21937 Managing, Leading, & Stewardship (MLS)
Self Reflection

Before semester commencement, I had to enroll in subjects and I was looking to the subjects that I
will be studying in my course. I belong to the country where English is not a national language and so I
was always lacking in my communication skills. I had thoroughly read the subject outline of
Managing, Leading and Stewardship which I found very new and generally speaking it was more
confusing. Then there was a video uploaded for MLS welcome video by Dr. Nikolova and Dr. Walter
Jarvis which was very helpful to me as I was able to understand what exactly this course is about. I
found Managing, Leading and Stewardship will help me be responsible leader, manager as well as
followers.
By assumption regarding this, where this subject will lead everyone to learned managerial skills; stand up
in a society as a good leader. I expect this would help hone my skills, earn proficiency and seek
professional’s exposure. Before applying for the subject Managing, Leading and stewardship, I
went through the subject outline for this subject and it made me feel that it will
improve my professional skills through comprehensive learning in curriculum. I think that this will
encounter me with many challenging activities but exciting nevertheless. With the help of this course, I
believe that I will gain range of ideas and knowledge to become a good manager and to be a good
supervisor. This course builds students professional life and to deal in challenging situation. After
attending tutorial classes it made me clear regarding the subject as develops the concept of stewardship
to help leaders to better understand how to promote and sustain the collaborating integrity of business and
society, i.e. where business serves society's needs not only products and services but also earning public
trust and respect. During the tutorial class we were asked to form groups with people from different
countries. I believe this platform will pave me to earn new methods of learning which will shape my
future in different ways that will enhance my career chances to greater extent. In addition to this, I will
develop myself in a leader and improving my managing skills. I assume after learning this subject it will
bring a truly interdisciplinary perspective to our own principles course. In my opinion, this subject helps
to encourage me to the approach taken in the subject delivery and associated assignments is to encourage
to pursue responsibilities in building trust and help in decision making. Talking about my previous
job whilst I was working as a junior assistant I was to be in charge of few trainee and lead
them. My job responsibility was to assist them and resolve concerns for my clients. As I did
not have any management knowledge to apply as a team leader, which made I had no sense to
lead team members. As being junior assistant as well as the group leader, I begun to behave

rationally. Although I am not working in the company, but I am still worried about the ways for
leading and managing a team. I believe it will improve my critical management skills by studying this
subject. This subject is relevant as it emphasis in strategic, entrepreneurial and leadership.   This course
leads to the understanding of management theories, practice and critical thinking which will help me to
think rationally and handle challenges in future. It tells us how organizations and managers work from
different perspective.
