What do we say
1. Excuse me sir, I’m going to give you a shot. Would you sit here?
2. I will give you a shot. Could you show me your arm?
3. I need you to relax your arm. Please, be still and don’t tense up
4. I am going to administers an injection.
5. This is going to hurt little. Please don’t make to move

How to giving a shot


1. Wash your hands
Wash your hands with soap and warm water to prevent potential infection. Be sure to
thoroughly scrub between fingers, on the backs of hands, and under fingernails.
2. Gather all needed supplies
Assemble the following supplies:
a. needle and syringe with medication
b. alcohol pads
c. gauze
d. puncture-resistant container to discard the used needles and syringe
e. bandages
f. handscoon and mask
3. Locate injection site
To isolate the muscle and target where you’ll place the injection, spread the skin at the
injection site between two fingers. The person receiving the injection should get into a
position that’s comfortable, provides easy access to the location, and keeps the muscles
relaxed.
4. Clean injection site
Clean the site selected for injection with an alcohol swab and allow the skin to air dry.
5. Prepare syringe with medication
Remove the cap. If the vial or pen is multi-dose, take a note about when the vial was
first opened. The rubber stopper should be cleaned with an alcohol swab.
6. Inject the medication
Push the plunger slowly to inject the medication into the muscle.
7. Remove the needle
Withdraw the needle quickly and discard it into a puncture-resistant sharps container.
Don’t recap the needle.
8. Apply pressure to the injection site
Use a piece of gauze to apply light pressure to the injection site. You can even massage
the area to help the medicine be absorbed into the muscle. It’s normal to see slight
bleeding. Use a bandage if necessary.

alcohol pads, gauze, puncture-resistant container to discard the used needles and
syringe ,bandages, handscoon and mask.

Doctor : Excuse me. Good afternoon, Ms. Carter. How are you feeling today?
Patient : I feel fine. I’m just little scared.
Doctor : It’s okay Ms. Carter. Don’t worry. We’re going to take a good care of you. Ok,
now I am going to give you a shot. Would you sit here, please?
Patient : OK
Doctor : Could you show me your arm?
(The patients rolls up his sleeve)
I’m going to swab your arm with alcohol. This might be a little bit cold.
(The doctor disinfects the injection site)
OK, I need you to relax your arm. Please, be still and don’t tense up.
Patient : I’m sorry. I don’t like shots
Doctor : If you feel headache or nauseous, please, let me know.
This is going to hurt a little (The doctor administers the immunization)
Do you feel any tingling or numbness?
Patient : No.
Doctor : There. All done. Please, rub here lightly for a few minutes.

Patient : Morning Doctor, My name is Carter.
Doctor : Ok Ms. Carter, How’s your feeling today?
Patient : I’m feel fine, but little limp.
Doctor : It’s okay, don’t worry. We’re going to take good care of you. Ok now I’m going
to give you a shot. Would you mind if I help you sit?
Patient : Ok, please.
Doctor : Could you show me your arm?
Patient : Oh okay.

Doctor : Now I will swab your arm with alcohol, this might be a little cold.
(The doctor disinfects the injection site)
Patient : Ok, doctor.

Patient : Actually, I am a little scared, Doctor
Doctor : It’s ok, this is going to hurt little.

Patient : Ok, thank you Doctor Gerald
Doctor : Yah, I have to go Ms. Carter. See you soon. If you need a help you can press the
bell and the nurse will come to help you. Good morning Ms. Carter..
