A Archeologist museum is a fascinating site where you can find the historical and cultural evolution of a

society, highlighting the uniques characteristics of each place through the discovery. In other words, the
traces that human being has been leaving in the course of the history, therefore these are a great places
to know your origin and those of other cultures.

The San Jacinto archeologist museum had a good commence, in 1984. But because of the terrifying
violence in the region, the cultural leaders had to go into exile and the museum almost dessapeared; but
the community saved all the books, pieces and archeological tools in their own houses, and many years
later this institution finally reopened its gates as a landmark place, which preserves and promotes the
cultural heritage of the Mounts of Mary.

This archeologist museum is located in the principal park of San Jacinto, in the center of Bolivar
department. Once you are in front of this enormous republican house of the year 1903 you realize it has
conserved its natural infrastructure with its wooden balconies and windows, and the ornaments (in this
case a beautiful desing on the top and steel lanterns hanging from the firts floor) and behind you there is
a large open garden that will mesmerize you. When you get inside, you note the reception is spacious
and luminous; decorated whit some colourful small pictures of the native dance (cumbia), and the
golden grammy achieved by San Jacinto's bagpipers in a stand, and the walls, built with bricks stacked
whit a mixture of salt and sand, are covered by a white colour. On the left side starts the walk whit the
San Jacinto room, which contains informative pictures about culture, agricultural wealth, autochthonous
music, a map whit information about the violence lived: the masacres across Bolívar department and
also you can see within a small display cabinet, the most ancient ceramic of America, discovered in San
Jacinto; specifically in nature reserve El cerro de Maco, the higher place of Mounts of Mary. In the
contiguous room there is a time line along the wall, about Caribbean settlement which include the
apparition of Zenu town, ancestros that gave us the bases of our culture: they left us the inheritance of
knitting, the gaita melody , the way we build our houses of palm and bahareque and this room also
contains a showcase of craftwork such as stunning hammocks, knapsack whit astonishing desings, and
the representative "vueltiao'" hat. At the end of this section there are three doors: the left one lead you
to the lush garden, the right one lead you to the great archeological pieces collection about the Malibu
indigenous where you could travel to the past and knowing how was their dayli life, their customs,
beliefs and their influence in us. And finally, the last door, guide you through stairs to the amazing space
called: "The hall of the memory" where you find old photos of the town as well as key interesting
information about how violence affected the progress of the social groups , how violence affected land
possession and agriculture and the life after it phenomenom.
