Assessments and Evaluations

Assessment Prior to Unit: Before the unit, I will gather information from my cooperating
teacher to determine what the students already know about each concept I am going to be
teaching. For some of the sections, it is going to be more of a review for the students, but there
are also many concepts that will be brand new to them.

Checks for Understanding During the Unit: I will do checks for understanding by having
the students complete a homework assignment after every part of each section and determining
whether they are showing the work correctly or not. I can also do checking for understanding
by reviewing their online MyMathLab assignments to see what questions the students had the
most difficulty with.

Summative Assessment (end of unit): First I will have the students take an online quiz about
half way through the unit on Chapter 4.1; 4.2. Next, I will have the students take an online
quiz on Chapter 4.3; 4.4. Lastly to end the unit, the students will take a written Benchmark
assessment on Chapter 4 Sections 1-4. (Due to COVID-19, they were not able to take the
Benchmark assessment.)
