My village is very small and doesn’t have many facilities. It has small middle school, a

My hometown is well-known for a cactus garden which has nearly 400 types of cactus, an
ancient museum, cricket stadium and a sports complex. Along with this, beautiful shopping
malls, a famous temple of goddess Mansa where people in large number visit at the time of
Navratri festival and a famous gurudwara Nada Sahib which is worth visiting place in my city.

My city is a modern city which has all the facilities required by a person to live a comfortable
life. It has educational institutions like schools and colleges, medical facilities which comprises

also available here.

Yes, my city is historically famous. I read about the history of my hometown from internet that
Panchkula is named after the five streams of fresh water which used to flow long back through
the place. The history is related to five Pandavas stayed at this place during the period of their
exile and that time they dug the fresh water streams for themselves.

Though the history of my hometown is interesting but it is not much popular. That’s why it is
not included in the school curriculum and is not taught in schools.

Massive development and big establishments has extended my city from all the sides. The
increasing facilities have attracted people to migrate and settle at this place. All type of
advancement and development has reduced greenery as well as natural sites from the city. I
would like to see more parks and green belt to save city from pollution. Another problem is
increasing number of two wheelers and four wheelers. People prefer their own vehicles to
commute which has resulted in traffic congestion and parking problem. Especially, market
place requires huge, spacious and systematic parking.

My city is a modern city. It has many recreational points to have fun. There are a number of
parks, shopping malls, cinema halls, discotheques and shopping plazas to hang out to enjoy life.
Mostly people visit these places in the evening or on holidays.

It is true that my hometown is well planned and a modern city but it would be more alluring to
people of my age if there are more of recreational points like library, hobby developing places
etc. Along with this, there should be well developed shopping and entertainment places. Good

Yes, we see foreigners at many places in my hometown. They visit cactus garden, amusement

The transport system in my city is equally good, so one can go to these places either by a

Yes, hobbies are very useful to us. They help us to pass time in a constructive way. They

I come from a nuclear family. We are four members: my father, mother, a younger brother and
me. Both my parents are working. My father is a government employee, mother; a teacher
whereas I and my brother are students. My younger brother is a student of 12th class and I am
studying arts while pursuing graduation.
20. Do all the family members live at one place?
Yes, we all family members live at one place. My father’s office and my college both are in
Chandigarh, my mother teaches in the same school where my brother studies and it is near to
my house. So, we all live under one roof and commute to our scheduled places daily.
21. Do you face difference of opinion in your family?
I always obey and respect my parent’s decisions. But, sometimes I face differences in opinions.
It may be due to generation gap. Then I sit for some time with my parents to discuss my point

I am pure vegetarian so I like to eat vegetarian food which comprises of high nutritive value. I
always take those foods which are riches in carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins. Most of my
diet includes fruits, green vegetables, cereals, milk and milk products. They are healthy, easily
available and not too much expensive. The most interesting point is that it is easily digestible
and keeps my body and mind healthy.
24. What kind of new food would you like to try? Why?

I have heard a lot about traditional Gujarati food. If I get a chance, I would like to try this food
as its preparation is very simple without much spicy ingredients. The food will give me a
chance to taste cuisines of new culture and overall it is good for health also.
25. What do you usually eat for breakfast?
As I am a health conscious person, I prefer to take a light and energy-giver breakfast. Usually, I
eat bread sandwich with milk and few almonds for my breakfast but sometimes I take fried
chapattis with juices also. Cereals and fruit salad is part of my lunch.

We should eat simple, hygienic and nutritious food to stay healthy. This means a diet rich in all
nutrients: vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and proteins. These all are easily available in fruits,
milk, eggs, almonds etc. Apart from this, food should be clean and free from germs.

For me, breakfast is most important. My working schedule starts at 8 am. In the morning, I have
to do a lot of work at my workplace. If I do not take a healthy and good breakfast, the metabolic
exercise makes me tired and exhausted. So, a nutritive diet in the morning is compulsory for

Yes, I think people will prefer to have fast food and packed food more in future. As most of the

Yes, surely, I love to eat fruits and vegetables. They have high nutritional value. That is why;

Fruits are major part of my diet. I eat all types of seasonal fruits to stay healthy but citrus fruits

All the family members in my family are busy in their profession. Due to different working
hours, it is not that much possible for all to have meals together during day time but at dinner

I am a professional. I am working as a staff nurse in a reputed hospital named “Rogmukt” in

sector 17, Chandigarh. I am working there since March 2005 and my job responsibilities
include looking after the indoor patients and obeying doctor’s orders in the operation theater.

42. What kind of work it is?
Well sir, the work is related to medical field. It is totally related to service towards humanity.
The major duties are to keep the patients under medical vigilance by giving medicines and other
medical treatment, helping doctors during operation in Operation Theater and minor duties
involve giving guidelines and counseling the patients towards a good health.
43. What do you like most about your job?
I like the most to interact with and counseling the patients while taking care of them. Along
with this, I like to work with doctors in the Operation theatre also. For me, post- operative care
is most essential. These all help me to know more and explore more related to my work.

Most of my duties are in shifts but I like the day shift most and specially the morning time when
our senior staff takes our meeting. At that time I feel active and energetic. I learn a lot new

exploring. There I learn things like how to take quick decisions and work actively. The

Yes, definitely, the people around me are my colleagues, doctors and patients. All of them are

I don’t believe in making a number of friends just for the sake of fun. I have only one friend
who is honest and trustworthy towards me. She is an honest friend to me from my school days.
She is very accommodating, co-operative and always ready to help. We stand together for many
reasons and have a good compatibility in between us.
50. When and where do you meet your friend?
I and my friend, both are working so we hardly meet on weekdays but we meet on weekends
and in vacations. We usually visit each other’s home; enjoy gossips with a cup of tea.
Sometimes we plan a picnic with kids also.

My friend is like a companion to me. We both generally like to talk to and share our feelings

I belong to India. My Country is a place of saints and sages. People of this country, are
religious, spiritual and peace loving. It has a great heritage and rich culture and tradition. For
effective governance the whole country divided into 29+ states. Every state has a number of
cities and villages. Approximately 70% people in my country live in villages.
60. Do all the people in your country follow same culture and single religion?

People in my country follow different religions and variety of cultures. My country is divided
into 28 states and every state has its own language and culture. But, there are four main
religions. All the religions are equally respected and any one can see unity in diversity in my
country.
61. What are the famous places to visit in your country?
The places of visit which are popular are: the historical places in Delhi, Agra, Mumbai, and
Kolkata along with these the places of spiritual importance are also popular. Likewise South of
India is popular for beautiful and attractive temples.
62. What would you suggest to a visitor from overseas country to see in your country?
My country is a land of temples and spiritual places so it has a great religious and spiritual
important also. I will suggest the overseas visitor to see beautiful monuments which tell their
own history. I would recommend temples which speak themselves about their religious
importance. To enjoy natural sceneries and varied climate on hill stations, I will prefer a person
to go Himachal Pradesh and Jammu Kashmir.

Generally, tourists visit my country to study the history, culture and religion. Mostly they visit
the historical places and places of religious and spiritual importance. These tourists are from
different parts of the world. They really come to explore India. India has a vast potential as far

These days, I see foreign visitors at tourist places in Chandigarh. The popular places of their

My country is divided into states and every state has its own traditional art and music. Likewise,

foreign visitor to enjoy all these. Moreover, I would also like them to visit many famous

I live in Panchkula near Chandigarh. This city is in Haryana State which is in Northern part of

I think individually, it is very difficult to improve but if the citizens join hands to help

people in my country live in villages. It is known that around 80% of whole population lives

Well sir I am working as a trainer and daily I meet my students and new people also who want

As my father was in Indian Air Force, I had to move place to place with him. So I studied from

I studied all the compulsory subjects in the school like: English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science,
Social science. But my favorite subjects were Mathematics and science. To solve complex
problems in mathematics and to do numerical in physics was my favorite.

Yes sure, from the schooling age, I am studying English and Hindi languages in many formats
like reading, writing, listening and speaking in these languages. I have invested ample time and

I keep myself fit through yoga in the morning and by enjoying walk in the evening with my

I live in a big house in a posh area. It has four rooms, a drawing and dining room, a spacious
garage and a beautiful garden in the front. Every room is spacious, well ventilated, facilitated
with all features and attached with washroom. I am lucky as I am living in my dream house.

I prefer my own bedroom. It has all the facilities which I require like a bed, computer, wardrobe

but I would like to paint the walls in my home with the color of my choice i.e. white. White

I like to live in a village and in a traditional house. Traditional house are open and built up in a
large area. It has large space to accommodate a number of people. They are designed for joint

In my city two types of transport systems are most popular. One is public and the other is
private transport system. Public transport system includes: buses, auto-rickshaws, cabs and the
private includes tourist cars and taxis. People access them according to their own feasibility.

The most common and cheapest means of transportation are buses and trains. Since India is a
vast country with population of more than 1.2 billion so public transport systems is most

Due to heavy rush in the public buses, I prefer to go to office by my own car. It helps me to
reach easily and safely at my work place. I believe in car- pooling which helps to save fuel also.

I get up early in the morning at 5o’clock, do yoga for half an hour. Then I start with my kitchen
work. After completing it, I get ready for my institute. As I am working as a teacher so from 8
am to 2 pm I teach students. Nearly at 2.30pm I come back home, prepare lunch and look after
my family. In the evening I meditate for half an hour, go for walk with friends, come back and
prepare dinner for family and then watch TV for some time before going to bed.

Yes, I enjoy dancing. Dancing is my hobby and I like to dance in parities and celebrations with

In my opinion, it should not be taught in schools because in my country, the culture is not open

Well, sir I live in sector-4 Panchkula. It is a posh area and most of the people in my sector are
well educated and professionals. The place is well developed and maintained The sector is big

I choose this city to live because of my profession. My company is in the city and on the other

As I am living in the northern part of my country, winters are at peak every year in the month of

I would like to live in a place of moderate climate. Hot weather reduces efficiency due to heat
and sweating. Cold weather sometimes does not allow working for long hours outside so

When people do funny things and crack jokes, I always laugh. Apart from this, comedy movies

to a funny thing whereas happiness is an inner expression and it has a longer phase than

In my view, as our own life is important to us, so is happiness. A happy mind always does

Yes, I write formal as well as informal letters. As I am a professional so many times I write
letters manually to my seniors. I also write e-mails to my friends residing overseas. In my
profession of course to keep records, e-mails are used more.

Computer is an important part of my job. Regularly I have to work with internet. I write both
types of letters. Usually to my friends, I write manually but in my office, I have to write using

School days are the formative years of learning. The things taught at this stage have a long
retention. Letter writing skill is required at every stage of life so this skill should be taught from
childhood at school. I have observed that in my country, it is included in the syllabus and

There is a huge difference between the way we were taught to write and children are taught to
write but long back, we used to write with pencils and in ink only and apart from this,

The friends who live near to my house and in my city, I contact them personally and on phone.
However the friends who live in other cities or overseas, I contact them through e-mail, face-
book, and through phone also. Often we all friends contact each other.

No, it is not necessary. It totally depends on the distance and their feasibility. Due to changing
time zones, I prefer to contact my friends who are in my city, it is easy for us to meet face to

These days, I observe due to various communication devices and because of their easy

No, in the past, the modern communication devices were not available and affordable, so people
used to stay in contact through letters or meeting each other personally. On contrary, nowadays

Man is a social being and he always requires a company. Social life is a necessary to pass time,

I am living in a city which is highly populated so I rarely see birds. Since there are lesser

I really like to do household work, it generates satisfaction and feeling of love towards home

In these days people are more careers oriented and they are more inclined towards earning

In my opinion, of course in a very early age of 8-10 years, they should be introduced to help

Yes, I have visited many museums in different parts of my country. Every museum tells the

Last year, I went for an outing with my family to Gujarat, one of the famous states of my

shows how he lived and what he used. Visiting the museum gives a feeling that Gandhi is still

Yes, I always liked visiting museum. Since my childhood, I visited many museums. My mother

Science is one of the compulsory subjects in school curriculum. I read the subject from class
first onward. I like science subject as it is full of facts and experiments. It gives logical

Till my 10th class I studied science as a compulsory subject and I enjoyed science lessons. I
enjoyed biology lessons more especially that were related to plants and flowers.

I found physics numerical and chemistry concepts most difficult. These two branches I felt were
totally dry subjects to study. Most of the times, I crammed the concepts to get marks. I had less
interest in them. Even my tuition classes were not helpful to create interest in the subject.

In my opinion, religion teaches us brotherhood of mankind and fatherhood of God. It gives us

certain ethics and values to follow and makes us a good human being and helps us to live our

My home country is multi-religious country. There are four main religions Hindu, Muslim,
Sikh, and Christianity. All people have their own holy places. They all visit these places and

Libraries play a vital role in the society. These are a good source of Knowledge. It is a place

Yes, I like to visit libraries. As reading good books is my hobby so I like to spend my free time

Yes, I drive a two wheeler and a car. Driving helps me to move independently to do my work. It
helps me to reach my office well in time. Not only this, it saves my time and energy.

According to me, it is not necessary but it has become the need of time. Skills of driving make a
person independent. It not only helps a person but also other family members. Moving on own
vehicle saves time and one can provide help in case of any emergency.

A person who is matured and has knowledge of safe driving is capable to drive. A person who
is above 16 years can drive light vehicles like two wheelers but a person of age 18 years and

It is not compulsory but it is helpful. A trainer guides appropriately and maintains regularity of
training which makes a person learn driving easily. Apart from this, the driving school ensures

Presently, it is not like that in my country, but it can be introduced as a subject in curriculum.

Internet has broadened the horizon of a person. It has brought globalization and modernization

When I was in class 8th, my computer teacher introduced me to internet. In those days, computer
was new in the school and it was compulsory to study computer as a subject. I was always keen
to learn computer and I always scored ‘O’ grade in this subject.

All literate and educated people use internet these days. As internet provides all kinds of
information and it connects people globally, so it is equally helpful to a housewife, a student
and a professional. Even old people like to chat and use of social sites has increased its need
and usage.

Internet delivers all kinds of updated information to a person. So, the search engine is really
helpful in day to day life. One can get all types of information like about admission, job
cooking and fashion etc. It is increasing social circle through social sites, this modern device
has made people busy.
305. Which website do you often visit and why?
These days, as I was preparing for my exams so I was visiting exam preparation sited more for
practice tests. In addition to this, I am planning to pursue high studies from reputed colleges so I
regularly visit national as well as international professional college’s sites from where I find
information related to course and admission.
306. Should children use internet?
In my opinion, children should use internet in limit. As I think. If they spend a lot of time it
kills precious study time and on the other hand, there are certain sites which may mislead and
distract a child’s developing mind. If necessary, it should be done under the guidance of elders.

307. Why are toys important for child?
Toys are the best friends of a child in her childhood. They are their possessions. Playing with
toys helps a child to develop creative mind. Educational toys help to learn and develop skills
too. Playing with educational toys is a perfect example of learning while playing.
308. Which was your favorite toy in your childhood?
A beautiful Barbie doll in red gown with curly golden hair was my favorite toy during my
childhood. I always kept the doll with me while sleeping, eating and playing with my friends. I
used to make her sit on my maternal aunt and it was my companion childhood.
309. What types of toys are popular among children these days?
Liking towards toys is different for different children. Popularity varies according to age and
gender. The most popular toys among children these days are electronic toys particularly remote
control robots and spider man batman etc. Apart from this, girls like to have Barbie house and
Barbie dolls.
TIME
310. Do you wear watch? Why?
No, I do not wear a watch as I don’t feel comfortable. Moreover I have a mobile which is
always with me and I use its watch to see the time.
311. What is the importance of time for people?
Time is very important for everyone. It is well said, Time waste is life waste. Time makes a
person grow, understand and become mature, so time is very important in all aspects. I think
time is neither renewable nor reversible.

312. Do you feel that sometimes times moves slow or fast?
In my opinion time moves in its own pace but when a person is depressed, sad and trapped in
difficulties then he feels that time is moving slow and on the other side, in happy days it seems
that time is flying on wings, it is moving very fast.
313. How do you feel when you are late?
I prefer reaching on time or before time always but unfortunately when I am late, I feel
embarrassed and upset. It also affects my work on that day. So to avoid this I keep myself on
time by starting early and reaching safely.
NEIGHBOR
314. Tell about your neighbor?
My house is in posh area and I have two neighbors. On left side Mr. Sharma, who is a business
man and on the right side Mr. Gupta, who is a lecturer in a local Government college. We all
live happily by helping each other.
315. When do you meet your neighbor?
As all are busy in their professional and family lives but then also in the evening time, we all sit
together and enjoy a cup of tea. In addition to this, we like to celebrate festivals together.
316. How are neighbors helpful?
Good neighbors are always helpful. They are the first and closet relative to be called for help at
the time of any emergency. They provide care, support and always ready to help.
317. Why do sometimes neighbors become irritating?
Neighbors who start unnecessary interfering and peeping into the family matters of other
become irritating. These activities of people are mostly not liked others.
