When Fisher's exact test was done to compare the participants' recommendation for the

addition of content-based education towards clinical research, it showed a statistically

significant association (. Out of 48 participants, only 7.6% said they did not consider the
addition of clinical research disciplines as an approach to improving employment opportunities.
Interesting to note, a majority of students that expressed willingness to the inclusion of
content-based education to their current program were those that pursued science-based
courses (n = 28). However, 77.7% of PhD students that sought medical directions, such as
nursing, did not show a willingness to participate in clinical research through pharmaceutical
companies.

The subjects were equally asked a multiple-choice question with four possible responses, one
which consisted of the application of content-based education in PhD programs and the
relationship between clinical research and general research. Of 50 participants, a majority of
students (n = 37) correctly identified the relationship between clinical research and extensive
research in their disciplines. Of the rest, 7.02% (n = 8) thought that clinical research included
scientific investigations that required laboratory students to examine treatment intervention
for human disease, and 4.4% (n = 5) were not sure. Even though the results were deduced from
the above analysis, further studies should conduct an exact chi-square testing to compare the
incorrect and correct responses for the use of content-based education in science-related PhD
programs.

Additional analysis was conducted to establish the reasons for students that indicated the need
to include clinical research discipline in PhD programs. Table 3 below summarizes the responses
for the participants.
