Creative Art Center Design

The art center in my classroom would enhance a young child’s visible thinking and art
expression. There would be a bulletin board to display the children’s art pieces and at least one easel
that children have access to at all times. Art smocks or adult size button-up shirts will be available for
children to use when using paint and other materials. There will be a variety of materials that a child can
use in organized bins on shelves that are reachable to children. Items such a yarn, pottery clay, tissue
paper and pom-poms will be labeled with a picture to allow for children to choose freely what materials
they want to use and responsible for knowing where it belongs when finished. I will have this center by a
sink to assist with messes that may occur and allow for easy clean up for the child. Activities that enforce
fine motor skills like cutting with scissors and using clay will be available to the child as well. This center
will be colorful and engaging to the children. It will support each child’s uniqueness and individuality.
Children will be encouraged to express themselves in creative ways.
