7. All Lifting Operations Require the Following to Be Considered but This List Is Not inclusive.
Cultural, communication and language difficulties Conflicting tasks in area
Weight, size, shape and centre of gravity of load Environmental conditions including weather
Availability of approved lifting points on load Lighting in the pick-up and lay-down areas;
Method of slinging/attaching/detaching the load Proximity hazards, obstructions, path of load
Overturning/load integrity/need for tag lines Working under suspended loads
Suitability and condition of lifting equipment to be used Availability of adequate barriers
Initial and final load positions and how it will get there Experience, competence and training of personnel
Ground and underground considerations Number of personnel required for task
Lifting over live equipment Pre-Use Inspection of equipment by operator
Number and duration of lift(s) Visibility of the load
Requirements during blind lift Visibility of banks-man to crane operator

8. 10 Questions to be Considered for a Safe Lift:
1. Is every one aware of & do they fully understand the lifting & hoisting procedures applicable to lift.
2. Has every one attended toolbox talk?
3. Has a pre-inspection of lifting equipment being carried out & are lifting accessories being marked & tagged with:
Safe working load
A unique identification number
A valid certification date
4. Are all safety devices working
5. Does everyone know the person in-charge of the lifting operation
6. Is everyone competent & aware of his tasks
7. Is there a current lift plan & JSA and does everybody understand the job & precautions
8. Does everyone know the environmental limits (maximum permissible wind speed) for the lift

9. Is the lift area controlled & is everyone clear if the load falls or swings
10. Are signaling methods & communication agreed & clear to all.
9. HSE and Operation instruction (step by Step tasks and its control measures)
The lifting operation shall not proceed without ensuring the followings
1. Raise PTW
2. Provide step by step details of the lifting operation (TRIC/JSA to be prepared)
3. Identify responsible parties in TRIC such as Person In charge/Crane Operator / Rigger / Banks-man
4. All involved personnel signing in TRIC have been delegated to this task, have been fully briefed and understand
what is required to follow and adhere to this lift plan.
