DAMAGE IN TRANSPORTATION
All packages should be closely examined at time of delivery. If damage is apparent write “Damage In
Shipment” on ALL copies of the freight or express bill BEFORE delivery is accepted or “signed for” by
a GE representative or hospital receiving agent. Whether noted or concealed, damage MUST be
reported to the carrier immediately upon discovery, or in any event, within 14 days after receipt, and the
contents and containers held for inspection by the carrier. A transportation company will not pay a claim
for damage if an inspection is not requested within this 14 day period.

All electrical Installations that are preliminary to positioning of the equipment at the site prepared for the
equipment shall be performed by licensed electrical contractors. Other connections between pieces of
electrical equipment, calibrations and testing shall be performed by qualified GE personnel. In
performing all electrical work on these products, GE will use its own specially trained field engineers.
All of GE’s electrical work on these products will comply with the requirements of the applicable
electrical codes.

The purchaser of GE equipment shall only utilize qualified personnel (i.e., GE’s field engineers,
personnel of third-party service companies with equivalent training, or licensed electricians) to perform
electrical servicing on the equipment.

Introduction
This is an instruction on how to upgrade Vivid iq Software from R1.x.x, R2.x.x to V203.

NOTE: After upgrade is complete, original configurations are not supported in V203 system.

1-2-4 Export the patient data


Before upgrade, you can export the patient data to a removable media.

1.) Press Patient on the shortcut bar.


If an exam is in the process, you should end the exam first.

2.) Press Transfer.

3.) Select the destination you want to export.

4.) Select the patient data you want to export, press Add to list or Add all, and then press Copy.

1-2-5 DICOM and connectivity setting


To ensure the Ultrasound system can properly work with other network connections, please record the
DICOM network information as per the following sheet.

Section 1-3Replace CPU module

1-3-1 CPU module replacement procedure


WARNING Remove/disconnect the battery before disassembling or re-assembling the parts.

NOTE: Before software upgrade, replace with the latest version of the Vivid iq V203 CPU module.New
CPU will not support R1.x.x, R2.x.x software version.

1.) Shut down the system, disconnect the power cord and remove the battery.
2.) Unscrew 12 screws.

NOTE: Let the screws remain on the bottom of the system.

3.) Turn over the system and open the keyboard assembly with LCDs.

4.) Unscrew the screw (1) fixing the grounding cable and disconnect the 2 connectors (2,3) to
remove the keyboard assembly.

NOTE: Keep the screw carefully for use of re-assembly.

5.) Remove the keyboard assembly with LCDs from the systems.

6.) Unscrew the 4 screws, and then remove the current CPU module with two hands illustrated in
Figure 1-10.

7.) Prepare a new CPU for Vivid iq V203 system. Align the four screw holes of the new CPU with
the four nuts on the MST board and locate the CPU, ensuring that the heat sink fin on the CPU
is sitting beside the fan.

8.) Push the CPU module on the black position, where the connector is situated, until a click sound
is heard and ensure the CPU will not be freely moved.

9.) Screw the four screws in the order of screw 1, 2, 3, and 4. For the first round, just ensure the
screw cap is touching the CPU. Tighten the screws for the second time in the same order.

10.)Assemble the keyboard assembly with LCDs by connecting the two connectors (1 and 2) and
fixing the grounding cable (3).

11.)Align the keyboard assembly with LCDs with the system bottom part and turn over the system.
Screw the 12 screws on the bottom of the system.

NOTE: Before screwing the 12 screws, ensure the system can be powered on successfully.

1-4-1 Update the BIOS time
1.) Press Power button to power on the system and press Del. on the keyboard immediately.

NOTE: Please connect with an external keyboard every time you configure the BIOS setting on Vivid iq system.

2.) Input the BIOS password Renm@c5 and login the BIOS.

3.) In the BIOS Main page, update the BIOS time to the current time.

4.) Press F10 on the control panel and then select Yes to save and exit BIOS.

5.) Shutdown system after the system completely boot-up.

WARNING Please make sure the patient data have been backed up first, then upgrade the system.

1.) Insert the USB labeled “System & Application Software” into the USB port behind the system.
2.) Press Power button to power on the system and press F7 on the keyboard immediately.
3.) Input the BIOS password Renm@c5.

4.) From the page appearing, select USB as the boot device and press Enter key to finish the
setting.

5.) The system will detect the USB automatically and the screen will show as below.

6.) Click the option “Upgrade the Whole Disk“.

7.) On the confirmation page, select the “Execute” button.

8.) System USB memory stick will be loading. Wait for the software installation to complete. Status
bar on the screen indicates the progress.

NOTE: It will need about 27 minutes to finish the upgrading process.

WARNING Do not interrupt the software loading at any time.

9.) After the upgrade process is completed, remove the upgrade USB stick and click the “Reboot”
button.

NOTE: If you do not remove the USB stick, the software system loading process repeats when the system boots
up.

10.)After you power on the system, it will need you to input a valid license key for SW version V203,
and then press OK.

NOTE: If you have any problem getting the license key, please contact your GE sales representative.

11.)When it shows the Setup Wizard page, you can configure the system settings or exit. For
detailed process, you can refer to User Manual or service manuals.
12.)When you exit the Setup Wizard page, the system can be successfully started.

NOTE: If the ultrasound system has ever been replaced with a new MST board, you will be prompted
to rewrite the serial number during the reboot of software upgrade process.

NOTE: After the system software loading completion, please input the SW option key and ensure that
the options are activated and working.

1.) Reboot the system.


2.) Select Config-> Admin -> System Admin.
3.) Press New.

4.) Enter the SW option key and press Save.

5.) Check and ensure that all the installed option keys are displayed and the status of Options are valid.
- The status “Valid” means the option keys are activated and working.

- The status “disabled” means the option keys are not activated and not working. Check if the option is
installed and if the serial number and option key are correct.

NOTE: If you have any problem getting the SW option key, please contact your GE sales
representative.

1-4-4 Import the patient data


After the upgrade process is complete, you can import the patient data from the removable media.

1.) Press Patient on the shortcut bar.


2.) Select the source as the removable media and the destination as the Local Archive.

3.) Select the patient data you want to import, press Add to list or Add all, and then press Copy.

4.) You can see the green ticks in the status column when the process completes.

1-4-5 Verify the TCP/IP settings


1.) Select Config -> Connectivity -> TCP/IP
2.) Verify TCP/IP settings
3.) Select “Save settings.”
4.) Select OK to continue.
5.) Reboot system

1.) Select Config -> Connectivity -> DICOM
2.) Verify Device settings and Port No.
