California Judicial system is the largest in the United States of America, and it is meant to serve

39 million people of diverse backgrounds, which is equal to 12% of the population in the United
States of America. The system has 2000 judicial officers and over 19000 employees who all
work hard in hard to deliver court services to the general public (Keilitz et.al). The legal system
is made up of the Supreme Court, which is comprised of seven justices and has its arguments
heard in Los Angeles and San Francisco. The Supreme Court has the power to review decisions
made by the court of appeal. The system also has courts of appeal, which has 105 justices and
reviews judgments of the superior courts. Besides, the judicial system has superior courts which
have jurisdiction over felony and all general cases. In a year, the superior courts receive
approximately 7 million court filings, courts of appeal receive 20000 court fillings, and the
supreme courts listen to 8000 case fillings.

To be able to administer justice effectively, the judicial branch of California has formulated a
strategic plan under the council of the judiciary and other stakeholders that clearly state the
values that all the professionals in the court should adhere to. Thus, through its strategic plan,
the tribunal has shown passion in delivering justice to the members of the public, improving the
service they offer as well as increasing its scope of operation. To achieve this general goal, the
branch has set several objectives. They include; to ensure free access, diversity as well as
fairness in all its operations, to be independent and more accountable with its activities, to
make the administration and management more modern, to enhance serving of justice to
members of the public, offer education services to its professionals, improve the institution's
infrastructure and improve stable funding for the proper functioning of the organ. The court
aims at achieving the goals through soliciting for public opinions through having open days in
court where members of the public are permitted to contribute.

The strategic plan has also put in place different self-help centers aiming at helping people on
matters on criminal law, divorce, children's custody, housing, and evictions as well as debt
collection. Also, through its strategic plan, the judicial system has demonstrated efforts to
improve its efficiency in serving the public through the launching of programs such as the
Centre for Families, Children and the Courts (CFCC). The program aims at improving the ability
of judicial officers, mediators, court clerks, investigators, and counselors to handle cases
concerning domestic violence (Courts). Evaluating the plans that the judiciary has put in place is
necessary to me, as a seeker of justice, I would like to know and enable other people
understand the plans that the judiciary has put in place not only in delivering of justice but also
in enhancing cooperate social responsibility.

Another way in which the judiciary branch is planning to make its operations more effective is
through the formulation of the Strategic Plan for Technology 2019-2020. For the decision-
makers to formulate an efficient technology, they will mainly be guided by the principles of
access, reliability, and innovation. Through the principle of access, the technology should be
easy to use, and it should enhance fairness as a well good representation of the litigants who
are self -represented. The principle of reliability discusses the ability of the formulated
technology to provide reliable information in the most secure manner. On the other hand, the
principle of innovation will enable the court to be able to collaborate effectively with other
judicial plants as well as being able to enhance its operations. The main strategic goals are to be
able to foster a digital court, to improve innovation by working with Information Technology,
and to reinforce positive changes in legislature.

I mainly resonate with goal one of the strategic plan 2019-2020, which is working towards
promoting a digital court. The scheme aims at achieving this through; establishing new services
that will enable members of citizen have access to court 24/7, enhancing data sharing from one
court to another, facilitate access of information on the courts to the public, enhance
partnership through sharing of knowledge and enhancing collaboration with other courts that
may lack the required technology.

The Mission Statement of Court of Alameda is to resolve disputes fairly and effectively under
the law, applying consistency, fairness, and protecting the rights of the people as provided by
the constitutions of the United States of America (Friedman et.al). The mission statement is
very relevant because it emphasizes how the disputes should be mainly resolved to specify
that disputes should be solved in a non-discriminatory manner while putting into
consideration all the provisions of law. The court's mission also shows the great emphasis on
not only working under the federal statutes but also the national legislation to protect the
rights of the people. Therefore, the Court of Alameda, through its mission, shows its interest
in serving the citizens of the United States of America without fear or discrimination.

One of The judicial branches quotes that I profoundly resonate with is 'the head of state
position is not permanent, but the position of the supreme courts lasts forever' (Knight et.al).
This quote is essential in guiding the court towards avoiding political manipulation by the
elected leaders, thus acting independently. The quote also serves as an inspiration to the
citizens of America as it assures them that in delivering justice, the court will do so, putting into
consideration impartiality.
