Music Lesson Plan

Title: There Was a Little Turtle Grade Level: 2​nd​ grade

Materials needed:
1) print out of song There Was a Little Turtle
2) device to play song for class

Procedure:

A.S: Has anyone ever seen a turtle before? How would you describe it?
Does a turtle move fast or slow?

1. Today we will be…(Mayra)


2. “We will sing the song once and then we’re going to bring it to life”
3. Teachers will sing song and have students repeat it back to them
(First) T – there was a little turtle (Repeat) S- there was a little turtle
4. Point out all of the action going on and what movements to use for the
different parts of the song
5. Practicing singing song again and add in movements
6. Play song on device and practice song going at a slow pace as students
walk in a circle
7. Switch from slow to fast pace and repeat the song again with
movements while walking in a circle
8.

Closure: What was the difference between snapped and caught? Where was
he swimming? What was easier for you going fast or slow?
