefly. These messages are caused by optimization of the displays by the
FoxView program. They are not harmful and do not affect system operation in any way.

1.1.4.8.3 Configuring the TON and TOF Coils

On the Solaris platform version of the PLB Editor, you can use the ALT+F1 keys to configure the
TON coil and the ALT+F2 keys to configure the TOF coil. On the Windows NT platform, these
key operations are not functional. You can configure the TON and TOF coils by picking the
SYMBOLS top menu bar button and selecting the TON or TOF menu entries.

1.1.4.8.4 ICCAPI Driver Task Causing CSA Error -11

Under certain circumstances, use of the ICCAPI Driver Task causes a CSA error -11.
The following sequence of driver commands causes the error:
OPEN <station> all <label>
LIST <station>!*:*
The LIST command only causes the error if invoked after the OPEN command. Actually, the
LIST command does not have to be invoked after the OPEN command.
The following sequence is used to work around the problem.
LIST <station>!*:*
OPEN <station> all <label>

1.1.4.9 FoxView V99.1 Printscreen (Windows NT)

Printscreen of a FoxView window from FoxView (V99.1) does not work on Windows NT.

1.1.4.10 FoxView tar Diskette (Solaris)

The Solaris tar diskette contains the file fvdd6_2.tar.Z. To install the diskette on an AW51 or
WP51 that has FoxView, type:
cd /
tar xvf /dev/fd0
uncompress fvdd6_2.tar.Z
tar xvf fvdd6_2.tar

1.1.4.11 VAL_ID Size (Windows NT)

The VAL_ID field is limited to 22 characters, which might be too short for some interfaces.
The VAL_ID field of the DI Blocks holds the label of the data item being retrieved. For some
interfaces, such as Data for Windows® through the DDE Gate, the item label can be quite long.
This change affects all the DI Block headers, pdef and olist files.

1.1.4.12 CLAN Assuming Cable-Test Mastership from AW70

(Windows NT)
The Carrierband Local Area Network (CLAN) within a Nodebus containing AW70 stations does
not assume Nodebus cable-test mastership from the AW70. Attempting to force the CLAN to
assume mastership results in the message “Unable to Process Request,” and mastership remains
with the AW70.

5
B0193YD – Rev D 1. Release Overview

1.1.4.13 Temporary Incorrect Cable Fault Indication

♦ After a Nodebus cable fault is detected within a Nodebus containing AW70
stations, attempting to run a manual cable test from an AW70 might result in the
message “Unable to run Cable Tests, Try Another Station.”

Select another station and repeat the test.

♦ While a cable fault exists within a Nodebus containing AW70 stations, running a
cable test from the AW70 might temporarily report that the incorrect cable failed. A
second message properly identifies the faulted cable.

1.1.4.14 Error Message for CLAN in Cable Test (Windows NT)

On a Nodebus containing AW70 stations, including the Nodebus’ CLAN in cable tests causes the
“Illegal Station Type for Operation” message. Select another station.

1.1.4.15 SMDH Displays Show Incorrect Printer Status (Windows NT)

AW70s and WP70s with directly connected printers do not always show the correct indication of
the printer status in the System Management Display Handler (SMDH) display. In some cases,
printing continues normally and, in others, printing is affected by the invalid status.

1.1.4.16 WP70’s Printer Not Shared with Network (Windows NT)

A printer connected directly to a WP70 prints its own requests, but it does not print from any
other client on the Nodebus. I/A Series software installation does not share the printer with the
whole network correctly.

1.1.4.17 Rebooting Other Stations from the System Management

Display on AW70 (Windows NT)
On an AW70, you cannot always reboot other stations from the System Management Display. If
this situation arises, reboot the AW70 to clear it.

1.1.4.18 iccapi.lib Missing (Windows NT)

The file iccapi.lib is missing from the \ia\lib\shared directory on the Windows NT platform. The
file is available in V6.2.1 or in a quick fix for V6.2.

1.1.4.19 Running ckmacadr.exe

NOTE
At this time, this utility does not function for
- CP30 Style B
- CP40 Style B
- CP60.

To run the ckmacadr.exe in the /opt/fox/bin/tools on V6.2, you must perform the following steps.
1. Change the names of the following files in /opt/fox/bin/tools:
ckmacadr.exe to ckmacadr.sh
ckmacadr.exe.stn to ckmacadr.stn

6
1. Release Overview B0193YD – Rev D

2. Execute the new ckmacadr.sh in a NuTCRACKER™ shell ($ prompt). You can

obtain a $ prompt in one of the following ways.
♦ Select Start: Run and type the following at the command line:
c:\Winnt\system32\cmd.exe /k d:\nutc\bin\ncenv.cmd &
d:\nutc\mksnt\sh.exe -L
or
♦ Run a DOS prompt and change directory to d:\nutc and type:
d:
ncenv
sh
3. Once at the $ prompt, change directory to your /opt/fox/bin/tools directory and run
the sh file by typing:
$ cd d:
$ cd /opt/fox/bin/tools
$ ckmacadr.sh

1.1.4.20 Correcting Small and Left-Shifted Fonts

Some lines are moved within the Makefile for the install_fonts procedure for V6.2. This change
causes the fonts to appear small and shifted to the left.
The work around is to save the V6.1 version of /usr/fox/wp/fonts/Makefile and install it on V6.2.

1.1.4.21 Selecting ADDE7 to Install FoxAPI

To correctly install FoxAPI™, select the ADDE7 software package for the AW70 station in System
Definition. The descriptor for that package says “Data for Windows” instead of “FoxAPI.”

1.1.4.22 Changing System Definition Marks Solaris Operating

System REINST (Solaris)
When you make changes to System Definition, the Solaris operating system gets marked as
REINST.

1.1.4.23 Auto-Checkpointing Control Stations

For release V6.2, only use the capability to auto-checkpoint a control station with a CP60 or a
Micro-I/A™ station. This feature is not reliable in the other control stations. Use quick custom
(QC #9728) for other stations.

1.1.4.24 Auto-Checkpoint Time Parameter Maximum

The maximum time parameter for auto-checkpoint is 127 or 63.5 hours (127 X 30 minutes).

1.1.4.25 Current Alarm Display (CAD) Text Not Visible

When you access the Current Alarm Display (CAD) after a system reboot, verify that FoxDraw is
not open, otherwise the CAD text might not be visible (white text on white background). If so,
reboot the station to recover.

B0193YD – Rev D 1. Release Overview

1.1.4.26 Configuring RAID for Data Disk Capability

V6.2 does not support configuring the Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) for data
disk capability at this time because a file and setup information are missing. Setups using only sys-
tem disks are still supported. The correction is included in a future release.

1.1.4.27 Correction for Using Backup Script on RAID5 System Drive

NOTE
This correction is only for the K0175SW-A and K0175SV-A CD-ROMs.

If using the backup script with a RAID5 unit as a system drive, you must make the following
change to the backup script.
You can configure the /usr/local/backup script of AWs and APs for a RAID5 system drive. Using
the vi editor, make the following changes.
Change this line:
if [ “$raid_drive” = “<FOX-RAID” ]
to these 2 lines:
echo $raid_drive | grep FOX-RAID >/dev/null
if [ $? -eq 0 ]

1.1.4.28 Disconnecting and Reconnecting a WYSE Terminal from an AP51

When you disconnect a WYSE terminal from an AP51, sometimes the AP51 goes off-line. When
reconnecting the WYSE terminal, the station is in the Prom Monitor mode (with an OK
prompt).
Type go to restore the AP51 on-line.

1.1.4.29 AP51D Failing to Shutdown

When you shutdown an AP51D from a VT100 window, sometimes the station fails and reboots.
A second shutdown is required in this case.

1.1.4.30 Operator Action Journal Horn Mute and Horn Unmute

On 50 Series stations, the Operator Action Journal does not filter out the actions of Horn Mute
and Horn Unmute.

1.1.4.31 Exiting Foxpancf

Exiting Foxpancf might create a core file, even though the task exits correctly.

1.1.4.32 AW51 Remote Display Keyboard

The keyboard might not function with a remote display from an AW51. Correct this problem in
a VT100 session by locating /opt/ia/profile. Add a remark (#) to the beginning of the
Jettool command line. Note that remote printscreen does not work.

1.1.4.33 Performing ia_install on Ultra-60 Stations with External Drives

NOTE
This install is only for the K0175SW-A and K0175SV-A CD-ROMs.

If you want to perform an ia_install on an Ultra-60 station with external drives, be aware that the
path_to_inst file is not properly installed.
You must copy the correct path_to_inst file into the root files systems /etc directory prior to
rebooting with the reboot -- -r command when operating from the CD-ROM. To copy in the
correct file, perform the following commands.
After the correct file is copied in, it is ok to reboot. To determine if you have an Ultra-60, simply
perform a uname -i command. The result should be “SUNW,Ultra-60.”
mount /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s0 /mnt_root
cd /mnt_root/etc
cp path_to_inst.E1.c1 path_to_inst
cd /cdrom
umount /mnt_root

nect I/O (GE PIO) interface card in a slot after a ProfiBus card.

1.1.4.35 Output Blocks Writing to the Same FBM242

If two output blocks are incorrectly configured to write to the same FBM242, neither the Inte-
grated Control Configurator nor the Select display detects the duplicate output configuration
error. The output channel result is random and inconsistent.

1.1.4.36 ECB7 and the Pulse Count Configuration for FBM217 and
FBM207
At this time, the ECB7 does not support the pulse count configuration for the FBM217 or the
FBM207.

1.1.4.37 Bad Channels on FBMs

Setting the ROC parameter in the ECB1 to a value other than 0, then setting it back to 0, can flag
some channels on the FBM as bad. Clear the bad status by pull-pushing the FBM.

1.1.4.38 The BOTH Option for EEPROMing FCMs

EEPROM FCMs individually. The BOTH option does not always update both FCMs to the
latest revision.

1.1.4.39 Making Connections to Non-Existent Points on FBM241

When using an FBM241, you can make connections to points 17 through 32 in the Control
Configurator, even though these points do not exist.

11
B0193YD – Rev D 1. Release Overview

1.1.4.40 EEPROMing 200 Series FBMs

Sometimes a 200 Series FBM does not EEPROM to the latest revision. A second try might be
necessary.

1.1.4.41 Corrections to the 200 Series I/O Subsystem (B0400FA Rev A)

Document
The following items are missing and/or require revision in 200 Series I/O Subsystem
(B0400FA Rev A). These items are supplied in an updated version of the document on the
Foxboro/CTC Internet Server. You can download the revised document via the I/A Series
Electronic Documentation CD-ROM (K0173TQ), formerly known as FoxDoc.
♦ All information relating to the enclosures will be supplied in the updated version of
this document.
♦ At the end of Chapter 1, information regarding subsystem cabling distances (see
“Product Sizing Constraints, Cabling”) is revised. The formula shown no longer
applies. Instead, a maximum distance of 20 km is allowed between the I/A Series con-
trol station and the farthest FBM.
♦ In Chapter 3, under “Module Installation, FCM10E or FCM10Ef Installation,” you
must place the FCM10E/FCM10Ef modules in the far right positions (positions 7
and 8) on the baseplate to prevent interference with the cable connectors.
♦ Chapter 3 is revised to note that the redundant modules (FBM205/FBM237) must
populate the baseplate from right to left to prevent interference with the cable
connectors.

1.1.4.42 Read-Only File During Software Install

The following message appears during software install of AW70:
A read only file d:\opt\fox\os1acm\install\postinstall.ksh was found while
attempting to copy files to destination location.
To overwrite the file, select Yes, otherwise click the no button.

1.1.4.43 Reinstalling Custom Markers

If you reinstall custom markers, be aware that a file is missing from the Font Editor. This file is
available in a quick fix.

1.1.4.44 Pre-V4.3/6.0 Color Palette for Display Manager

When you upgrade from pre-V4.3/6.0, the default color palette changes. To change back to the
old color palette, perform the following steps:
1. Type from a command window:
cd /usr/fox/wp/data
cp sys_pal.old sys_pal.WP50
2. Reboot the station.

1.1.4.45 Printscreen Causing Screen Freeze on Dual-Head

Workstation (Windows NT)
Attempting a printscreen operation from one head of a dual-head AW70 or WP70 (Windows NT
station) can cause the workstation screen to freeze briefly. The other head of that station is
unaffected.
Printscreens from single-head AW70 or WP70 stations work correctly.
You might want to avoid printscreen operations on dual-head AW70 and WP70 stations.

1.1.4.46 dbvu –t with CP60

The dbvu utility located in /opt/fox/bin/tools does not work in conjunction with the CP60 when
you use the dbvu –t option. The utility works up to the point when FCM ECBs are encountered.

1.1.4.47 AW51E’s Printer Printing Continuously

When you print a large file to a dot matrix printer directly connected to an AW51E, the printer
might print the file continuously. Find the print job number in the printer queue, then cancel
that print job. Use these commands.
lpstat -t | grep LPxx
where LPxx is the actual printer name
cancel LPxx-yy
where yy is the job index number printer by the lpstat command

1.1.5 System Definition

For V6.2, you must upgrade to System Definition 2.0.1, which supports the new hardware offer-
ings for V6.2.
System Definition 2.0.1 consists of System Definition 2.0 CD-ROM (K0200MG) and a release
update, System Definition V2.0.1 Upgrade Diskette (K0175SR).

1.1.5.1 New System Definition V2.0.1 Upgrade Diskette (K0175SR.B)

NOTE
You have two System Definition V2.0.1 Upgrade Diskettes in your shipment. The
latest revision of the System Definition V2.0.1 Upgrade Diskette is K0175SR.B.
Discard the K0175SR.A, shrink-wrapped inside your media kit, and replace it with
K0175SR.B, packaged outside your media kit.

Certain enclosures require you to install FCM modules in slot 7/8 instead of the default slot 1/2,
but System Definition did not allow you to assign the 200 Series FBMs to slot 1/2.
System Definition is modified to allow you to choose where FCMs are installed, in either slot 1/2
or 7/8, and to allow you to assign 200 Series FBMs in either remaining slot, 1/2 or 7/8. This
modification is contained in Rev B of the System Definition V2.0.1 Upgrade Diskette
(K0175SR).
For upgrade procedures, see “System Definition” in V6.2 UNIX Upgrade Considerations
(B0193YE) or V6.2 Windows NT Upgrade Considerations (B0400AF).

B0193YD – Rev D 1. Release Overview

1.1.6 I/A Series Electronic Documentation (formerly known as

FoxDoc)
I/A Series Electronic Documentation CD-ROM (formerly known as FoxDoc) contains
I/A Series system documents for UNIX and Windows NT, Product Specification Sheets, and
some on-line Help files. Unlike previous versions, this is a hybrid program which allows instanta-
neous access of current document revisions and updates, downloaded from the Foxboro web
site. This new version searches both the CD-ROM and the downloaded web updates, integrates
search results, and routes requests to the most recent destination—transparently to the user. This
means you have immediate access to new documents, corrections, enhancements, and new fea-
tures, without waiting for the next version of the I/A Series Electronic Documentation CD-
ROM.
See “FoxDoc Electronic Documentation Installation” in V6.2 UNIX Upgrade Considerations
(B0193YE) for installation instructions.

4. Server 70 System Setup

4.1 Introduction
The Server 70, Style C, is a server-class processor running the Microsoft® Windows NT
Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition operating system.
It can be purchased with either AW70 or WP70 functionality. The AW70 functionality supported
by the Server 70 is a subset of the AW70 in that it does not include support for all the I/O
options, such as the Fieldbus (PCFB) and Allen-Bradley (PKTX) interface cards, and Bristol
Babcock RTUs.
The Server 70 offers:
♦ A premium level system with high-end processor speed, up to 1 GB of memory,
optional internal RAID, up to six internal SCSI hard drives, and redundant hot-swap
power supplies
♦ Hosting of control stations and/or supporting data acquisition, and monitoring
functions
♦ An application platform and human interface station in an Ethernet or Nodebus-
based system
♦ The ability to support viewing of I/A Series applications from remote client
stations over local area networks and dial-up connections.
Remote invocation of the following I/A Series applications is supported:
♦ FoxView
♦ Alarm Manager
♦ FoxDraw
♦ Station Management Display Handler (SMDH)
♦ Integrated Control Configurator (ICC) in the AW70 version only.
Remote client stations running Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT as their operating
system can access a Server 70 over Ethernet or dial-up lines. Terminal Server Client software must
be installed on remote client stations to access applications running on a Server 70.
Remote client stations can have access to more than one Server 70 station, even at the same time.
Customers have the flexibility of ordering bundles of FoxView software to run on Windows NT
licenses in increments of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 users.
The security of remote client access is user-configurable. The remote sessions can range from
being view-only (which is the default behavior) to being equivalent to a local operator. Although
it is recommended that remote sessions be used for view-only sessions, you have flexibility and
control over what remote users can do.

For information about the hardware and software installation, refer to Hardware and Software
Specific Instructions for Server 70 Processors (PE2400) AW70C and WP70C (P95*A) (B0400SP).
For information about setting up security and performing other system administration tasks, refer
to Server 70 System Administration Guide (Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition)
(B0400AS). This document also contains information about installing the Terminal Server Client
software on the remote client stations.
Server 70 stations utilize the Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition (TSE)
operating system. This is not the same operating system as Windows NT Workstation 4.0 which
is utilized by AW70 and WP70 stations. Therefore, be very careful not to install Service Packs
from Microsoft or from The Foxboro Company that pertain to Windows NT Workstation.
Otherwise, you can damage the software installed on the Server 70.
