Tabako University is a well-known school in the Province of Laguna.

The Security
department through the advice of the MIS department implemented a rule which
will subject every student’s LAPTOP to inspection in order to ensure that NO
pornographic materials, pirated software and other prohibited materials are stored in
a student’s laptop.
Mr. Manny Yac is the President of the Supreme Student Government (SSG) and
contends that such a rule violates their privacy rights guaranteed by the
Constitution because a laptop is a personal property especially their contents.
The Security Chief counter-argued and contends that their school bags as well as its
contents are also personal property but the inspection of such is not being ruled to be a
violation of privacy rights. Thus, inspecting laptops and their contents cannot be said to
be a violation of a student’s privacy rights. The Dean of Student Affairs ask your opinion
with the foregoing legal issue.

Each person can do what they want with their own personal belongings they paid
for or received as a gift only the owner and the person with permission of the owner can
use it unless, this belonging stole by other people
I am in favor of what Mr. Manny said, because laptops is a personal property of a
student, only the owner itself has the right to use it and no one else can have the access
on it if and only if, the owner give you permission or laptop is steal, inspecting elements of
it would really violates the privacy of rights of the owner. In this case, the laptop Is a
personal property and the files and other important data there are confidential, what is in
their laptop such as pornographic materials are not their (School) concern anymore,
because it is a university. and the student can freely do what they want but be sure to
abide the rules and regulations of the school. Student in university is matured enough to
know what is right and wrong. It is for them to know what consequences they might
receive if they continue what they are doing. About the bag, it is an exemption because
students understand that it is a protocol for their safety, even in the malls inspection of
bag is required for detection of unwanted things that make cause harm to others. Bag
checks are voluntary, but they will usually be part of the rules and regulation in the school
(Sometimes) to avoid trouble but it must have the limit like they should not touch your
bag or any items on it, you may require to move items in your bag to let them see inside
easily. Inspector may be liable for assault if they forcibly search your bag without your
permission.
The safety of every one is very important and must be prioritize, Student who
caught with hazard in their bags should be punished. And also you can let other inspect
your laptop if you wholeheartedly give your permission.
