Course Description:
The course is designed to provide concepts basic to the practice of clinical nursing.
Emphasis on nursing concepts, procedures, and their applications in the nursing lab
Intended Learning Outcomes and Competences:
At the end of this course the student will be able to:
- Implement measures to correct imbalances of fluids, electrolytes, and acids-
base balance.
- Apply safety measures when replace blood or its products.
- Demonstrate oxygen therapy using different methods
- Perform the skills of inserting enteral tubes, administering feedings and
medications through enteral tubes and removing enteral tubes.
- Perform wound care, utilizing principles of asepsis/sterile technique
- Demonstrate the application, removal and care of urinary catheters
- Demonstrate colostomy care, cleansing enema.
Evaluation system
o Mid exam 40%
o Participation 10%
o Following lab policies 10%
o Final exam 40%

Skill Lab Policies
1. Attendance is required in the skill lab.
2. Student should wear the white lab coat in the skill lab.
3. Student must bring with them the specific book of the skill lab.
4. NO food or drink in the skill lab
