Home teaching and learning with the aid of technology

Over the years, technology has revolutionized our world and daily lives. It has
created amazing tools and resources, making useful information and materials
accessible for everyone. Although technology has an important role in world’s
development, there are both advantages and disadvantages behind its use in
education.
Firstly, the students have instant access to countless resources that can increase their
learning experience and their knowledge. Those days when they had to go through
piles of books or notebooks to find a specific lesson or information are gone, due to
technological process that made possible finding whatever they need within seconds
on the internet, including textbooks available online. Since a lot of time is saved
during research, students are able to incorporate a lot of information and knowledge
in their projects. Also, the assimilation of different solutions and results all over the
world is now possible, which is likely the most obvious benefit a student gets in his
school life.
Secondly, since technology has become an important part in modern world, the
students are bored with the old teaching ways such as handwriting or reading and
learning a lot of books, so the new teaching methods are encouraging now students
to study with pleasure, whether they do this from home or go to a public/private
school . Advanced new ways of gaining the information, like podcasts, video
blogs(also known for vlogs) or social media can stimulate teens and help them
discover their skills. For example, when working with a particular group or one-on-
one, teachers can take advantage of web conferencing technologies other online
communication tools, providing learning oportunities outside the classroom.
Technology for education also presents universal tools that enable teachers to
educate all types of students, including those who are struggling or have special
needs and learn from home. These include voice recognition, text-to-speech
converter, translator, volume control, word prediction software, and other assistive
technologies.
On the other hand, the presence of technology in the study process can be distracting
to students. Students may find it hard to concentrate on a lesson while they have a
digital device around because having these devices create a temptation to search for
other things unrelated to the subject. Only clear boundaries and expectations to
follow can counter this issue so that technology can provide a needed learning
opportunity.
In addition to this, technology is a resource that not everyone can afford.Whether
technology is in the classroom or at home, there is the issue of affordability to worry
about in today’s world. For example, some parrents cannot afford to purchase
computers for their kids to manage their school work. There are school that don’t
have enough money to pay their salaries each year, much less add new tech
components for learning. That limits the effectiveness of technology and alters the
learning opportunities that students have in a negative way.
In conclusion, integrating technology in education has its advantages and
disadvantages, but the proper implementation might help keep the drawbacks to a
minimum.
