Alexander the Great is one of the most famous leaders in history.

He was in charge of the

Persian Empire and was known as a conqueror. Alexander took the throne when he was 20 due
to the death of King Philip. After his father's death there were small uprisings and rebellions but
Alexander began his campaign against the Persian Empire. Alexander should be known as
Alexander the Conqueror due to his achievements during his invasions.

Alexander began his war on Perisa which took many years. Despite having fewer
soldiers, Alexander remained undefeated in the battles. While fighting in Persia, Alexander was
able to conquer Egypt. He started a quest to conquer India but his troops did not want to go
onward which ended the conquering. Within 13 years of conquering, Alexander amassed the
largest empire in ancient history. His empire was over 300 miles long and was able to do this
without modern day weapons or technology. Alexander was very young when he did all this
starting this at the age of 20. He was able to conquer other places while still fighting in other
areas. He also had an impact in another way, “Alexander's reign marked the beginning of a new
era known as the Hellenistic Age because of the powerful influence that Greek culture had on
other people. Without Alexander's ambition, Greek ideas and culture might well have remained
confined to Greece (Ushistory.org).” Alexander was a great conquer and it is shown since he had
the largest empire in all of ancient history. He also impacted current life today also.

On the other
hand Alexander
might not have been
so “great” after
all. After his
invasion of Perisa it is noted that he came to feel regret for the destruction that his invasion had
caused. He had then ordered repairs made to the damage and felt “distressed” over it. It was also
noted that he had a very nasty temper. He would murder advisors and friends randomly for no
reason. He also “ senselessly slaughtered thousands whose only crime was being in his way
(Ushistory.org).” Alexander may have not been the strong confident leader we all make him out
to be.

Alexander the Great all together was a great conquer. He had amassed the largest empire
before his unexpected death. He did all of this through the ages of 20-25 which is very young. He
may have had a temper and done acts of violence. At the end of the day he still was a great
conqueror even if he had done these things. Alexander the great should be known as Alexander
the conqueror
