Gospel summary

We were born “out of alignment” with (the will of) God: corrupt of heart, mind, will,
and dead of spirit. Willingly we forsook Him and His will, seeking our own way. We
were the enemies of God. But though we were His enemies, God extended His favor
to us. Just as we became partakers of sin’s nature through relationship with Adam,
God sought to bring us back into fellowship with Him through a new relationship to
Christ.
To enter into this relationship we were required to acknowledge and turn away from
sin and accept His Son, Jesus, as the sacrifice that appeased God’s wrath and
punishment for our sin. By His sacrifice, Jesus made us acceptable to the
requirements of the law, restoring us to relationship with God, and winning us His
favor and blessing. We became the chosen of God when we placed our faith in
Christ.
Now God is in the process of changing our nature from earthly to heavenly, setting
us apart for a divine purpose, and purifying our affections. His continued provision
and protection is extended unto us, hinging on faith and our willingness to abide.
Now we have an enduring hope of eternal life and an incorruptible inheritance in
heaven.
