Regulatory Governance Model:

This model deals with contemporary developments, starting from the last few
decades. This model aims to balance, organize and control the political and societal
arena. This model advocates to develop our policies in accordance with the recent
developments in politics and society not only in the state but across the globe. These
steps will strengthen governance. This model has been proven a highly effective
model and has been implemented in many states. Its efficiency is due to its
independent and accountable procedures. It emphasises on decentralization,
including stakeholder in policy process along with transparency and accountability.

Self -Organizing Model

This model goes back to the traditional way of governance, power is taken from the
center and moved into the hands of the citizens. Responsibilities and decision
making powers are given to the citizens, as they know their problems best. This
model develops a seed of trust in the relation of government and citizens. Through
this model the problem of flow of information will be effective. Information will be
shared through all segments of the policy arena .

Civil Society Model:

This model emphasises the role of civil bodies to achieve a policy goal. Civil
societies know about the structural and policy implementation problems. It helps the
government in setting the agenda, mobilizing Environmental Justice and helping with
the flow of information.

Co-operative Model:

Official actors are not really concerned over the matters of governance,as US
president Donald Trump says climate change is a hoax. Those government officials
who are showing concerns over climate change are not able to implement their
policies within their own jurisdictions. So those concerned for climate have taken the
matter into their own hands by creating several forums to advocate climate change
issues and way forward for it. Scientists, researchers and other related groups are
joining hands and taking part in the policy process. This model demands the
collective and mutual efforts of citizens, government officials, private firms and civil
societies. Collective collaboration is the main binding force of this model.

State Based model:

In this model, legislates the state over environmental laws and regulation to protect
the environment. To enforce these laws, the state has agencies which utilizes the
resources in an efficient way to achieve policy goals. Legal tools can also be used by
the state. As the government has a monopoly over laws. For evaluation, the
government can form commissions and agencies or hire private firms to regulate the
policy. Furthermore, the government can also make interventions like tax incentives
and protection of biodiversity.
