ALL ABOUT PRECAST

October 24, 2009

“ your Partner in Total Value-Engineered Construction ”

WHAT IS PRECAST?

It is a methodology wherein the conventional

method of doing structural or architectural
element will be produced in a controlled
environment and follow quality assurance and
quality control procedure in all stages of
production.

“ your Partner in Total Value-Engineered Construction ”

WHY PRE-CAST?

 Potential construction time savings on the

Structural Works. ( usually 10% - 20% )
 Reduced wet works at site.
 Smooth surface finish requiring no skim
coat finish.
 Earlier enclosure and handover of floors
which:
Accelerates finishing trade works
Increases safety
 Quality controlled manufacturing and
erection processes which provide a
pleasing visual impact during construction
thereby promoting marketing.

“ your Partner in Total Value-Engineered Construction ”

TYPES OF PRECAST
1. Structural Elements ( Beams, Girders,
Columns, Walls, Slabs, Piles )

2. Architectural Elements ( Cornices,

Moldings, Ballusters, Walls, Pavers )

Limit of Discussion : Structural Precast

I. Datemfloor Slab
II. Precast Wall
III. Precast Beam

Scope of Discussion :

1. Design Concept
2. Shop Drawings
3. Manufacture & Delivery
4. Installation at Site

1. DESIGN CONCEPT

“ your Partner in Total Value-Engineered Construction ”

Constructing suspended concrete slabs that involves a combination of
precast reinforced concrete (50mm thk) and poured insitu topping concrete.
Good for conversion of one way slab design.
Conversion from conventional slab design to Datemfloor Slab System. From
deformed bottom bar reinforcement to combination of wire mesh, datemtruss
and extra deformed bars. Concrete strength to be the same
Panel cuts and joints to be approved by the architect on record.
Panel dimension and weight to be dictated by the lifting equipment at site.
Wet areas, MEPF-S rooms & areas exposed to weather to be cast in place.
Maximum width to be 2.484m. Maximum length to be 5.0m
Eliminates conventional slab soffit formworks
Block outs and MEPF-S cast in items can be incorporated within the slab depth
During installation, No temporary support needed for 1.5m span and below.
For 2m – 3m span single prop is sufficient. For 3.25m to 4.25m span double prop
is required.

1. DESIGN CONCEPT

“ your Partner in Total Value-Engineered Construction ”

Design concept similar to conventional
wall
Concrete strength and reinforcement to
be the same
Pre-cast wall support design will be
based on the inter storey drift or floor to
floor earthquake displacement
whichever is greater.
Pre-cast connections can be by anchor
bolts, deformed bars, or welded plates.
Panel dimension and weight to be
dictated by the lifting equipment at site.
Panel cuts and joints to be approved by
the architect on record.
