Music Lesson Plan

Title: Pink Panther Grade Level: K

Source: Dr. McConkey

Materials needed: Magnifying glass, scarves, song.

Procedure:

A.S: “Class, what does a detective do? What do they use a magnifying
glass for?”

1. Introduce the detective, (Pink Panther), and play the song.

2. Have students listen to the song and point out when they hear
the part that sounds like tip-toeing.
3. Students tip-toe around during the corresponding parts in the
song, and when it stops students stop and look for clues.
4. Now students crouch down and cover their head during the tip-
toe part, and then during the stop they wave their hands up in the air.
5. Hand out magnifying glasses to the “detectives” and scarves to
the “clues”. The detectives will stand and tip-toe around during that
part in the song and stop and look for clues during the stop. The
clues will spread out around the classroom and cover their heads
during the tip-toeing, and during the stop they will waive their scarves
around.
6. Students can exchange roles so everyone has a chance to play
both parts.

Closure: “Today we had some clues and some detectives, what did the
detectives do? Show me how they tip-toed. What did the scarves do?”
Educational Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will have learned . . . identify
different parts of a song, listening carefully and execute specific movements on certain audio
cues.
