QUESTION-

Identifying the problem, creating pyramid structure to propose a better solution for
following business scenario.
Case of a Courier Delivery Company
For example – BlueDart connected with different e-commerce portal
1) Delivery boy delivers the order, gets a delivery confirmation slip
2) Submits slip in his office
3) Office collects all the slips and segregates for different company
4) Send the consolidated slips along with consolidated report and bill (weekly or
monthly)
5) E-commerce company receives the consolidated bills from Delivery Company
6) Validate against the delivery details- confirm and create the payment slips
7) Transfer amount in BlueDart account and intimate them
Analyse problem and create pyramid structure to justify the change in process, and its
benefit

Solutions:
The Problems with this Blue Dart case are the following:
1. Process is too long:
The number of steps throughout the delivery process when the delivery boy receives
the confirmation slip from the respective e- commerce companies to the final payment
is high and has multiple duplications of tasks that can be removed for faster
processing of a simpler business.
2. Time:
The time taken to complete the entire process and send the consolidated bill to the
respective e-commerce is a time-consuming process that requires a great deal of
manpower that can be prevented. The e-commerce company must then validate each
delivery and process the bill to delay payments.
3. Duplication of tasks:
In this case, the delivery boy receives the slip and submits it to the BlueDart office,
which then segregates according to the respective companies and then sends it to the
e-commerce company on a weekly or monthly basis. There, the company must also
validate all deliveries and process the bill.
4. Reconsolidation between BlueDart and E-commerce Company:
If there are any problems with this whole setup, the reconsolidation on both sides will be
enormous and time-consuming. Any error in the delivery schedule will hamper the
payment process from the delivery boy to the e-commerce company and the enormous
process line will complicate the process of rebuilding bank accounts.
