In your sourcebook you should VISUALLY tell

the 'story' of how your final artwork has been
CONCEIVED, DEVELOPED and PRODUCED.
This should be done through drawing, writing,
experimenting, pasting, etc.

Start by doing a mind map on Fire considering the

following:
 Exploring stereotypes and
associations with fire
 Fire expressing social issues e.g.
class differences, poverty, gender,
religion, etc.
 Fire as having authority and/or
oppression e.g. Rulers, uniforms, a
method of cooking.
 Fire with superpowers
 Inspiration by the smells, patterns,
colours, and organic shapes of fire.
 Any other interpretations

Continue by doing the following;

 Research on fire– cultural meanings/symbolism.
 Find at least five artworks where fire plays an important role. Photocopy/draw the examples in your
sourcebook. Be sure to include artist’s name, title, date of work and medium beneath each image
where possible. Select two of the works, and write a paragraph about the formal elements of the work.
 Experiments - a lot -with your chosen media.
 Start to work on your final idea with annotated sketches, drawings. Consider taking your own photos.
 Final compositional drawing/s or colour studies (minimum A4).
