On August 10, 2019, during the 57th convocation of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay,
Dr. Niraj Satnalika (son of Shri Debi Prasad Satnalika and Smt. Deepa Satnalika from Raniganj, West
Bengal) was conferred upon the degree of Ph.D. by the institute upon the recommendation of the senate.
Satnalika did a Ph.D. in the field of finance from the School of Management, IIT Bombay, and his thesis
topic was Corporate Governance.
Before completing Ph.D., he completed a PGDM in Finance (International Business) from Institute of
Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad - a premier B-school in the country. He was also selected as a
panelist for the Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations and got an opportunity to
represent the nation at the conference held in Taipei, Taiwan in 2012. Dr. Niraj also holds a Bachelors
Degree in Technology in the field of Electronics and Instrumentation from Heritage Institute of
Technology, Kolkata.
Niraj has a deep interest in a social cause, and his interest to serve the people motivated him to start a
non-profit non-government organization, Babulal Nagarmal Satnalika Foundation, in the memory of his
late grandfather. The trust works towards promoting elementary and computer education amongst the
underprivileged and has helped over 100 children till date by providing scholarships. Also, the trust has
set-up over 25 computers in and around Raniganj (two centers are in association with Lions Club of
Raniganj) and has touched the lives of around 500 children from the coal belt.
Currently, Niraj is settled in Pune and is working with a leading media house in the Chairman's office.

With principal object ‘to help economically challenged boys and girls to become self-reliant and self-dependent through skills
training’, it started the centre in 1978 with ‘Embroidery-Tailoring-Knitting’ section with active initiative of Mrs. Ava Bagchi
wife of Ex-Lion R. N. Bagchi (who served as Club President during 1986-87) at their residence at 38B, Raja Dinendra Street, in
Manicktola area in North Calcutta. This was the only centre of its kind in the locality. Shortly it added to it ‘Typing &
Stenography’ section.
Subsequently, the Centre moved to a new spacious accommodation of 500 sq. ft. at Yogipara Main Road and 150 sq. ft at 93/1,
Garpar Road, near Manicktola Telephone Exchange/Raja Dinendra Street, with improved ambience and additional training
facilities of present day’s essential skills development i.e., Computer and Spoken English.
For Computer skills training the centre tied up with eminent, experienced well recognized organization in the field, LCC and
offer basic, advanced and accounting package – Tally. English Speaking course also has different levels viz., basic, Intermediate
and post Intermediate.
This is a multidisciplinary skills training centre ranging from ‘Embroidery-Tailoring-Knitting’ to ‘Computer education’ to
‘Spoken English’ under one roof. Annually the centre trains 200–250 girl students on ‘Embroidery-Tailoring-Knitting’, about
200 boys and girls in Computer learning and about 120 students in ‘Spoken English’ courses.

1 D.G. Advisory Committee Meeting of Zone - I for the Lionistic Year 2019 – 2020, held on
09.08.2019, Friday at 85 Bentick Street, 2nd Floor, Kolkata – 700001. Meeting was presided by
ZC Lion Anand Tiwari. Lion Anand Tiwari informed about the activity and participation of
Zone ,1 during the period
He informed about district directory publication and appreciated Zone Clubs for their
contribution namely; VIP, CALCUTTA and A ONE CITY also informed about 20% grant towards
contribution money as contributed by Clubs. He appreciated the efforts of the Clubs of the
zone for 16th August program by Dr. Kumar Biswas. Where all Clubs come forward and all
together 600 (six hundred) participations were confirmed,
He appreciates all Clubs for 100% Reporting about Members and activity through MyLci And
MyLion during the period. He informed the club leaders to clear their District and
International dues on time and take the advantage of earning points.
He appreciates CALCUTTA and A One City for contribution towards MJF during month of July 2019, total 3 MJF contributions made
from Zone -1. He emphasised for more contribution toward MJF and Campaign 100, by all Clubs of Zone -1.
Zone Chairman explained about LLC and all participates highly liked the same and promised to complete the course within few
days. He informed about DLLI and YLLI He further appealed the Club Leaders to put in their best efforts, create a benchmark, set
an example for others and achieve pinnacles of success
Membership targets by Zone GMT Coordinator: In the absence of Zone GMT Coordinator Lion Vinu V Thakkar, the ZC requested
all the leaders to bring in a at least minimum of 50 new members and open new clubs to achieve the goal of the District Governor.

International Zone -2 held on 27th of September 2019 at Lions DEN. I was not sure
whether I would be able to succeed or not but time is the best teacher n God is the best
help.. As innovations can be exciting the meeting was converted into a leaders forum n to
a Quiz with loads of prizes for the winners.. All leaders were in blazers and the President
Secretary and Treasurer with uniform scarf. Thank you my Zone club members for
making this meeting a grand success with your graceful attendance and active
participation.. The highly interactive evening was an amazing platform to learn and keep

Happy to share with all members of district that Zone VI successfully completed their
1st DG Advisory meeting at Hindustan Club on 20.9.19 at 6pm.
All PST's introduced themselves & spoke about their completed projects in the ongoing
Lionistic year & their upcoming plans along with data of induction of new members by
them respectively.
Lions club of Calcutta Chetna's President, Pratibha Shah, briefed the gathering about
the club's fund raising program Prayas. Also shared was their successful participation in
Heart that Care Project. Food for hunger was done at dhapa for more than 200 children
by the club members. She also announced the club's plans for going with the district in
shifting thalassemia unit from Waterloo Street to lions blood bank and have sponsored
blood for 100 thalassemia patients under District project. Last but not the least, with great excitement it was announced that they
will sponsor one day food for twelve months in the district's forthcoming project *Annapurna ki Rasoi*.
Lions club of Hasting's President Ram Chandraji Badapolia appraised members that their club has a permanent project of
community marriage, which they are holding since many years. Every year more than hundred marriages are done from different
community with their rituals and beliefs. In this lionistic year, it will be held on 2nd February 2020 at Nandkutir. They have also
started the distribution of dry ration to 250 senior citizen who are not able to help themselves physically and financially. They
have also started Haate Bazaare with support from the district last year.
Binod Guptaji, Secretary of Lions club of Howrah Steel City told that they begun their lionistic year with We Serve motto where for
the entire month of Saawan of the Hindu calender they served sharbat and food to devotees along with first aid help. Two new
members have been inducted by them.
Amar Agarwal, President of Lions club of Calcutta Central told that till date they have done 5 food distribution program in
different places like old age home, Sealdah bridge and it's near by, Bhootnath temple, Kali temple in Kolkata.
Lion Alka Jhunjhunwala President of LC Maansarovar shared that they are running a Lions Eye Care Centre at Behala, where
regularly eye screening and eye care is done. They will also be actively participating in Dry ration project, which is distributed to
250 needy family ,who are unable to support themselves physically as well as financially. They frequently organise food for hunger
project and this time they served more than 100 children of lighthouse for the blind school, near Tollygunge. So far they have
inducted 2 members this year.
IZC Sonia Puri appraised members about District projects, activities and training programs etc. She also outlined the 5 areas in
which all clubs need to take up projects which are the District's key service areas. Soniaji engaged members in an interactive
session on District Training programs where members could enhance their Leadership skills. Last but not the least she asked all
clubs to come forward and participate in Haate Bazaare and Dandiya to be held during Durga Puja at The Park. All clubs
immediately gave their sponsorship to support Haate bazaare and promised to book passes for Dandiya.
18 members from the different clubs of zone, along with the GLT, GMT and GST were present.
A joint zonal fund raising project was also discussed and agreed.
New Leo club from zone was also discussed with 10% over all growth from the zone. At least 4 new MJF from zone was promised

1st DG Advisory Committee Meeting on 06-08-2019 at Kalpana Lodge, Fulia, Nadia.
ZC-Lion Dr Utpal Chakraborty welcomed all the Club Leaders of 6 Clubs namely-
Lions Clubs of Krishnagar Sampark, Nabadwip, Santipur, Santipur West, Fulia and
Ranaghat Plassey. Attendence - 26 (Twenty Six) Lions from the Clubs. ZC initiated
discussion after observing Silence for World Peace. He clarified the reporting format
of Global Action Team (GAT) in detail and requested all Presidents to submit their club
report within 10 days. He discussed about LLC Modules and requested Club Leaders
to take necessary steps so that all members can complete the course. He highlighted
the importance of General Meetings for retention of Members. He named this meeting
as Mini Governor Meeting and asked the leaders to raise any issue or problem which requires the attention of District Governor
and assured them to convey the same to DG. GLT discussed about the various training programmes such as RLLI, DLLI & YLLI and
its importance. He focused on e-Clubhouse. GST discussed about the priority services of LCI and also spoke about the assistance of
District services. IZC discussed about the Club Dues and requested all clubs to clear their dues and take the advantage of earning
points. He also discussed about various schemes for New Club, Scholarship, Environment, Sanitory napkin Vending Machine,
Diabetes Detection, Blood Grouping etc. He also discussed importance to reporting through MyLCI and MyLion and requested all
clubs to report in time without fail. He also informed that any activities done by the Clubs should be informed to the District along
with photographs. Presidents discussed their Plans & Activities and also proposed the followings: Thalassemia Test for school
students: 50% assistance from District, Diabetes detection- 50% matching grant from District., Blood grouping: Rs 10/- per head
support from District. Tree Plantation: President of Santipur West suggested to involve school students to plant and save trees
with District support. Club Administrator of Krishnagar Sampark requested to incorporate the post “Club Administrator” in
Officers Manual of LCI. ZC thanked all leaders and specially thanked Fulia Club for organizing the venue and Lion Rudra Nath
Chatterjee, CAO of Krishnagar Sampark for official support to the meeting. Meeting closed in time.

with a Life Time Achivement Award.
It was 21st July 2019 and the venue was ITC Royal Bengal. thousands of hands
joined together with the thunder when the name of Lion Prem Lahoti was
announce by master of ceremonies for Life Time Achievement Award. Entire
district Led by District Governor Lion Pawan Parasrampuria along with visiting
International Director, Past International Directors presented a plaque to Lion
Lahoti for his contribution towards Lionism. It is a privilege for the Dist. 322B1
in honouring Lion Prem Lahoti. A very known person in the field of Lionism for
years together yet there are thousands new members who may not be well averse with the personality of Lion Mrem Lahoti.

PREM LAHOTY PAST INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Prem Lahoty, of Kolkata, India, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of the International Association of Lions
Clubs from 2000 to 2002.
Past Director Lahoty is a businessman and has tea estates and other businesses in Assam,
A Lion since 1972 and a member of the Calcutta Midtown Lions Club since 1976, Past Director Lahoty has held many offices
within the association, including club president, district governor and cabinet secretary. He was the Editor of the Indian
Edition of the Lion magazine for many years. He was the Honorary Chair for the 2017 Area Forum held at Kolkata. He served
as the Chairman of the organising committee when the International Board Meeting was held in Kolkata in 2005.
In recognition of his service to the association, Past Director Lahoty has received numerous awards, the 100% District
Governor award, Fifteen International President's Awards, an Extension Award and the Ambassador of Good Will Award,
the highest honor granted by the association to its members. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lion activities, Past Director Lahoty is a member of several community groups.
Past Director Lahoty and his wife, Saveeta, have three daughters and eight grandchildren.
