’Getting Going with Autograph’ Activity

Choosing your preferences

On opening Autograph choose the appropriate

‘Level’ (left). General rule is that Advanced is
required once calculus is introduced or
radians as well as degrees are needed. It is
advisable never to tick ‘Don’t show this again’
although this Level Indicator can be retrieved
under the View Menu . . . choose ‘Preferences’
The on screen keyboard (right) can be found
under the View menu - choose Text to expand

Plotting preferences

Adjust the Slow Plot Speed to your liking

(the slower the better – giving students time
to think when using through a projector!)
For projection in the classroom – decide the
best line thickness from the back of the
room and tick ‘All Thick Lines’

General preferences
Your choice for which region to shade when
graphing inequalities (but by far the better is
to Shade Reject Region!)
Use this to change level and it suggested to
always Show Level Indicator
Accuracy – 3 sig fig is best when using the
Angle Measurer in Standard Level. Use 9 sf
when e.g. carrying out a dynamic investigation
into the value of ‘e’

Whiteboard preferences
The ‘default’ is just to have the first and last
ticked (see opposite). Tick Display Keyboard
if you prefer the keyboard to appear on
opening Autograph (I certainly do!)
Also Use Whiteboard Theme means you will
not need to hold shift when selecting multiple
objects (see ‘Object Selection - two
points’)
