Procedure -Emergency Preparedness& Response

1. SUMMARY
1.1 This procedure is established, documented, implemented and maintained to ensure proper
identification of Emergency situations and potential accidents that can have an adverse
environmental impact(s); OH&S Hazards and its appropriate mitigation and response actions.

1.2. Responsibility and Authority for this procedure is spread across various functions within
decided scope. All Staff and Senior Management Team is responsible for responding
Emergencies arising during all the Activities carried out at the Plant and in the office, and the
outsourced functions,

1.3. Note: This procedure has adopted some definitions developed by Locomotive Workshop,
Northern Railway, Charbagh, Lucknow

3. PROCEDURE:
3.1. Aspect - Impact register is prepared the Significant aspects are identified. All concerned are
made aware of these significant environmental aspects and on the method to control them,
Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment register is prepared and substantial and Intolerable risks
are identified and controls are exercised.

3.2. The IMS Objectives are set and strictly monitored for achieving the set targets.

3.3. For all the significant impacts, acceptable limits are defined. The PCB has also prescribed limits
to be maintained / monitored.

3.4. All the staff members are made aware of the accidental environmental violations that may take
place. In the event of any accidental releases, specific environmental and ecosystem effects are
checked,

3.5. Whenever, these situations arise, prompt action is initiated to stop the Violations and if needed,
activity concerned is STOPPED. Suitable correction is instantly made. Thereafter, Source of the

problem is identified and suitable corrective action is initiated.

3.6. If the emission problem is due to equipment mal-functioning, suitable action (s) are taken by
informing service providers. Equipments are also checked for any abnormal noise. If so,
immediate action is taken to control it.

3.7. Leaks in water pipes when observed are immediately attended to. Suitable actions such as
replacement of Washers, Taps, pipe is undertaken as required. Those affected are promptly
informed and advised to take their care and also protect the Equipments and material. Water
conservation activity is planned

3.8. For FIRE prevention, all the care has been taken during initial installations. Wires and fittings are
of good quality and with ISI marks. The competent contractor does the installation.

3.9. Fire extinguishers are installed at strategic locations. They are refilled / checked at regular
intervals. All those around that area, are trained to use FIRE Extinguishers.

3.10. In addition, FIRE alarm is installed at all locations . These shall be tested at periodic intervals.
Security guards and some staff members shall be trained to use these hydrants.

3.11. Mock drills are conducted once in a year. Records of drills are maintained.

3.12. In case of Fire, immediate action is taken to quench it. All the care is taken to evacuate the
persons working in that and surrounding area. Actions are also taken to protect the equipments
and material. Evacuation plan and assembly points are decided and displayed

3.13. In case of accidents First aid is given and the patient is immediately shifted to Railway Hospital
for further medical aid

3.14. In all the above cases, appropriate recording is made and communication given to all concerned -
both internal and external parties.

3.15. Response to emergency situation is done as per emergency preparedness plan .All emergency
numbers are displayed at strategic points
