 The Indian Himalayan Region is spread over 11 states and 2 UTs, namely,

Jammu and Kashmir (UT), The Union Territory of Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh,
Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram,
Tripura, Assam and West Bengal.
 Western Ghats range over six states, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Goa,
Maharashtra and Gujarat. 
 Pulicat Lake is the second largest brackish water body after Chilika Lake (in
Odisha) and is shared by Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
 The characteristic feature of the cold weather season over the northern plains in
India is the inflow of cyclonic disturbances from the west and the northwest. 

 The low-pressure systems originate over the Mediterranean Sea and western Asia
and move to India.
 The western cyclonic disturbance is important for Rabi cultivation.
