Big Bear Hunt at Valley View
While “things have been tough all over” is a bit of an
understatement, those hardest hit are the folks who
live in the nursing homes across Montana, including
the residents at Valley View. They are still under shut-
down mode, meaning friends and especially family
members cannot make a personal visit. Valley View
Activities Director Terri Wedel has been keeping
them occupied, however, and their latest creations
include a bunch of bears. Neighborhood “bear hunts”
have becoming all the rage in some areas, including
Glasgow, and the Valley View residents have their

bears in their windows, 26 to be exact. Parents and
their kids are urged to go bear hunting and see if they
can spot them all! The kids are also encouraged to
tape some pictures/art work of their own on the Valley
View windows. “We certainly appreciate the patience
and all of the community support,” Terri says, “so bear
hunting would be a wonderful way to let our residents
know that community members still love them.” And,

Action for Eastern Montana Head Start program will be having
enrollment -it is now open for the 2020-2021 upcoming school year.
It is a free pre-school program-no tuitions and no fees. The program runs five
days a week Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
To enroll in the program children must be
1. Three or four years of age by September 10th, 2020
2. Meet the income guidelines. a. he program can enroll 10% of the children
that exceed the income guideline slots. b. 10% of the slots are made
available for children with a disability.
While eligibility is based on income guidelines, families that receive certain
benefits and circumstances are eligible as well. Glasgow is a comprehensive
child development pre-school program serving children ages 3-4 and their
families. It is designed to increase school readiness and develop a child’s
potential to the fullest.

Coronavirus
The guys from the Buzz told me
there have been a couple or more people
asking “why Virgil hasn’t weighed in on
the Coronavirus thing. Seems Virgil has
an opinion on most everything so why not
this?”
My Opinion?.... MY OPINION??? YOU CAN’T
STAND MY OPINION!! (In case you missed it, that’s a
paraphrasical from A Few Good Men, and in my opinion, a
pretty good flick.)
Did anyone listen to my opinion back in 1918 to 1920
when we suffered the worst flu pandemic ever? It was of the
H1N1 variety. Everyone was too busy being opinionated
about the “Great War.” Or “The War To End All Wars” as
some folks called it, but I kept telling them to call it World
War One, you know.... just in case. The Spanish Flu, when
over 500,000,000 world-wide got infected! 675,000 died
in America. Small business in the US didn’t get bailed out.
There were no checks to help out citizens. We didn’t have to
suffer through ‘house arrest’. We toughed it out and survived
to prosper in later years. And we didn’t catch hell from the PC
police for calling it the Spanish flu.
King AlfonsoXIII of Spain got sick with the flu in 1918
which gave newspapers all over the world permission to dub
it the Spanish Flu!
In 1957 we were presented with the Asian Flu (H2N2).
It was called the Asian Flu because it was reported to have
started in Guizhou, China. Through a process called antigenic
drift the H1N1 had morphed into the H2N2 of the Asian flu
which remorphed into the H3N2 or Hong Kong flu of 1968.
The so-called Swine flu of 2009 was a strain of the Spanish flu
of 1918 and was called H1N1 (H1N1 pdm09).
The preceding was over-simplified and brought to
you by the Won Hung Low School of Phrencology and
Reconstructive Surgery in Wuhun, China.
Folks, meaning the liberal press, are blaming President
Trump for acting too slowly, or wrongly, or stupidly or
without thinking or....the list goes on. Let me just settle down
a bit, regain my composure and tell all you dissenters and
Trump haters......YOU ARE ALL WRONG. I could have used
a different adjective other than “wrong” but I’m trying to be
polite.
If you recall, there was a flu outbreak back in 2009
while your beloved and strictly symbolic B.H. Obama
was (shudder) president. It was called the Swine Flu as I
mentioned. What I didn’t tell you was that Obama took 5-6
months to act decisively. He let “his” agencies act on their
own with no direction from him and no cooperation between
them, which caused business and industry a great deal of

what was going on other than that people were getting sick
and dying.
On the other hand, your “not my president” President
Donald Trump made some very early (three or four days after
the first case was detected) decisions and followed the CDC
guidelines while relying on his advisers to do the same thing.

Dear Customers:
Starting January 2020, the Valley County Refuse
District #1 is limiting use of the container sites (blue
containers) to the dumping of household garbage
only. If a load contains any items other than daily
household garbage, the scale and landfill must be
used to dispose of those items. If a load weighs less
than 400 pounds, a flat rate of $5.00 per load will be
assessed. Anything in excess of that amount will be
charged based upon tonnage. If the cost of a load is
under $20.00, payment will be required to be made
at the scale. Individuals not using the scale when
required will be assessed fees according to the
following schedule adopted by the Refuse District:
• Pickup, Single Axel Trailer - $100.00 per load
• Tandem Axel Trailer, Single Axel Farm Truck -
$200.00 per load
• Tandem Axel Farm Truck, Triple Axel Trailer -
$400.00 per load
After notice of a fee being assessed is given,
failure to pay in a timely manner it may be deemed a
theft of services and will be referred to Valley County
Sheriff’s Office and could result in prosecution.
The following items ARE NOT considered
household garbage items:
• Railroad Ties
• Construction Material
• Shingles/Roofing Material
• Tires
The taxes assessed on properties are to provide
for disposal of household garbage, and other items
must be paid for separately as a result.
Landfill hours are Monday through Friday from
7:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturdays from 8:00 am
to 12:00 pm. Refuse District Board meetings are
held the third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 pm.
