Like every year, the 7th session of ReChina Asia Expo was
organised successfully in Shanghai at China International Purchase
Center. Every year new exhibitors join ReChina Asia Expo, which
is the essential reason why ReChina Expo can maintain its vigor
and provide vast amount of choices. This year there came more
than 80 new exhibitors.
Many companies have full confidence in ReChina Expo and regard
ReChina Expo as the best and the only choice. In the same season,
more than 200 companies only exhibited at ReChina Expo. Visitors
can’t see these companies at any other show in the same time.
These exclusive exhibitors provided irreplaceable resources for

Research Projects with Indian Universities

Hub has launched three new projects
aimed at exploring how new online
techniques such as crowdsourcing can
play a role in collaborative research and
open innovation. The Hub partnered
with Indian universities to complete
the projects, including the Indian
Institute of Technology Bombay, Srishti
International Labs and the Indian Institute
of Technology Kharagpur. “Since its
inception, the Xerox India Innovation Hub
has continued to seek opportunities that
enhance its ‘Open Innovation’ program as
emerging markets are a key area of focus
for the Hub’s research programs. The
new projects will explore various new
concepts of collaborative work, through
on-line platforms, social networking and
crowdsourcing,” says Meera Sampath,
director of the Xerox India Innovation
Hub. The projects include Research and
crowdsourcing: Multilingual Resources
and Technologies for Indian Languages
is a project with the Indian Institute of
Technology Bombay that is aimed at

traditional shelf space” retail players and

things such as location and customer
traffic in order to stock the most suitable
skus and products. “We’ll do the entire
planogram to select which OEM (original
equipment manufacturer) cartridges, for
example, stores should carry based on
our monitoring and observations,” Ponzi
said. “Lots of retailers usually load up on
products but no one actually monitors it
and months later, they still have a lot of
stock but by this time, it’s already past
the return period for the manufacturer or
distributor, so then it becomes an inventory
issue. ”With a team of just 63 employees
and a few satellite sales representatives,
the distributor is able to service the entire
country through its Vaughan, Ont. and
Calgary-based distribution offices. With
its relatively small size, Ponzi said the
distributor is able to offer its customers
a more personal touch and can also be
more “flexible” while working with them.
Having served the Canadian marketplace
for the past 20 years, Ponzi said there’s
still a lot of “potential” and room for
steady growth here. “We see a need for
additional shelf and mind space within
the market place to get to the end user,” he
said. “For example, I may be a dollar store
or a convenience store, but if I have SD
cards on the shelves, I can sell it and make
a pretty good margin on it. We encourage
our partners to broaden their horizons so
they can offer more to their customers.
”Unlike other technology areas which
may have experienced a decline in sales
due to the recession, the consumables
space has been a “fairly stable” space,
Ponzi said. Printing volumes have
remained consistent across the board
and more customers are utilizing digital
storage, which illustrates a storage media
device opportunity for partners.

US printer ink recycling
centre booming
A printer ink centre in America is
taking off due to a new printer ink
cartridges recycling scheme. According
to morinvillenews.com, Steve and Denise
Hunter, who run Hunters Print & Copy
in the town of Morinville, Alberta, in
Canada, have begun to offer a recycling
scheme for ink and toner cartridges.
The business has teamed up with a local
recycling firm after they suggested a
pick-up scheme in which empty printer
ink cartridges and toner cartridges could
be collected. Hunter exchange vouchers
for empty printer ink and toner cartridges
brought into the store. Ink cartridges
receive a $1 (62 pence) coupon, toner
cartridges a $5 (£3) one. The pair said
the new scheme was in keeping with
their thoughts on recycling and thought
it set them apart from other printer ink
shops. “As a print shop, we’re trying to
recycle as much as possible,” Hunter
told the news provider. “We’ve heard
of places that just take them back, but
they can’t say what they’re doing with
them.” Hunter told the news source: “It’s
like anything else – if you can reuse it,
it’s better for the environment. ”Earlier
this month a group of school children in
Wiltshire were recognised for their own
printer ink recycling scheme.

Faroudja Offers Bulk Toner for
the Xerox Phaser 4500
F
aroudja Toner has released toner in bags
for the Xerox Phaser 4500. Ten kilogram
(22 pound) bags are sold for monochrome
toner, and can be purchased individually or
in multiple quantities. “We’ve been selling a
lot of the color Xerox Phaser toners, but we’ve
noticed increased demand for monochrome and have made an
effort to carry those as well,” said Marketing Director Tim Farrell.
“The Xerox 4500 is a very nice toner and you get good savings
with the bags.” The Xerox 4500 requires a smartchip, which
Faroudja supplies, and a drum is also available. Additionally,
Faroudja Toner stocks monochrome toner for Brother, HP, Xerox
Phaser and Samsung devices and supplies a wide range of parts
and recharging tools.

MSE Releases HP 5500 Toner Cartridges
with SCS Technology
Micro Solutions Enterprises (MSE) has utilized its patent
pending, SCS technology for the 5500 family of cartridges.

with device of choice, such as a Mac, PC, tablet, or smartphone
and printed out as needed. This also allows users to print directly

TOSHIBA Introduces E-STUDIO1355
Series for High-Volume Environments
T oshiba America Business Solutions Inc. (TABS) today
announced the addition of the Toshiba e-STUDIO
905/1105/1355 series
to its award-winning
product line-up for

printing environments.
Speed is a key feature of this series with copy and print speeds
of 90, 110, and 135 pages-per-minute respectively. Each device
also features a color scanner that can handle up to 80 original
documents per minute, making it one of the fastest color

to handle some of the highest average monthly volumes in the
industry at 120,000, 190,000 and 300,000 respectively, with a

Generation EFI PrintMe Mobile Printing

About 7,200 attendees visited 2010 ReChina Asia Expo. There
are 1280 overseas attendees. They are from more than 70
countries and areas like USA, Germany, England, India, South
Korea, Japan, Brazil, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, Mexico,
Canada, Pakistan, Sirilanka, Hongkong, Macau and Taiwan.

W orld’s biggest printing consumables trade show, the 7th ReChina

Asia Expo, was organised in Shanghai at China International
Purchase Center (CIPC) on Sept. 27th to 29t with great fanfare. The mega
show attracted 322 exhibiting companies and more than 7,200 visitors
worldwide with an exhibiting space of 17,000 square meters.
The opening ceremony held at the first floor of the exhibition center.
Industry leaders and experts, local government officials, leaders of China
computer industry association attended the ceremony. Both the industry
and public media came after this big event.
The first day saw a great number
of visitors coming to the show. The
attendees are from China and other
70 countries including Japan, Korea,
America, England, Germany, Brazil,
India, etc. The show received more
visitors in the following two days.
Peak hours appeared on Sept. 28, the
number of visitors increased by 1200
on the second day of the show. On the
third day, there were still thousands of
attendees including hundreds of new
visitors. The show keeps busy in all
the show hours with business trade
and network among professionals in
the printer consumables industry.
Every year new exhibitors join ReChina Expo, which is the essential
reason why ReChina Expo can maintain its vigor and provide vast amount
of choices. This year there came more than 80 new exhibitors including
Hero, PRINTER COLOR, Beijing Xiangyu, Shenzhen Deston, Foamex,
Dongguan Exploiter, BEIJING MEIKE, Zhejiang Aierpag, LVL, Meilan

and will attend 2011 ReChina Expo.

and Tricia Judge make presentations on-site. Their presentations explored the current
global marketplace, examined trends and opportunities in the imaging supplies industry,
and offered insight on the state of the marketplace from an international perspective.
150 overseas buyers and some top management from the leading enterprises joined the
luncheon briefing.

of exhibitors and visitors, the organizer of ReChina Asia Expo organized ReChina-
World Expo Tour for more than 2000 attendees. Exhibitors and pre-registered visitors
received tickets of World Expo. Thousands of attendees visited the World Expo before
or after ReChina Expo. Apart from potential business opportunities, ReChina-
World Expo Tour added more joy to their ReChina Trip.

T
here is famous phrase in English, the coming events cast
their shadows before. It is a general perception that people
“Work to live”. But in the case of A. Masood Khan,
President of IMAGE STAR, it is the other way, as according to
him he “Lives to work”. It is this strong belief that has shaped
him into what he is today.
Khan was born to very poor parents in a
South Indian city, Chennai and was adopted by
foster parents at the age of four. He had his early
schooling in a local Corporation School with no
exposure to national languages of English and
Hindi, but with having to study only in the local
regional language, Tamil till the twelfth standard.
He did his Bachelor’s degree in Commerce in
English medium, with little background in that language.
During these years, he lost his own mother at the age of ten
and immediately after his graduation, he lost his foster father.
The family had by then used up even the small savings it had
saved by the foster father. The burden of the family naturally
devolved on Mr. Khan, with none to extend help and at least
comfort him in his hour of distress.
It is at this stage that he happened to see the gleams of the
real world and ventured into rough waters of shouldering the
burden at such a young age. He lived only in a tiled house with
no electricity.

of God. Now IMAGE STAR
is celebrating 15th year of
success.
He took up his career as a Delivery Boy and later joined a
small company, delivering printer cartridges etc. He also held
the positions of Sales Executive and Senior Executive and later
joined AMKETTE, a diskette manufacturing company as a
Sales Officer and gained rich experience.
He began his arduous journey towards setting in life and
had, in the process, to go through difficult days
with none except his dependant foster mother. He
raced through life with firm belief that one should
work for work sake, without expectations and
without anticipating any reward or award. He was
also, moreover, inspired by the noble example of
Lord Krishna in the Mahabharata war.
It is a well known fact that Good Deeds always bring
Good Results. The result is the establishment of Image Star
Technologies in 1995 joining hands with Manoj, manufacturing
printer ribbons in a small way. The initial days presented
teething problems mainly due to inadequate experience in
financial planning and Stiff market competition making survival
a daunting task.
The advancement of technology created a demand for ink
jet and laser jet. The Image Star saw in it enormous potential
for its growth and joined with a Delhi based company taking
over the distributorship for marketing its products. The Image
Star promoted there brand in a big way in South India and

soon realized that the Delhi based firm

had involved itself directly in business
deserting the Image Star.
The Image Star lost many of its
dealers and remained helpless unable to
grapple with the situation. This prompted
the company to promote its own product
on a national level and to develop the
dealer and distributor base. So Believed
and Committed to it’s dealer not to face
the situation, which IMAGE STAR has come across the dealers,
under the policy of the company, dealers are real kings of the
IMAGE KING brand in their region with good profit margin.
It adopted the exclusive distributor policy, which enabled the
dealers to enjoy the full brand equity in their region.
The launch of IMAGE KING brand is a milestone in the
brief history of the concern with offices in Bangalore, Madurai,
Secundarabad and in Delhi. Jet Tec, Mumbai based company
extended enormous support in the company’s struggle and in its
hours of difficulties and hence the Image Star is ever indebted to
them. Man with gratitude always grows.
Another turning point, in the fortunes of the company is the
one with Khan having joined ALMA MATER, an institution
which teaches human and human values. The training coupled
with his unflinching faith in the part of Truth and Honest
boosted his morale to a great extent. The company stood to gain
enormous patronage and scaled greater heights in the otherwise
competitive market.

Finally, recalling a simple ancient story A little boy was so
happy to have a glass of cold water on a hot day that he
impulsively thanked the glass. “Don’t thank me,” said the glass,
“thank the tap where I came from.” So he thanked the tap, and
the tap said, “Don’t thank me; thank the well.” So he did that.
The well replied, “You should thank the rain, not me.” So he
thanked the rain, and the rain said, “Thank the clouds.” The
clouds said, “Thank the sun.” The sun said, “Thank the ocean.”
The ocean said, “Thank the one who made me, the sun, the
clouds, the rain, the well, and the man who made the tap and the
glass.” We thank dealers who supported us and we thank God for

I n today’s world the great problem face by the
people across the world is pollution. To control
this paramount problem the entire world has
come together to fight it out and find out some
effective solution to check the this menance. The
ever increasing contamination of air caused by
the use of primitive methods of of destroying the
solid or other waste including the e-waste. Vast
industrilization, use of electronic equipments, and
their consumables and other dispersion of smoke
or fumes from the industries as well as automobile
sectors created havoc for the environment. So,
the developed nations have already implemented
various methods to keep the pollution under
control. Developing and underdeveloped
countries are also following the same footprints
to make their respective countires pollution free.
Very recently China has banned the
destruction of e-waste by the unauthorized people
or organizations. They have issued license to
companies who are equipped with safe recycling
or destruction of e-waste facilities approved by the
Government and Pollution Control Board, failing
which heavy penalty will be imposed including
imprisonment.
Though the government of India planned to
control this menance but may be due to some
other compultions or lack of interest to implement
the strategies, people in majority suffer in silence.
Automobile sector where the government has
implemented strict law that each and every vehicle coming out from
their respective factories should carry pollution control certifications. But
what about other sectors who are induldging in increasing the pollution
including the well renowned and big organization. Probably the lobly of
this sector is so strong that the government can hardly do any thing against
them to control this problem. Why the government of India so reluctant
to issue strictures against the organizations whose manufacturing process
enhance the pollution or create health hazards?.
We have every facilities in our country but most of them remain
ineffective or may be on papers. For example, today, if we visit to areas
where refilling and recycling of laser printer cartridge are carried out
one would find how majority of these refillers/
recylers pollute the environment without any consideration for
environment, or fear for their own people’s health & people around them,
as the pollutants i.e toner dust being made of thermoplastic materials
can cause irreversible human health hazards.
So, it is imperative to have some protective system to control or
arrest the ever increasing pollution in the segment for the sake of clean
environment and human health as a whole.
Though the refilling/recycling of laser printer cartridges has reduced
the e-dump considerably all over the world but at the same time enhance
the scope of increasing the pollution by not adopting the correct
procedures, particularly in the country like India. If the problem of
pollution is not taken care of seriously by the people engage in such
business or by the Government then the time is not far away when every
second person may suffer from lung or heart ailments or other related
diseases jeoparadising the national progress.
