Evidence: The time is now

This evidence is divided into two parts: A composition and an audio file. Read the
instructions below and make sure you complete both tasks.

A. Answer the questions below. Use the examples as models of the grammar and
vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why didn’t you study English before? (List at least 5 reasons in a

composition.)

Example:

One of the reasons why I didn’t study English before it is because I thought it
was too difficult. I didn’t understand my English teacher at school and that
was frustrating.
 1. The main reason of why I didn't study English before was because there
were no economic resources, so I studied what the high school oered.

2. I had no reason to learn English, I was not interested and didn't have the
need.

3. I didn't understand my English teacher at school and that was frustrate, she

didn’t have the skills to educate, also she was like rude with all the grade."

4. Another reason was that by the me I was in high school, everything has
Spanish instructions, so there was no need to learn English&

5. I didn't study English before because I wasn't too good to learn foreign

languages.

2. How different would things be if you had learned English before? (Name and
explain at least 5 things.)

Example:

If I had learned English some years ago I would have accepted a job a
multinational company offered me five years ago. One of the requirements
was to speak English and my level back then was very low.

If I had learned English before, I would have gone to the Us or to another

country where the main language was English

If I had learned English before, now I would be an English teacher at SENA

or in another institution of Colombia.

If I had learned English before, I would be working as a translator for a private
trip agency, giving informationon about the touristic places in Colombia."

If I had learned English before, that would have been so helpful to achieve my
personal goals at the university.

If I had learned English before, probably I would have my C2 English

certification.
B. Record an audio file of yourself answering the following questions. Use the
examples as models of the grammar and vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why are you studying English? (List and explain at least 4 reasons.)

Example:

I’m studying English because I finally decided that if I want to improve my

professional profile becoming bilingual is essential.

2. In what ways are you going to benefit from this learning?

Example:

Being competent in English is going to increase the opportunities of landing a more

satisfying and better-paid job. We live in an international open market and English
is the most important language.
