To Whom It May Concern:

This letter of recommendation is written for Ty Napierskie, with whom I had the pleasure of
working with for eight weeks as cooperating teacher at Stone Spring Elementary School. It is
evident that this individual cares about all students and works diligently to provide them with
meaningful experiences in music. Throughout this placement, they demonstrated not only their
ability to teach, but also the necessary willingness to grow, support and reflect as an educator.

Dependable and articulate, this student teacher has a broad range of musical and academic skills
to bring to the classroom. Their pleasant and tuneful singing voice was a perfect fit in the
elementary music setting. In addition, their high level of musicianship along with regularly
playing the piano, flute, ukulele, and other instruments helped to engage and motivate students.
Demonstrating effectiveness in the incorporation of technology, they introduced looping and
other elements of Garageband to fourth and fifth grade students. This gave students a new
opportunity for creativity and expression while allowing for individual preferences. Through
Ty’s leadership, fourth grade students were able to share their projects with families and friends
at an evening event. They also connected with students and families by leading a dance and
assisting with our third grade Multicultural Family Dance Night.

Ty Napierskie promoted musical skills and knowledge for all students in a consistent, fun and
relaxed environment. I was impressed with their ability to make changes to lessons quickly
according to feedback and reflection as well as their level of independence in writing and
presenting a unit on the ukulele. Throughout the placement, they discovered that detailed
preparation of the lesson presentation along with genuine enthusiasm are essential elements for
success. In working with a high percentage of special education and ELL students, their strong
desire to meet the needs of all students led this student teacher to create an adaptive recorder for
a fourth grade student using a “Makey Makey” kit.

Through their calm, friendly and professional demeanor, this individual will undoubtedly have
an effective and supportive classroom. They will make a strong impact on their students. Ty
Napierskie has bright future as a music educator. You would be fortunate indeed to have them at
your school!

Sincerely,

Heather M. Eberly
