One fact we do know about COVID:
New Issue
Remain Vigilant
While rare, we are seeing evidence that
COVID-19 can cause severe illness in children
with 73 reported cases in New York
with symptoms similar to Kawasaki disease
and toxic shock-like syndrome.

On Thursday, a 5-year-old boy passed away in

New York City from these COVID-related complications
and we are investigating several other child deaths.
Remain Vigilant
Seek care immediately if your child has:
• Prolonged fever (more than 5 days)
• Difficulty feeding (infants) or is too sick to drink fluids
• Severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, or vomiting
• Change in skin color - becoming pale, patchy, and/or blue
• Trouble breathing or is breathing very quickly
• Racing heart or chest pain
• Decreased amount or frequency of urine
• Lethargy, irritability, or confusion
A common thread with this virus:

Minority communities suffer the most.

Where Are New COVID Cases?

Of the 21 zip codes

with the most new
COVID-19
hospitalizations,
20 have greater
than average black
and/or Latino
populations.
We must immediately
address this inequity.
And we will.
We must also adjust to
the changing
circumstances.
Last year, we made history when
we signed the Child Victims Act
ensuring survivors of childhood sexual abuse
have a path to justice.
Child Victims Act

While the window to file an expired or

time barred case does not close until August,
the coronavirus pandemic has

their long overdue justice.

Child Victims Act

To ensure COVID-19 does not stand

in the way of justice, we are extending
the window for victims to file cases an
additional five months until January 14.
Justice too long delayed
is justice denied.
