Work Instruction
Create Equipment IE01
Purpose
Use this procedure to create Equipment.
Trigger
Perform this procedure when you want to create Equipment.
Prerequisites
All the details related to Equipments like Equipment Category, Object Type, Functional Location, Location, Plant
Section, Planning plant, Planner Group should be known.
Menu Path
Use the following menu path to begin this transaction:
Logistics ➔ Plant Maintenance ➔ Management of Technical Objects ➔ Equipment ➔ Create (General)

IE01
Helpful Hints
● IE01 is the SAP transaction code for creating Equipment.
● Equipment is defined as an individual object that is maintained and managed independently in the
system
● Field values can be queried using the F4 help wherever available. This can be done either by placing
the cursor in the field and pressing F4, or by clicking on the match code that appears next to the
field.
● You can click on a field and press F1 to view the Field help. This allows you to understand the field
and decide what contents should be entered.

Procedure
Create Equipment
● Enter the T-Code IE01 and click on icon to create Equipment.
● You can also double click on the menu “Create” as highlighted in the below screenshot to create a
Equipment.
SAP Easy Access
● This opens the screen as shown below.

● Creating Equipment – Initial screen
● Enter the Equipment category like “M” for Mechanical Equipments.
● Enter the validity date of the equipment in the field “Valid On” as marked above.
● Click on enter icon . This opens the following screen.

● You can enter the description of the Equipment in the description field as marked above.
● In this screen you can also enter the physical dimensions of the equipment like size, weight etc.
● In this screen you can also enter the Manufacturer details, Model number, Part number, Year of
manufacture etc.
● The completed screen for this is shown below.

● Click on the tab “Location” as marked in the above screenshot.

● Enter the name of the Maintenance plant i.e. “S2WP” in the field “MaintPlant”.
● This screen also facilitates you to add details like Location, Plant section, Work center, ABC Indicator,
Sort field, etc.
● The completed screen for this is as shown below.

● Click on the tab “Organization” as marked in the above screenshot.

● The entries “Company Code” & “Planning plant” will appear by default in this screen.
● Enter the details Cost Center, Planner group, Main WorkCtr, plant associated with it and Catalog Profile
in this screen.

● Click on the tab “Structure” as marked in the above screenshot.

● You can enter the Functional Location where this equipment can be installed by clicking on the icon
as marked above.
● This displays the screen as shown below.

● Click on the icon as marked above. This displays the following screen.

● Click on execute icon as marked above and this displays the list of the Functional Locations as shown
below.
● Select the required Functional Location as shown above, where you want to install the equipment and
click on enter icon .
● This displays the following screen.

● Click on the enter icon .
● This displays the following screen.
● The Equipment has been installed now at the desired Functional Location.
● In the field “TechIdentNo” or the Technical Identification Number you can enter any meaningful sort
criterion for the equipment. This Technical Identification number helps in searching for this equipment
whenever needed.
● Click on the tab “Additional data 1” as marked above.
● This displays the warranty window as shown below.

● Enter the warranty start and end dates in the fields marked above.
● Check the warranty check boxes.

● Click on the tab “SerData” as marked above.
● This displays the Serialization Data window as shown below.
● In this screen, you can enter the details like material no. of this Equipment which is used in the ware
house and serial no. allotted to this Equipment.
● Click on the save icon to save the equipment.
● This displays the screen as shown below.

● Note the Equipment created message at the bottom of the screen as marked above indicating that the
equipment has been successfully created.
● Click to return to go to SAP Easy Access screen.
● You have completed this transaction.
Result
You have created the Equipment.
