“Honor, I am primitive. I don’t have a proper measure, but I do have a scale.”
The judge asked, “Then how do you weigh the butter?”

The farmer replied;
“Your Honor, long before the baker started buying butter from me, I have been buying a pound loaf of
bread from him. Every day when the baker brings the bread, I put it on the scale and give him the same
weight in butter. If anyone is to be blamed, it is the baker.”
Moral of the story:
In life, you get what you give. Don’t try and cheat others.

To teach Chico a lesson, next morning, his master took him to the pond nearby. Chico exclaimed, “Look,
Master! Cranes have only one leg!”
The master clapped his hands and all the cranes uncurled their other legs and flew away.
“You fool! Did you see they have two legs!” cried the master.
Clever Chico replied, “Sir, why didn’t you clap your hands at the table? You would have got two legs!”

boyfriend. Her boyfriend asked her, “now that you can see the world, will you marry me?”
The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind too, and refused to marry him. Her
boyfriend walked away in tears, and later wrote a letter to her saying:
“Just take care of my eyes dear.”
Moral of the story:
When our circumstances change, so does our mind. Some people may not be able to see the way things
were before, and might not be able to appreciate them. There are many things to take away from this
story, not just one.
This is one of the inspirational short stories that left me speechless.

🔺If you’re in a meeting and someone says something that you don’t agree with, how would you
respond? There are many different options.
🔺You could say:

🔺There are also many other options. Which one is the best to choose?
🔹This depends on several factors, including how strongly you disagree, the relationship between you
and the person you disagree with, and the culture both of the person you disagree with and the other
people in the meeting.
🔹Saying I disagree or you’re wrong is very direct and can possibly cause offence in some cultures.This
way of disagreeing is very uncommon in British English as it is viewed as too aggressive in that culture.
🔺 The most common way to disagree in British English is to use the basic structure:

you want to show you agree with someone, you can simply say ‘yes’ or ‘I agree’. If you want to show
that you strongly agree, it’s common to add a strong adverb before agree, such as ‘I completely agree’

most polite form at first, you can always change to a more direct, informal style once you feel more

Phonological change: Between 1400 and 1600 CE, the Great Vowel Shift took place. The seven long
vowels of Middle English underwent changes. The high vowels [i] and [u] became the diphthongs [aj]
and [aw]. The long vowels increased tongue height and shifted upward, and [a] was fronted. Many of
the spelling inconsistencies of English are because of the Great Vowel Shift. Our spelling system still
reflects the way words were pronounced before the shift took place.
Morphological change: Many Indo-European languages had extensive case endings that governed word
order, but these are no longer found in Romance languages or English. Although pronouns still show a
trace of the case system (he vs. him), English uses prepositions to show the case. Instead of the dative
case (indirect objects), English usually the words to or for. Instead of the genitive case, English uses the
word of or 's after a noun to show possession. Other cases include the nominative (subject pronouns),
accusative (direct objects), and vocative.
Syntactic change: Because of the lack of the case system, word order has become more rigid and strict in
Modern English. Now it is strictly Subject - Verb - Object order.
Orthographic change: Consonant clusters have become simplified, such as hlaf becoming loaf and
hnecca becoming neck. However, some of these clusters are still written, but are no longer pronounced,
such as gnaw, write, and dumb.
Lexical change: Old English borrowed place names from Celtic, army, religious and educational words
from Latin, and everyday words from Scandinavian. Angle and Saxon (German dialects) form the basis of
Old English phonology, morphology, syntax and lexicon. Middle English borrowed many words from
French in the areas of government, law, religion, literature and education because of the Norman
Conquest in 1066 CE. Modern English borrowed words from Latin and Greek because of the influence of
the classics, with much scientific terminology.

In sentence (a) snake is the object of the sentence and in sentence (b) snake is the subject of the

There are three types of transitive verbs in Indonesian, namely extransitive verbs, dual transitive verbs,
and semitransitive verbs.
1. Ekatransitive Verbs
From the name alone, it can be seen that ectransitive verbs are verbs that are only followed by one
object, for example:
a. Budi makes toast.
b. Mother is cooking rice
2. Dwitransitif Verbs
Dual-transitive verbs are verbs that are followed by objects and supplements.
a. Dad is making kite brother
b. Mother named her baby Winda
In the example above, the kite and Winda are complementary because they cannot be subject when
passive. Meanwhile, our siblings and babies can be subjected to passive sentences.
a. You made kites by dad.
b. The baby is named Winda by Mother.
3. Semitransitive Verbs
Semitransitive verbs are verbs that can be followed by objects and may not be followed by objects. This
is different from ectransitive verbs where the existence of an object must exist.
a. Dad is reading a book

majas is a form of language style, in English, majas is also called figurative language.s Majas itself has
many functions or uses, there is a function to give a subtle impression or an exaggerating impression of
something.
As follows 7 examples of types of majas in English 🙂
1.Alliteration
Alliteration is a form of speech in English where it has a function to beautify a sentence in English.
Alliteration is usually in the form of repeated consonant sentences.
Example:
The wild and wolly walrus waits and wonders when we'll walk by.
2.Idiom
Idioms are also part of figurative laguage or majas in English, idioms function to give a figure of speech in
a sentence.
Example:
my mother has golden heart
I sing with the top of my warp
I believe that she has a golden heart
3. Report
that is a form of speech or figurative language used to compare things.
Example:
the road is a sea of fire, it's so hot
I feel in heaven if I live here
4. Onomatopoeia
Is a form of speech in English that mimics the sound of an object.
Example:
The sheep say baa
I heard the queen says buzz
5. Personification
Is a form of majas in English that is used to turn dead objects.
Example:
I hear the sound of the sea
I see the sun smile to me
tree is dancing with the wind
6. Simile
Is a form of speech in English which is used to compare two different things by using the words like and
as.
Example:
your lip is like a red rose
his attitude is as cool as the ice
7. Cliche
Is a form of speech in English that is often spoken.

People have been telling stories about King
Arthur for hundreds of years. Even today, these

tales are alive in people’s minds. Those who love these tales know precisely or exactly every detail of
Arthur’s story.
They can tell about the Round Table where Arthur and his
knights met as equals. In their minds, they can picture clearly the
towers of the castle at Camelot and the banners flying outside in
the wind. Their vision is so clear that they can practically hear the
sound of the knights on their horses rapidly charging. Of course,
they know too of the tragic love of Sir Lancelot for the beautiful
Lady Guinevere.
Many people can also recite the story of the sword and the
stone that follows.
Before Arthur, there was another king. He died
and left his kingdom mostly in confusion. The lords and knights quarreled frequently.
These arguments were largely about who
should be king. What could be done to stop the fighting?
The answer was this. A test was set up. Earlier, a sword had

One day the dogs again jumped the fence, attacked and severely injured several of the lambs.

so it’s easy to get around … there are various districts all with their own character … you have the
upmarket shops in the centre … you’ll find lots of chain stores you’ll recognise from your own country
but also local brands as well … we have the narrow streets in the Gothic district with lots of fashionable
boutiques and tourist attractions … there’s the Olympic area and the beaches along the coast … and
dotted around the city are some lovely public spaces … parks and squares in the city centre and on the
outskirts of Barcelona where people relax with their friends and family … and of course pavement cafes
everywhere … all that and some great historical places of interest … so it's a great destination for
tourists.

In a small Italian town, hundreds of years ago, a small business owner owed a large sum of money to a
loan-shark. The loan-shark was a very old, unattractive looking guy that just so happened to fancy the
business owner’s daughter.
He decided to offer the businessman a deal that would completely wipe out the debt he owed him.
However, the catch was that we would only wipe out the debt if he could marry the businessman’s
daughter.
Needless to say, this proposal was met with a look of disgust.

The loan-shark said that he would place two pebbles into a bag, one white and one black.
The daughter would then have to reach into the bag and pick out a pebble. If it was black, the debt
would be wiped, but the loan-shark would then marry her. If it was white, the debt would also be wiped,
but the daughter wouldn’t have to marry the loan-shark.
Standing on a pebble-strewn path in the businessman’s garden, the loan-shark bent over and picked up
two pebbles.
Whilst he was picking them up, the daughter noticed that he’d picked up two black pebbles and placed
them both into the bag.
He then asked the daughter to reach into the bag and pick one.
The daughter naturally had three choices as to what she could have done:
Refuse to pick a pebble from the bag.
Take both pebbles out of the bag and expose the loan-shark for cheating.
Pick a pebble from the bag fully well knowing it was black and sacrifice herself for her father’s freedom.
She drew out a pebble from the bag, and before looking at it ‘accidentally’ dropped it into the midst of
the other pebbles. She said to the loan-shark;
“Oh, how clumsy of me. Never mind, if you look into the bag for the one that is left, you will be able to
tell which pebble I picked.”
The pebble left in the bag is obviously black, and seeing as the loan-shark didn’t want to be exposed, he
had to play along as if the pebble the daughter dropped was white, and clear her father’s debt.
Moral of the story:
It’s always possible to overcome a tough situation throughout of the box thinking, and not give in to the
only options you think you have to pick from.

OK, let’s jump in to today’s lesson. For each collocation I’ll teach you the definition and then give you an
example sentence.

To pass your time doing some activity.
- I spend a lot of time studying English.

Doing something that is not a good use of time.
- Stop wasting time playing computer games and get to work!
♥️*Make Time For*
To “create” time in a busy schedule.
- I need to make time for regular exercise – maybe I can go to the gym before work.
♥️*Save Time*
Something that is efficient and gives you extra time

- Shopping online saves me time because I don’t have to wait in line at the store.
♥️*Free/Spare Time*
Time in which you have no obligations, and you can do whatever you want.
- In my free time, I enjoy reading, painting, and cooking.
♥️*Have Time*
Be available to do something.
- I’d like to take violin lessons, but I don’t have enough time.
♥️*Kill Time / Pass The Time*
Do something to make the time pass faster while you’re waiting for something else.
- Let’s bring some magazines to help pass the time on the train ride.
♥️*Take Your Time*
You can use as much time as you want, you don’t have to go fast.
- “I like all of these computers. I’m not sure which one I want to buy yet.”
- “That’s OK – take your time.”
♥️*On Time*
On schedule, at the right time.
- It’s important to arrive on time for a job interview.
♥️*Just In Time*
At the perfect time, soon before something else happens
- Hi, Henry! Have a seat – you got here just in time for dinner.
♥️*Have A Hard/Rough Time*
Something difficult, or a difficult period in life.
- I’m having a hard time solving this math problem. Could you help me?

An expression that means “Finally!”
- It’s about time they fixed the air conditioner in my classroom! It’s been broken for three years!

In a rush, in a hurry (when you need to do something and you don’t have enough time)
- Sorry, I can’t talk at the moment – I’m a bit pressed for time. Can I call you back later?

- I ran out of time before I finished the test, so I didn’t answer the last five questions.

the last ten years you may not be able to change that but you can reposition yourself today, you can
make new decisions today that will change what tomorrow will bring, invest in your future, refuse to be

of them is time, save time, save it, keep track of your time, the bible says for us to redeem the time
because it says the days are evil, you don’t have extra time, life is not a game therefore make every day
count for your life, improve yourself every day, introduce something into your life that count, choose to
be a success, become inspiring in whatever you do, do it with excellence. Put yourself and your best in
whatever you do and change your world. Remember there is no extra time therefore whatever you do
now do it the best way the first time. Success is waiting for the man who says yes to success, success is
waiting for the man who plans for it, who reaches out for it, who says I will wake up and he wakes up,
who says I will read this book and he reads it, who says I will go to school and he goes, success is waiting
for the man who makes a decision. So time is important, don’t spend your time watching television 24
hours a day, don’t spend your time watching videos 24 hours a day. Those that you are watching have
put their best into what you are watching. Change the position say to you self ‘’ I WILL BE WATCHED ‘’.
You know sometimes I am concerned, there are those who only thinks of designer perfumes, designer’s
cloths, designer’s shoes, where are your designs, where are your own designs. Challenge yourself for the
future, there’s room for you, there’s a place for you at the top, there’s a place for you. Train your mind
and use it, give yourself to a teacher, give yourself to a tutor, train yourself, train your mind and if you
train your mind it will be ready to deliver to you thought, the right thought and ideas that will earn you
commercial values. There’s no poverty for the man who has made an investment in his mind and is
willing to act, there’s no hunger for the man who has trained his mind, trained his mind to think through
on every problems, to solve every problems, train yourself, think through a problem and render
solution, let men come to you for advise, decide to be smart, decide to be a problem solver, if you make
that decision that’s what you will be, problem solvers are in short supply in the world, there’s a place for
the man who chooses to be one. Engage yourself in national issues; get concerned, some of you here are
the best writers in the country but where are your writings, maybe you are sleeping too much, maybe
you are resting too much, maybe you are playing too much. Now is the time to put your best into that
