2. 1 One of style-forming features which helped me to identify the style is that sentences tend to be
short and compact. For example “All staff are barista trained” . No detailed description is given, only
specific, clear information is given.

2.2 Another distinctive feature - the vocabulary is with a few emotionally coloured words or phrases
used to attract the reader's attention. For example, the most impressive inscription is “ Take away the
ultimate coffee”

2.3 The principal function of advertisments is to impress inform the reader .

We see here that they want to show us the best coffee, the best hot chocolate with cream. We are
provided with interesting information about coffee, which is prepared in the best restaurant «Seaview
Restaurant»

2.4 The main purpose of advertising is to persuade customers to buy your product at the place of the
products of your competitors. After such an attractive advertisement about perfect coffee, I really want
to try this coffee at this restaurant.

2.5 An important feature of advertising is design. In my opinion, everything came together in one
picture: both the information and the picture of a cup of aromatic coffee.

3.Language of this advertisement is brief and simple. For example “hot chocolate with fresh cream”. The
language is unambiguous, because here we clearly understand that they advertise coffee and not some
other product. No double meaning.

The use of the imperative «Take away the ultimate coffee”

The use of adjectives “roasted coffee beans” “organic milk” “perfect coffee” “speciality hot chocolate
with fresh cream” . With adjectives, these words are there to seduce you into believing in the product or
service advertised.
Persuasion technique used here «We make it the way you like it”

II. New Ways of Business

Governments across the US are closing down concert venues, cinemas and theaters because of
coronavirus. However, many people in the industries are looking for new ways to continue their work.

Several fundraising efforts have been launched to help keep theaters and theater workers operating
during the closures. Owners of theaters are coming up with new ideas on how to keep people engaged
and how to work online. Despite the fear and uncertainty, it is an opportunity to innovate the industry.
Some improv shows and comedy venues perform remotely, and they livestream to audiences. In some
cases, they sell more tickets than the physical theater can allow.

Communication professor, Dustin York, said that there are opportunities for small businesses too. For
example, yoga instructors can do online classes for free, and once they attract enough customers who
like them, then it could become an actual business.

2.3. -In this passage, is the use of abbreviations. (Governments across the US)

3. -Sentences which provide the maximum amount of understanding with the minimum risk of
confusion. “Governments across the US are closing down concert venues, cinemas and theaters because
of coronavirus”

-Sentence length- Complex sentences contain key information and an idea without a detailed
description.

- Lively language -Every word must accurately describe what happened.( efforts have been launched,
are coming up with new ideas, looking for new ways)

-Using of active voice (Owners of theaters are coming, improv shows perform remotely)

-The use of quotes (Dustin York, said that there are opportunities for small businesses too)

this item seem to correspond to the needs of our clients. As you advise, we have contacted MODAZ,
whom you mention as the exclusive distributor in the area. We were told that this firm no longer
distributes your products. We wondered whether you would be able to give us the address of another
supplier or, failing this, could you please let us know if you are in a position to deliver directly. In the
latter case, we would be grateful if you would give us details of your terms of sale.
