Lesson idea implementation:
The BrainPop video will be used to introduce the topic of the seven continents of the world. The students will

continents have been named. The teacher will show a world map on the board and will point to each
continent as the students’ answer. When the class discussion is over, the teacher will explain to the students
that they will fill out a map that is given to them. The students will label the seven continents on the map.
Students can color the map if they choose to. When the students have completed their maps, they will come
to the carpet to have a class discussion. The teacher will ask the students to share one thing they learned.

Reflective Practice:
To extend this lesson to a higher LoTi level, students will be put into groups of 3-4. Each group will be
assigned one of the seven continents. Students will be asked to do research on their given continent. Students
can use books from the library, internet, etc. Students will be asked to make a poster and list five facts about
their continent. When the groups are finished, they will present their posters to the class.
