DETAILED LESSON PLAN

In
MATH 7

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
 explore the process and pattern in finding the square of a binomial,
 apply square of a binomial through different applications in real life situation, and
 solve special product by square of a binomial.
SUBJECT MATTER:
Topic: Square of a Binomial
Reference: e-math 7, Orlando A. Oronce and Marilyn O. Mendoza, page 192-194
Materials: Slide Presentations (Concepts)
Value Focus: Critical Thinking and Explorative
II. PROCEDURE:
A. Preparation
Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity
“Before we start our lesson, kindly pick up dirst
under your chair, thank you.”
1. Prayer (All students will stand)
“Please stand, let’s pray.”

2. Greetings
“Good Morning Class.”
“Good Morning Sir!”
3. Attendance
(Checking of Attendance)

B. Motivation
Slide Presentation: Repeating Patterns
Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity
EXPLORATION.
1. Fill the Tiles:

(Students will participate actively)

2. How many terms are there in trinomial?

3. Complete the following. Use the squared

binomials and the equivalent trinomials based on
the tiles you solved? (Students will participate actively)
a. The first term is the ____________of the first
term in the binomial.
b. The last term is the ____________of the first
term in the binomial.
c. The middle term is ___________ the product
of the two terms in the binomial.

C. Presentation
Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

“Base from completing the tiles you explore a

while ago, and congratulations because you did
quite good. We will discuss today the pattern and
process in solving the Square of a Binomial.”

“Are you ready to know the pattern in solving a

square of a binomial?”
“Yes Sir”

D. Discussion
Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity
 The first term is always the square of the first
term in the binomial.
 The middle term is always the twice the
product of the two terms in the binomial.
 The last term is always the square of the last
(The students will focus and listen)
term in the binomial.

Pattern:
(The students will focus and listen)
( x + y )2 =x2 +2 xy + y 2
( x− y )2=x 2−2 xy+ y 2
In words:
The square of a binomial is the square of the first
term plus (or minus) twice the product of the two
terms plus the square of the last term.

“The simple but very important pattern in solving a

Square of a Binomial is
___________________________?”
“The square of a binomial is the square of the first
term plus (or minus) twice the product of the two
terms plus the square of the last term.”

III. EVALUATION:
