Chapter 4:Ratios, Rates And Proportion ( Nisbah, Kadar dan Kadaran)

Ratio is used to compare two or more quantities of the samekind that are measured
in the same unit.

Example 1: ratio of 5 000 g to 9 kg can be represented as

5 000 g : 9 kg = (5000÷ 1000)kg : 9 kg
= 5kg : 9kg
The ratio of a to b is written as a : b.

Example 2: Represent the ratio of 0.02 m to 3 cm to 4.6 cm in the form of a : b : c.

0.02 m : 3 cm : 4.6 cm = (0.02x100) cm : 3 cm : 4.6 cm
= 2 : 3 : 4.6
= 2x10 : 3x10 : 4.6x10
=20 : 30 : 46
= 20 ÷ 2: 30 ÷ 2 ∶ 46 ÷ 2 (simplify/permudahkan/ 简化)

Example 3: Represent the ratio of 1 hour to 23 minutes to ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑟 in the form of a : b : c.
