Rotary/Fraternity Collaboration

The business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi is looking for a partnership to help

promote and grow their fraternity by grooming their members their future in the

business world. After reaching out to some local companies Alpha Kappa Psi

realized that they don’t have much to offer being a group of broke college kids.

Richmond Rotary Club is perfect for Alpha Kappa Psi’s plan for collaboration.

Alpha Kappa Psi and Richmond Rotary Club can do a collaboration that will be

both very beneficial for both clubs. Alpha Kappa Psi can work two events a year

for the Rotary Club and in return Rotary can educate them on the values of Rotary

and hope they will join to make the community better in the future.

Alpha Kappa Psi is a business fraternity on campus at Central Michigan and

although they do have some collaborations, they are looking for more. One

collaboration that they have is with the business college at Central. Although

Alpha Kappa Psi doesn’t have a whole lot to offer to bigger businesses or clubs,

they help set up the career fair for the business college.

Richmond Rotary Club is one chapter of 33,000 rotary clubs internationally

and the idea of a Rotary club is to help with the community your club is located in

(Rotary, 2011). The club is made up of many great businessmen and women and

they try to bring the success they have in their life to the community that they live

in. As for Richmond Rotary Club they help not only Richmond, but they also help

surrounding areas such as Armada, New Haven, and Memphis. Richmond Rotary

club supports these communities by giving out two scholarships every year to

local high school students. They also support by endorsing three local high school

robotics teams who were in need for funding to help compete in their robotic

competitions.

You may ask how the Rotary Club gets the funding to support all of these

communities. A couple ways they earn their funding is that they host an annual

golf outing. The golf outing consists of members inviting family and friends just to

have a good time and raise a little bit of money to fund those in need. They also

have a food stand called “The Rotary Red Barn” and every year at the Armada Fair

and the other local fairs they set up for a great week of selling food. I personally

worked the red barn a couple years ago and it was good times working with good

people. During the collaboration Alpha Kappa Psi would volunteer to work the red

barn and help set up the golf outing while the Rotary club would be glad to teach

them the ways of a Rotarian. Being a “Rotarian” means the advancement of

international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of

business and professional persons united in the ideal of service (Richmond Rotary

2020)

The Richmond Rotary Club is all about helping out and even promoting

others and I think they would have no problem helping out a fraternity who is

trying to learn professionalism and business amongst their peers. Being so into

the business aspect in education I think that the members of Alpha Kappa Psi will

excel with this opportunity. The Richmond Rotary Club would be inviting with

open arms to Alpha Kappa Psi as they are always looking to grow their club and

getting some new young faces in there would amazing for the club.

I think that the proposal that Alpha Kappa Psi has to offer to the Richmond

Rotary Club by helping out their events in return for some real experience in the

business world is a fair proposition and will help out both organizations

tremendously. I am excited to see the future of both Alpha Kappa Psi and

Richmond Rotary after this collaboration.
