Importance of communication especially in global crisis

What is communication? How important is communication? Lastly, what is the


importance of communication especially in global crisis like what we are facing today?
These are just some of the questions i have to ask since our technology continues to
develop. According to the dictionary, Communication is the act of conveying meanings
from one entity or group to another through the use of mutually understood signs,
symbols, and semiotic rules. Even animals have their own way of communicating. From

information among people. Moreover communication is the foundation of all human
relationship.

During crises and emergencies, people will be principally concerned about their
health and physical safety, their access to food and essential services, and their
ability1to go your work and earn money. Communities expect to hear from their leaders
in times of crisis. They want to know if they are safe and what is being done to protect
them. Sharing information in a timely and accurate manner can help dispel rumors and
misunderstandings that might otherwise result in fear, panic, suspicion, or indifference.
When the correct information is disseminated quickly, it can reduce death and suffering.
Trough communication we citizens in the community has being updated about the
situation.

disaster. It is critical to communicate effectively with the internal staff, as well as with
clients and also with media. Precise, timely and relevant information is critical during
any crisis and emergency. It is suggested that crisis communication should be an
integral part of an effective communications plan. All businesses should have a crisis
communication plan to ensure that accurate information is provided during an
emergency to minimize problems caused by misleading communications. A business’
crisis communication plan should include multiple means of reaching key stakeholders,
such as text messaging, emails, a business telephone hotline with recorded messages
and to allow voice messages to be left, social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter), a
business’ website. Having a crisis communication plan in advance of a crisis helps in
reducing misinformation, assures an effective communication flow, and increases the
timeliness of messaging. The plan should include key contacts, templates and detailed
procedures on how and when to share information and with whom (taken from
reputation today)
