My Learning Episode Overview

This episode illustrates the activity of my learners. This will give me

the chance to acquaint myself with the needs, interest and abilities of
my learners. Being aware of these features will equip me with greater
knowledge and understanding to ensure quality instruction.

My Target (Learning Outcomes)

At the end of this activity, I will be able to:

• Describe the learners in my respective grade level and subjects.

• Use various sources to know my students better.

• Establish consistent standards of learner’s behavior.

• Utilize techniques to suit my learners’ needs.

My Big Ideas (Learning Essentials)

As a student intern, I must fully aware that:

▪ Each individual is unique.
▪ Students vary in learning styles.
▪ Students learn through different modalities.
▪ The learning environment must be safe, secured, friendly, non-
threatening and must treats students with fairness.
My Tasks (Activities)

A. Observe the learners on your first day of internship. What are your observations?

• The students are very unique individuals.

• The students have different focus/end goals and learning habits.
• Most students are participative with the teacher’s activity.
• Selected students are members of the eco-waste management.
• Since they’re high schoolers, they observe proper hygiene and community
health.

B. Create an opportunity where you can gather their thoughts, ideas and feelings about
their school/ subject/ classmates.

About their school

Based from the selected students, their learning environment/school in
general is an active place for learning. Although sometimes, they can
see and witness non-academic issues which may seem controversial
and not helpful for their learning.

About their subject

Based from the selected students, most of them said that they can
adjust to the subject matter and shifting of classes easily. But there are
some instances where they find it extremely difficult to cope up to the
subject matter because of other teacher-related factors that hinders
towards their understanding.

About their classmates

Based from the selected students, most of their classmates are nice,
well-fed, and some are just going/attending there to acquire their
wants in life. Unlike in private schools, students can’t easily buy or get
their wants due to paying of tuition fees. But some students are also
serious about their academic life.

My Analysis

Why do we need to know the various types of learners?

By simply having background about your learners, you are

preparing and equipping yourself the proper approaches and tools
and assessments to be used as their teacher. By knowing the learning
styles and habits of your learners, you are leaning yourself as a
strategist type of teacher who know what to do about his/her learners
professionally, without sacrificing anything on the learner’s behalf.
Remember that a great teacher is the best planner. 😊
My Reflections / My Insights

As a teacher, how will you respond to the needs of your diverse

learners?
• First, I will give a diagnostic exam to classify the poor-performing students, to
the average-performing students, and the high performing students.
• Next, I will make sure to cater to the needs of all kinds of learners by giving
them differentiated activities that is necessary and suited for their level of
cognition.
• I will encourage group activity by grouping them beforehand, so that least
to high performing students can all work together and achieve truthful
learning through discovery learning and interaction among peers.
