Assignment Sheet

For this writing assignment we will explore the wonderful world of poetry. Not only will 

you see phenomenal examples, you will get to hear the power of spoken word. After doing so, 

you will get the chance to channel your inner writer. You will write your own poem. This 

assignment will have 4 parts that will count towards the overall grade. This assignment is 

worth 50 points. 

Part One: You will submit a rough draft of your brainstorming and ideas. We will have a 

scheduled 1:1 meeting, at which I will sign-off on this step. P

​ art one is worth 10 points.  

Part Two: You will be in groups for small group sharing. During this time, you will have 

the chance to offer feedback to your peers, and they will do the same for you. You will need to 

submit the feedback sheets you receive for grading. P

​ art two is worth 15 points (5 points for 

each feedback sheet)  

Part Three: After or during your writing, you will find some visual aid to support your 

piece. There are limited rules, just be creative and appropriate. I will come around and check 

off your visual aid. If you have trouble choosing one, please let me know and I will assist you. 

Part three is worth 5 point  

Part Four: Once you’ve completed the above steps, you will present the poem to the 

class. You have two options for the presentation component. Option one being that you can 

verbally present during your time slot. Option two allows you to record the poem before your 

time to present, and showing your video for the class. ​The presentation component is worth 20 

points.  

Following your presentation, you will submit the final copy of the poem typed, along with the 

other 3 written/visual parts.
