Instructions for the 70th TOPIK Exam

2. Preparation : Identification slip, ID card, Writing instruments


※ Examinees can not take the test if the English name on the identification slip is totally different from
the name on the ID card.

3. NOTICES
◈ Examination Notices
 Test fee will be refunded if applicant canceles before the application deadline.
 Examinees must bring the test identification slip, personal identification (identification card,
passport, certificate of alien registration, or driver’s license) and place those items on the
upper left-hand corner of the desk during the test.
 Examinees should arrive at the test site and sit in your designated seat, at least 30 minutes
before the test begins.
 Examinees must arrive in the designated room before the entering time, and can not enter the
room afterwards. (Examinees can only take a test at the designated place you applied for)
 Make sure that the type of questionnaire(odd number/even number), identification number,
and the type of questionnaire marked on answersheet are matched.(Be sure to notify to
proctor if there is something wrong)
 If you have to go out during test inevitably such as due to the use of toilet, you should follow
the corridor proctor to prevent cheating.
 In the case of TOPIK Ⅱ, the examinee who is absent for 1st half cannot take 2nd half and get a
refund.
 Multiple choice questions must be answered with a water-based pen (OMR pen) provided at
the test site in order for the answers to be recognized by the computer and scored. If answers
are indicated by another writing tool such as a pen or pencil that are brought by the test taker,
the answers may be considered invalid.
※ Answers written on the test question sheet and not copied onto the answer sheet will not
be recognized as a valid answer and won’t be scored.

※ Correct form of marking the answers of multiple choice questions on the answer sheet.

 If an examinee needs to modify an answer that has already been marked, the one can raise a
hand and wait for a proctor to come and use a correction tape for the answers that need to
modify. Please note that if one marks two answers, it will be considered as invalid answers.
※ OMR pen (only which can be recognized by the exam-scoring computer) will be provided by
the proctor before examination time.
※ Examinees can bring and use his/her own correction tape.
 Notes or drafts for the test answers can be made on the test paper.
 Mistakes made on the OMR answer sheet can be fixed by changing the answer sheet with a
new one. However, whether or not an examinee completed an answer sheet, everyone must
submit their answer sheets when the test time is over.
 Multiple-choice answers should be filled out in front of the OMR answer sheet, and the essay
should be written on the back of the OMR answer sheet.
 At the end of the test, all examinees must put any of your writing tool down, and place the
answer sheet on the upper right-hand corner of the desk and the test sheet on the upper left-
hand corner of the desk. If an examinee marks or writes down any answer after the test, it is
regarded as a cheating and the test will not be scored.
 Both the questionnaire and answer sheet used must be submitted.
 Even after the test has ended, examinees cannot leave the test room without the test
proctor’s permission. The test proctor will announce for examinees to leave after checking the
number of answer sheets and test papers.
 Missing either of the two half sessions of the exam will be equivalent to missing the entire
test.
 Cheating and other prohibited acts during the test will involve immediate dismissal from the
examination site and disqualification of the scores.

◈ Other Notices
 If an examinee does not bring proper identification (validated identification: an ID with test
taker’s photo, name, and the date of birth, and that has not expired) on the test day he/she
cannot take the exam.
 If the examinee is a high school student, they can bring student’s ID.
 The test will be annulled for those who leave before the test ends, and cheat.
 The transcript of scores is not provided to any of the following people: applicants who miss the
test, test takers who do not bring a valid identification, individuals who do prohibited acts
during the test, or who demand a refund.
 Official TOPIK scores is valid for 2 years from the announcement date of the score (initial
issuance date of the transcript of results).

 If an examinee comes to the test place with prohibited device such as a cell phone, the one
will be asked to hand in them to a proctor. One can get your cellular phone back after the
test.
 It is strongly recommended for all to go to CR before entering your test place.

4. PROHIBITED ACTS*
 Act that involves possessing or using wireless-communication devices (i.e., cellular phone,
Digital Camera, Electronic dictionary, Camera pen, Electronic calculator, MP3, PMP, radio set,
beeper, electronic clock having a wireless function, etc.).

*Examinees who have one of those items must sumbit to proctor before the test.
*If sound is generated from those prohitited items or examinees possess one of those items
during the test, he/she will be handled according to TOPIK regulation.
 Act that involves using pre-made material(s) or reference books.
 Act that involves taking the exam on behalf of a test taker.
 Act that involves showing answers to another person to see during the exam.
 Act that involves disregarding the order(s) of the exam supervisor.
 Act that involves taking an exam using a way that is socially and legally unpardonable.
*If you violate any prohibited act, you will nevertake the TOPIK for 2 years.

5. THINGS TO REMEMBER IN FILLING OUT ANSWER SHEETS


 Don’t make any marks on these barcodes you see below and above the sheet: █ █ █
 Make sure all items you answered on the test paper should also be on the ANSWER SHEET.
 The proctor will give a sign pen to fill out the Answer Sheet before the 1 st Session starts.
 Marker – Use the fine point marker in writing your details on the Answer Sheet. Use the larger
point marker for shading one of the multiple choices on the Answer Sheet.
