Narrative
DAY 1 – August 22, 2018 all teachers were in the session hall at
exactly 12:30pm and the SLAC session started at 1:00 O’clock in the
afternoon led by Mary Jean Perucho as the Master of Ceremony with a
singing of National Anthem conducted by Glenn Chinel, followed by a
prayer led by Liera Karissa Banaag and the checking of attendance
through the effort of Abiegail Puno. The attendance unleashed the singing
prowess of each grade level, as they sung a “Makabayan” song as a part
of celebration of Buwan ng Wika.
The first day of SLAC session started with our gorgeous and
intelligent principal – Dr. Elizabeth B. Medina. She discussed about MFAT
(Multi-Factored Assessment Tool) that focuses on Grade 1 learners who
may exhibit developmental advancement or delays or have
manifestations of learning disability. This aims to identify the Learners
with Educational Needs (LSENs), who may need education services; and
assist teachers in planning and designing instructions appropriate foe
LSENs. And through a vivacious discussion, she explained well about the
MFAT as a classroom activity-based assessment covering the five domains
of learning: (a) Cognitive, (b) Communication, (c) Socio-Emotional, (d)
Psycho-Motor, and (e) Daily Living Skills. The discussion was very
educational and the participants shared their own experiences with the
topic presented. The first day of SLAC session ended with a fruitful
knowledge and a closing prayer headed by Bonnifel Sahagun.
DAY 2 – August 23, 2018 like yesterday, all teachers were in the
session hall at exactly 12:30pm and the SLAC session started at 1:00
O’clock in the afternoon led by Mary Jean Perucho as the Master of
Ceremony and a singing of National Anthem conducted by Edna Fortaleza,
followed by a prayer led by Ricalen B. Romano and checking of
attendance through the effort of Trixie R. Mojica where each grade level
recite a riddle or “bugtong” as a part of Buwan ng Wika Celebration.
The second day of SLAC session had three brilliant speakers such as
Virgie M. Sara who discussed the Overview/Rationale of Introduction of
RPMS Manual for Teachers and Module 5 Annotation; Bonnifel Sahagun
who discussed the Module 4 Portfolio Preparation and Organization; and
Sonny Matias who discussed the Module 1 RPMS Tools. The second day of
our SLAC session was a fruitful one where we learned about the criteria on
how the PPST ( Philippines Professional Standard for teacher ) affect the
performance of the teachers inside the school . The roles of the teacher
under the DepED Order No. 36, s. 2013) states that Teachers play a
crucial role in nation building through quality teachers. We can develop
holistic learners who are steeped in values, equipped with 21st century
skills, and able to propel the country to development and progress. This is
in consonance with the Department of Education vision of producing:
“Filipinos who passionately love their country and whose values and
competencies enable them to realize their full potential and contribute
meaningfully to building the nation”. And we – as teachers can make
difference. Again, the session ended with a closing prayer.
DAY 3 – August 24, 2018 the SLAC session started at 1:00 O’clock in
the afternoon led by Abiegail Puno as the Master of Ceremony and a
singing of national anthem conducted by Marrefyl C. Bueno, followed by a
prayer led by Rosafe Dela Cruz and checking of attendance through the
effort of Crislyne Italia where each grade level recite a proverbs or
“salawikain” as a part of Buwan ng Wika Celebration.
For the last day of SLAC session had three excellent speakers such
as Bonnifel Sahagun who discussed about Module 6 Portfolio Assessment;
Sonny Matias for the Module 3 Classroom Observation Tools and Gina
Abriol for the Module 2 Self-Assessment Tool. This 3-days seminar was
very successful as they shared their knowledge for all the KVES teachers
that we need to improved our teaching career by this criterion. The DepEd
mandates this memorandum to be transparent and fair to teacher to give
his/her best to collect the evidences that the teacher have. PPST gives the
standard for every teachers to be more versatile to work hard and give
their best in the teaching profession. They want us to break the practices
that the beginning teacher have a ceilling grades. The new teachers or not
active teachers wants the DepEd to give them the opportunities by
showing their hard work because of the PPST anyone of us have a
privilege to prove that were are responsible in any aspect of our work.
