Project 1 for Photoshop, Due Wednesday, 10/20/10 by 9:15 pm

PROJECT 1: Review Chapter 4: Layer Basics — Use the 04Start file.

Complete pages 96 through 116 step 8 while incorporating the below changes.
For ―let your instructor know what you chose‖ you can either provide a Word file or written notes.

Step 1: Complete the steps on pages 96—102. On page 102 use a larger size than the textbook instructions. Also use
a different color than white. Let your instructor know what you chose for these.

Step 2: On page 102 move the layers as directed. Then create a new layer. Name this layer shell.

Step 3: On this new layer you will be inserting one of the shells from lesson 3. Points will only be awarded for this
step if only the shell is inserted.

Step 4: Change the size of the shell if needed so it fits well on the postcard. You can also choose where to place the
shell. The order of your layers can also be changed to achieve the best view.

Step 5: On page 104, change the opacity of the layer to something other than 25%. Let your instructor know what
you chose.

Step 6: Continue following the chapter instructions on page 105.

Step 7: On page 106, still resize and rotate the layer, but instead of rotating to the right, rotate to the left.

Step 8: On page 107, use a color different than blue for the clouds. Let your instructor know what your choice
was.

Step 9: On page 110 include your first name after the word Hawaii. You may have to resize Hawaii for both of these
to fit.

Step 10: On page 110, use a color for the gradient different than the textbook and let your instructor know what
you used.

Step 11: Continue using the textbook instructions from page 111 to 115.

Step 12: This assignment ends with page 116 step 8. Do not flatten your layers. Save the file as ―04(yourname)‖ Ex-
ample — 04JohnSmith.psd

Step 13: Print out your assignment for your instructor. Turn in the file on your CD.

Chapter 7, Typographic Design

Read this lesson and follow the directions to complete the assignment listed below.
Begin your assignment by using the 07 start file

Complete pages 180 through 196 step 8 while incorporating the below changes.

Before making any changes per the textbook, create and save a selection for the left shirt collar. Then fill this with a
different color. Let your instructor know your choice. Look ahead in the assignment to decide what colors might look
best.

On page 185, before using the circuit board, change the appearance so it’s a different color than green. Use the
method of your choice, but let your instructor know what color you used.

On page 189, substitute the word “MP3” with something of your choice.

On page 194, make the volume number different than 9.

This assignment ends with page 196 step 8. Do not flatten your layers. Save this file as “07(yourname)” Example —
07JohnSmith.psd

Print out your assignment for your instructor. This doesn’t have to be color.

Turn in the file on your CD.
