Subject: Sharing your input with the Vince Gray Education Transition Team

To: Volunteers for the Vince Gray Education Transition Team

From: Katherine Bradley and Dr. Michael Lomax, Co-chairs of the Education Transition Team

Thank you for volunteering for the Vince Gray Education Transition Team. We are writing today with an
update on our work and an invitation to share your insights.

Over the last month the Education Transition Team has hosted 15 Stakeholder meetings on various topics
and in various neighborhoods, listed below. We have conducted conversations with approximately 250
stakeholders during this transition period to re-energize civic dialogue and gather feedback on key
recommendations for education in our city. Each of these meetings has been led by several members of
the Executive Committee, whose names are listed at the bottom of this message.

Thank you to all those who participated in one of these meetings. For those we haven't been able to reach,
we welcome you to share your thoughts by submitting a one-page paper, labeled by topic area or as
General Education, to education@graytransition2010.org by Wednesday, December 29th. Your
comments will be reviewed by the Executive Committee and appended to our final report to be released in
mid-January. We look forward to your input.

Our work has been steered by a core philosophy of Mayor-elect Vince Gray's - that sustainable education
reform can only be achieved by engaging the community as a true partner in transforming our schools.
This transition period is only the beginning of a process of renewed community dialogue and participation
in education under the Mayor-elect. Thank you for being a part of this first stage of the work.

With all best wishes,

Katherine Bradley and Dr. Michael Lomax
