1.Introduction

I am Hamda Ahmed Al Ali and currently working as marketing manager in reputed


government department (Sharjah Economic Development Organizational
Structure) and holding a 15-year of excellent career with many big achievements in
different organizations. It was my utmost desire to serve government departments with
my abilities and lead the work with a participative leadership style that provide the
company to achieve their goals.

Y
ear 2005, was a year of blessing for me when I started my professional career as
a trade finance officer. Within the 5 year of period, awarded and promoted to the
higher position as a vice trade finance officer to manage and control the import &
export section of the bank. While working as a senior officer, I have put all my efforts;
prove my leadership of my work successfully.

In order to diversify my career span, I move to the government organization to visualize


my dreams to headed and lead the government organization, improve the style of work
and make changes in the betterment of the organization.

In the year 2015, I resigned from the bank and joined the communication department of
government sectors. There are three section of communication department as media,
public relations and marketing. I appointed as events and expiation coordinator in
this organization and spent 3 years on the same level and after that, they promoted me
as a marketing manager to head the department.

I would like to give you some information about my organization as per below:

Part 1:
One of the most vital experience of my life is a Leadership. It was a revelation for me,
taught me many different leadership insights, and allowed me to have a deeper
understanding of what leadership is and how things can be applied to it. The following
insights I gained from this course:

Be Your Own:

The following learning was there:

 In leadership, leaders never copy others peoples.


 Leadership helps you be your own person.
 It lets people adopt unique personalities.
 Leadership have different style and everyone has its own.

Own Behavior:

The course taught me that:

 Leaders have their own behaviors.


 They always to adopt new pattern of thinking.
 They never follows others.

People and Being Smart:

The course enable me to surround myself with people whose are usually smarter. The
following points were there:

 Leadership requires courage to surround yourself with people who are smarter
than us.
 Leaders always prefer to be friends with those with whom they learn.
 Always stand with bright people in the group.
 Leadership is all about letting go of ego.

Risks and Innovation:

Leaders always take risks and make big decisions. The detail is as follows;

 Leaders have to take risks.


 Leaders need to be innovative which ultimately profits their company.
 Leaders always want to take different paths.
 Leaders have the courage to go for things beyond their horizon.

Recognize Success:

 Leaders celebrate success.


 They are always amused when there is a successful activity.
 They always recognize the outputs.
 They set a culture of recognizing success.

Above the Fray:

It is all about the transformation of life when people become leaders and it changes the
leaders’ life. They have to:

 Adopt the new roles.


 Be the ones who known as leaders and thus adopt leadership styles.
 Let go of their old lives but do not forget the relationships.
 Leaders conduct themselves in such a manner that they have to be in their new
life.
 Leaders refrain themselves from being too open after they become leaders of their
teams at the workplace.

Organizational Chart:

 Leadership allows flattened organizational charts.


 Leaders usually do not believe in hierarchies.
 Leaders give autonomy and freedom to their employees.
 Leadership is all about empowerment.

Transparency:

 Leadership is all about transparency.


 Open door policies should be there.
 Leadership allows leaders to openly speak to media and press.
 When leaders are in power, they do not lie or hide.

Dignity and Respect:


Leadership allows people to show dignity and respect towards other. This is because a
leader is like a supreme institution. It includes the following points;

 There should be dignity and respect for others.


 Everyone is equal at the workplace.
 Leaders must not differentiate between their employees.
 Leaders have to make people proud.
 Ethical standards are set by leaders.
 Leaders have to care for the wellbeing of their company.

Customers:

When leaders are at the helm, they must care about their customers. They must be an
autocratic leader:

 Leadership taught that customers are the lifelines of company.


 Competition is huge and thus customers must be retained.
 Customers should not be taken for granted at any cost.

Leadership course inspired me to become a leader because it helped me understand


these points and some more as well.

Support Industry:

When leaders are there, they have to do the following:

 Get valuable information from the market.


 Support their industry in hard times.
 Leaders have to help their industries as well at times.
 Valuable information is very much necessary when it comes to industries and
leaders.

Ambition:

Leaders have to be ambitious:


 Leaders want to achieve more and more.
 They never sit back and enjoy.
 Leadership is all about taking new challenges and experiencing new situations.
 Clear priorities must be set.
 Leaders always strive for excellence.

3.Part 2:
Leadership Challenges:

During my tenure of working as a marketing manager, several challenges welcomed me


to face them and conquer the workers with my leadership style. However, I have faced
being a part of my company. The detail of these challenges are as follows;

Team Issues:

 I faced so many challenges as when I become a leader among my co-worker;


firstly, they did not expect me to be their leader as some of them had more
experience.
 Therefore, I tried my best to make a good relationship with them to solve this
situation.
 Second challenges I had to rebuilt the section from beginning because the previous
leader incurred so many losses and fail in the organization.
 So, I make a short-term plan to see if it works or not and also I visited so many
organizations to take a benefit and idea for them how they run their organizations
successfully.

Best Talent:

Searching for the best talent is always, a difficult factor. The market was huge and thus
finding the best talent in the market was difficult. A potential talent always caused a lot
of time to be found and thus the entire energy and resources were spent. This was one
of the challenging issues I faced during my time as a leader.
Opportunities:
During my time as an employee, there were several
opportunities, which I have seek. Because leadership
is, a fundamental responsibility and thus leaders have
to manage a lot of different situations and scenarios.
The following opportunities were as:

Became Leader in 3 Years

It was the biggest achievement to become a leader in


the span of 3 years. It was very challenging for me to
prove myself in the organization as right man at the
right place. It was also challenging when other co-
workers also pushing the HR to get this position because they feel they deserved more
than they and me can do better work. Also the challenges which I faced in my social life
especially in the government sector how I come as a leader in the short period of time
even I don’t have a person relationship with big management. So when they hire me in
this position I approved that if you are a hard work person and you make a lot changes in
the organization you will get I hire position without person relationship.

Cross Cultural Experiences:

This position have built my personality and enable to be more efficient, enthusiast to
handle the organization’s department and enrich with the very challenging and cultural
experience.

Strengths:
I have explore my skills and abilities as a leader, come up with new ideas, provides
benefit to the stakeholders. I have to manage the events for employees and customers
and always focused on cost effective and motivational events for employees.

Further, it was very challenging to manage the marketing and advertisement on different
social media platform, honor them with certificates, improve the organizational brand
image and goodwill, handover trophies through chairman. These activities provides me
with strengthen to my career and improve the image of the organization.

Weaknesses:
Leadership taught me to control the emotions and avoid the worst reactions of others peoples to
prove capabilities and to tackle the situations. However, these makes the work disorganized,
which become the weakness of the individual.

4.Part 3:
Career Progression:

As a marketing manager, lot of efforts and energies are required to become a good
leader and employee at the same time. Everyone focused on the career path to expand
and improve the skills to get a better position.

I have planned the following goals:

 In the next around 15 years, I have a decided to choose a big company with the
strategic position.

Plan to Achieve

I will work on harder, diversify career experience in different companies, and learn the
new skills and experience that will provide me a way to achieve my goals.

Threat
Job Security and Discrimination

In the bad economic conditions of the organization or economy as a whole, might face
with the threat of losing a lucrative job in big scale organization or due to the
discrimination between the management, there is also a chances of losing a job.
