3.2.1 Introduction of the product

Pastries have been a staple in the western culture. One of the most popular and are

still the favorite of many are pies that some countries celebrate the delicacy.

Incorporating this dish to Filipino cuisine, the proponents came up with the idea of

collaborating the elements of Western and Filipino flavors.

Pies that are popular locally are filled with fruits and root crops and other native

food that is accessible in the area like coconut, cassava, yema and egg. To make the

product more innovative and unique in the market but still retain the quality of

Filipino flavors, the proponents thought of using the most popular Pinoy dish as the

pie filling, the adobo.

Producing a product that will showcase the harmony of two different cultures into

a single delicacy is what the proponents were eyeing for. Savory mini pies are still

unique in the market but as to not estrange the customers with the product the

proponents infused Filipino viand to attain a sense of comfort and familiarity.


3.2.2 Product Description

The product will be sold under the business name of PIE-O-NEER, originating from the word

“pioneer” which means the first to develop or use or apply a method, knowledge or activity. In

relation, the business venture being developed is new to the eyes, ears and mostly the taste of the

Filipinos.

Savory Mini Pies are baked to satisfy the palate of not only the new generation but also the

elderly who fancy pastries as much. Pies as often seen or tasted by Filipinos are made from the usual

crust but filled with fruits, mainly coconuts, pineapples, mango, bananas and other local fruits that

are abundant and most popular in the Philippines. With this current perception of pies, the

introduction of savory mini pies to the Filipino public is a first that will pique their interest and

attention. Additionally, food trends today make delicacies either too big a serving or a few sizes small

from its original serving making the savory mini pies a part of the food trends at present.

To make it more inviting and enticing to the market, the savory mini pies are filled with one of

the most popular Filipino viand, Adobo. It will give a sense of familiarity not only in name but in the

flavors that will surely cater those who are not into trying unfamiliar tastes.

Also, mini pies are portable. It can be enjoyed anywhere may it be outdoors or indoors. It is

offered to be enjoyed by the public without being bothered by the thought of the mess it’ll make

when eaten since it is served and made to bite sizes. It can be “instagramable” with its cute-sized

appearance and innovative twist.
