A project manager plays a critical role in leading and organizing the team, responsible for
achieving strategic business objectives. The project for construction of thirty story mall is
demanding and arduous task of importance, with highly technical human resource involved.
The project, from initiation to completion, would be hierarchical in nature. A pictorial
representation is shown in figure 1. The project handling stage is most crucial as described.
Primary source of information will be provided by the organization to commence the project
officially. The organization will be involving me during the production of project charter that
will include the business documents and project statement of work.

The charter of this project will brief me


about the business case and benefit management plan according to
which I will be executing the project. In addition, the charter will
also explain me the organization’s process assets and environmental
enterprise factors that will play a vital role in completion of the
construction of mall or apartment.
Initially, the sponsors will provide with the funding of the project.

partners. The project team will be assigned with specialized skillsets
for the completion of task. Physical resources will also be
appropriated. Some of the schedule will be utilized in creation of resource breakdown and
work breakdown structure.
My success as a project manager is evident if the scope of project and work statement are in
congruency with the output of the task. This specialized document will be produced by the
knowledge group integration. With the completion of construction project, consumers and the
end users will provide a valuable feedback that would be taken into account by me.

Necessary variations required in the project will be initiated so that maximum satisfaction of
consumer is possible.

Figure 3 shows a hierarchical framework of project manager, affecting the other influential
entities. This network shows that influencing factors are interlinked which ultimately results
in the project completion. I as a project manager will ameliorate cross relational approach for
the optimal outcome. The main plan of action for the proper handling of the project will
compose of scheduling and cost overrun management along with a particular emphasis on
scope management with zero environmental and physical hazards.
As a project manager I will incline my competencies to a specific leadership style which will
maximize my technical and strategic business outcomes. For the technical aspects of
management, I will keep into account the scheduling and costs overruns which might reduce
the precision of the project. In addition, a firm attention will be given to the scope
management which determines the outcome of the project. From a strategic business point, a
positive environment will be made all the way from daily wage laborer to the business
magnates involved in the project. This will motivate the human resource to work with full
zeal and zest.

I would like to quote the same construction example here. Building a technically dense
engineering solution is a critical task with minute error tolerance. For such a task, we need
authentic, repeatable and proven style of leadership, maximizing our results. The best
approach for construction, as well as nearly any project is to work in Interactional leadership
style. This involves the combination of transactional, transformational and charismatic
leadership style. This unique combination is an optimal solution for achieving arduous goals
for better project outcome. This style enables us to covers
 Transactional approach: To achieve our goal, we will get quality assurance feedback,
the remarks will help us to determine rewards. Complex engineering project are
standing on comprehensive and constructive account which enable us to successfully

troubleshoot any issues. In the case of High rise building construction, it is very
important for the project manager to get a good information about payload of the
building, otherwise the manager may store the physical resources in the building
which may lead to collapse of the structure.
 Transformational approach: This will inspire the human resources to give their level
best, yet get good remarks to recieve rewards and bonuses. Specialized projects
generally have a specific code of conduct and attributes which need to be fulfilled.
Therefore, it is pertinent for the team to have well understanding of the individual
considerations
 Charismatic approach: High performing teams always require motivation, ideal and
inspiration which they can look upon in case of non-aberration of project risks. In
addition to self-confidence of charismatic leader also diminishes the doubts of human
resources. In large projects, the team may fail in some tasks. This may lead to
demotivation in the team. I would always try to be high energy and charismatic,
helping my teammates.
