2. INTRODUCTION
Fire Fighting System is mainly designed for the fire department use to provide quick and convenient
means for obtaining effective fire protection. It fights fires of serious proportions in all classes of risks
and continues to be in full operation even if parts of affected buildings or structures have collapsed. It
also keeps cool all adjoining properties, thereby minimizing the exposure hazard.

4. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A fire water piping network is planned with provision of internal, yard hydrants at regular intervals,
fire detection and protection system. The pipelines shall be laid inside the plant to cover all areas.
Internal hydrant shall be provided inside the premises, floors of the buildings, junction houses, office
building, conveyor galleries, storages, entry and exit of the electrical premises etc.
Hydrant piping shall be laid underground with proper rapping & coating. However, piping for internal
hydrants shall be laid as per requirement. Yard hydrant will be provided with a hose box nearby to
contain two nos. of 15 m long hose (yard hydrant)/two nos. of 15m long hose (internal hydrants)
along with 1 no branch pipe with nozzle.

3. Hose cabinet shall be fabricated out of fiber reinforced plastic (thickness 2.5 mm) with glass front (for
indoor installation, One number Hose box for each landing valve to keep 15m long hoses (2 Nos.) branch
pipe, nozzle and spanner) consisting of the following:
a) IS:636 Type-2 Reinforced rubberized fabric lined flexible canvas hose of 15 m length having 63mm
(1988) & dia, each fitted (as per IS:1648:1961) with instantaneous male Coupling at one end
IS:903 (1984 R.A.- and female Coupling at the other end.

B Yard Hydrants
1. IS:5290 Fire hydrant (landing valves) single outlet oblique type of 75mm flanged inlet,
Type-A 63mm outlet with hand wheel, Instantaneous stainless steel male & female coupling
