The first issue of Lions Mirror was released on 21st July 2019,
the day of District Cabinet Installation . The blessings and well
wishes by our Leaders, DG Team and Colleagues were
encouraging. The support of Zone Chairperson was excellent,
their support to Team Mirror was a pleasure. The
encouragement of Lions will be the guiding force to move

Fellowship as retention tool.
My dear Fellow Lions.
Subh Bijoya and a Happy Deepawali.
“The true measure of our Society can be found in how it treats
its most vulnerable members” We, Lions proudly endorse our
Motto “We serve” which is a manifestation of the above thought
of Mahatma Gandhi.
For the success of our vision “We Serve” we need more and
more hands to serve. Accordingly more new members and new
dedicated clubs are needed to perform. Lions across the world
are facing the challenges of retention of new members and in
maintaining new Clubs.
“This is a power of gathering, it inspires us delightfully to be
more hopeful, more joyful, more thoughtful in a word more
alive”.-Alice Walters.
In our Lions fraternity the word Fellowship refers to the power
of gathering. Fellowship is a feature in our clubs, a powerful tool
to make clubs foundation stronger. More we give thought to
fellowship, more sustained would be Lions new and old clubs.
In new clubs as well as established old clubs it has been felt that
attendance becomes many fold if the good targeted as well as
entertaining programs are organised in fellowship meetings.
It is observed that new club find it very difficult to organise
entertaining fellowship meetings on their own due to lack of
experience. Here comes the need of support by sponsoring club
and its members.
These new Lions and Lions Clubs with fire in their belly to serve
and to return part of their learnings and earnings to the society,
in the absence of effective fellowship and means of service to
society, loose their momentum and eventually leave the
organsiation. Guidance for at least 8-10 initial meetings in a
well thought out organized manner can do wonders. In the
absence of hand-holding and encouragement, the efforts put in
bringing new members become fruitless and this futility is
repeated again and again.
Keeping this in mind and taking the hand holding positively,
new Lions and Clubs will definitely be rooted firmly in lionism.
Results will follow automatically and by the passing of time
clubs will definitely be a rooted firmly in lions' ambience,
having the strong fellowship service activities with a zeal. The
results will follow automatically .
On fine observations and finer analysis we reach to the
conclusion that clubs with good engaging, entertaining
fellowship meetings are able to retain their members for
significantly longer time lending support to what Jesse Ovens
rightly said “Awards become corroded friends gather no dust”.

Good things always remain good only because they are always
inadequate. I have a great pleasure in conveying my best
wishes to all members of Lions District 322B1 through “Lions
Mirror”, Mirror makes a common platform to share and display
our ideas and activities.I appreciate each and every member of
our District 322B1 who shared their joy in serving the strata of
our society who needs most. I am speechless in appreciation of
the commendable efforts put in by the members for the grand
successful beginning of the new Lionistic year! Events are
celebrated every year but the difference is always show cased.
The way the whole team worked tirelessly for District
Installation is really commendable. They have been
instrumental in successfully implementing innumerable
unique service activities.The support of members in coming
forward for “Annapurna Dry Ration” is commendable. Under
the scheme we will reach out to 250 Senior Citizens of the
underprivileged class. The blood transfusions of 3000
Thalassemia patients looked as an impossible target but the
Lions contributd with an open heart and made it a cake walk.
Hats off to you my Lions friends.It is time and again said that
when Lions take up a programme, no power can stop them in
achieving the objects. The same philopshy of Lions was once
again displayed on 16th August 2019. In spite of blinding rains,
water logged streets, we tasted great success in the
Independence Day celebration program “Dr. Kumar Vishwas
Nite”, 2000 members gathered and celebrated the day. I
congratulate each and every Lion for the success. Without your
support District cannot complete a successful year.Looking at
the joy in the eyes of thousands of children on the day of Haate
Bazare made me hypnotized. Such a big event was organised
with so ease, only Lions team work can do it. I am really blessed
and once again lot of thanks to VDGs, ZCs, IZCs, DCs, and all
members for supporting me in every step. The guidance of
PIDs & PDGs is the icing on the cake of a successful story. Their
experience makes everything simple. My gratitude to them.We
need hands to expand our service activities. Every new member
added is the additon of extra strength to the movement. Let us
wholeheartedly take the initiative of adding new hands in
coming months. I am confident that when we Lions take up a
project the target is always easy. With the blessings of Maa and
the light of every Deepak we will make every effort to eradicate
the misery and suffering of our society.

Lions Fights Diabetes
Friends | compliment clubs in our District for
taking service programmes in tune with
Lionistic Ideology . In coming month on 14th
November we should focus our attention on
Diabetes awareness programmes. Diabetes is
quickly becoming a global health emergency,
affecting 425 million people worldwide.
That's why Lions clubs around the world are taking action on
World Diabetes Day. Diabetes is the signature cause of Lions and
Leos around the world. This year, in partnership with the
International Diabetes Federation (IDF) we're on a mission to
make our mark by screening 1 million people for type 2
diabetes. The International Diabetes Federation estimates that
one in two people with diabetes are undiagnosed and that the
number of people with diabetes will reach 629 million by 2045
Members of Lions International, the largest service club
organization in the world, are coming out in force to show their
support. Lions and Leos volunteers are educating themselves
about diabetes, finding new partners in their communities
committed to the fight against diabetes, and carrying out
service projects such as focus groups, diabetes retreats for kids
and glucose screenings to inspire healthy lifestyles in their
communities.
In the words of our International President“Diabetes is a global
epidemic, but it's also
a personal disease that impacts our family, friends and
neighbors.We want to be part of the solution, and we believe we
can when our nearly 1.5 million members unite around this
important cause.”
The support for World Diabetes Day is part of Lions
International's commitment to fighting diabetes and
supporting those living with the disease. At the organization's
100" anniversary convention in Chicago, IL, in July 2017, Lions
announced diabetes as a new global focus for the organization,
and Lions have responded to the call. So | am sure our clubs will
respond to the International President's call and organise more
awareness programmes on Diabetes.

I am reminded of a quotation that I read many years
ago which I would like to share, especially with those
aspiring for leadership positions:
“Let's dream. And learn to compete
Let's compete. And learn to achieve
Let's achieve. And learn to lead
Yes, let's do our country proud”.
If one does not dream, one can achieve nothing. But to
see one's dream come into reality, one is required to go
through a process of learning and preparing oneself for
the responsibility for which one is aspiring through
step by step achievements. At times we have seen some
people are thrown into positions of leadership without
proper grooming or training or preparation to the
detriment of the interest of the organization they
belong to.
I personally believe the past leadership of any
organization should consider this its responsibility to
ensure that only proper and competent persons are
groomed to take over the leadership, of course, through
the democratic process, so that the organization makes
the desired progress through positive and strong
leadership.
In the present era, it is important that a leader has the
knowledge of the modern system of communication
and is conversant with use of technology. Since the
world is aiming to gradually go paperless, it assumes all
the more importance. Effective communication skill to
reach the target group and impart proper motivation is
a quality that any leader must possess.
A good leader has to act as a motivator to the people of
his group and effective communication is the best
medium of motivation.

Communication can be verbal or written and each is
equally important. If one cannot gets ones thoughts
across the best ideas would remain unsaid. Public
speaking is a skill which every aspiring leader needs to
develop. Nothing can have a more direct and instant
impact on the audience than a well crafted and a well
delivered speech. How you say it is as important as what
you say.
The importance of written communication cannot be
denied. It requires specialized skills to pen one's
thoughts in as precise a manner as possible. Time is at a
premium for all in this fast paced world and nobody has
the patience to go through long winding letters. As is
often remarked- less is more! Catching attention and
keeping it has to be specially worked upon.
Another important consideration is the use of language
that it is comprehensible to all. A letter or note may look
good with big words but what use is that if the import of
the message is not understood by the reader.
Writing emails may seem easier but it may lead to more
mis-communication if the subject is not addressed
properly.
So all those friends who aspire for leadership positions
ask your self - Am I a good speaker? Can I get my
thoughts across? Can I connect with people? This
honest introspection is extremely important as
communication is one skill that you can improve with
practice and perseverance.
It is important to dream to lead but it is equally
important that you be equipped to lead!

has completed 50 years of
Empowering Lions Service
and Funded Lions lead
humanitarian Service
Projects of over $1 Billion through more than 13,000
grants. Fund is entirely raised by charitable
donations from Lions and partners. To expand our
capacity to combat the challenges faced by the world
and to build to create greater service impact LCIF –
Our Foundation has launched Campaign 100 LCIF
Empowering Service. The most ambitious Fund
raising effort in LCIF history, Campaign 100 will
spent three years to raise US $300 millions by June
30, 2021. Campaign 100 fund will help LCIF expand
Lions commitment to the communities with a focus
on:-
INCREASE SERVICE IMPACT
Vision –Lead the global charge to eradicate
infectious blindness, reduce avoidable blindness and
visual impairment, and improve quality of life for
those who are blind or visually impaired.
Youth – Serve youth through improved access to
quality education, vital health services, inclusive
social and recreational opportunities, and positive
youth development.
Disaster Relief – Deeply engage in disaster relief
efforts and in preparing for, and responding to,
natural disasters whenever and wherever they

strike. Humanitarian Causes – Sponsor and deliver
programs that address the distinct needs of at-risk
and vulnerable populations such as the elderly, the
disabled, females, orphans and others
disproportionately impacted by social and economic
factors.
Fight Diabetes LCIF will reduce the prevalence of
diabetes and improve quality of life for those
diagnosed. Together, we'll respond to this global
epidemic, helping prevent diabetes through multi-
faceted, comprehensive health initiatives targeted to
the communities where we live and serve.
Expand Our Global Causes LCIF will identify areas
of greatest need and opportunity; conduct pilot
projects to develop expertise; and build sustainable,
long­term programs related to:
Hunger – Work toward a world in which no one goes
hungry, expanding resources and infrastructure
needed to address food shortages worldwide.
Childhood Cancer – Strengthen medical and social
services, increasing life expectancy of children living
with cancer, and enhancing quality of life for them
and their families.
Environment – Protect the environmental health of
our global communities, generating long-term,
positive ecological impact.
WAYS TO RAISE FUND: Reaching Campaign 100's
capital goal of US$300 million by June 30, 2021, will
require participation from all Lions and clubs
worldwide. Exciting individual and club recognition
programs are in place to reward those who heed the
call. Donate through MJF program or under Lions
Share program.
Model Clubs will lead the way as they raise funds
through strategies such as:
 Asking individual members to make a gift or
pledge.
 Dedicating a fundraising event to Campaign 100.
 Making a gift to LCIF from the club treasury.
 Asking members of the community to make a gift.
Ensure Campaign 100 fund raising efforts raise a
per-member average (PMA) of at least US$500.
Tailoring giving to suit each Lion's financial ability,
individual pledges may be fulfilled over three to five
years, based on pledge amount.
MODEL CLUB RECOGNITION : Model Clubs are
critical to building campaign momentum and
rewarded for doing so. Commit to being a Model
Club and meet – or even multiply – the PMA goal of
at least US$750 during Campaign 100's three-year
duration. Your club will receive special recognition
upon achieving each of three milestones:
 Submission of Model Club Commitment form
 Achievement of declared PMA goal through
cash donations and/or documented pledges
submitted to LCIF
 Fulfilment of commitments
CALL TO ACTION : Over the past 100 years, we
have proven that Lions united in service can
transform millions of lives. As Lions, we serve

There cannot be any change if we
simply think of change. But change
is indispensible as one cannot live a
monotonous life. Everything in life is
also changing and therefore, we cannot remain blind
to change around us.
However, before trying to change others, one should
try to change himself. Those who wait for things to
happen miss out a great deal because these happen
hardly. The best option is to decide what you want
and pursue it. If we fail to take the first step, it
indicates our fear of failure and confidence. There may
be resistance from others, but life rewards only risk
takers. " Life is either a daring adventure or nothing
at all " asserts Hellen Keller. "Fortune sides with him
who dares" wrote a Roman poet 2000 years ago. A
Ship is safe in harbour , but that is not the purpose for
which it is built.
Give change a trial and you will succeed. No doubt it
will be challenging too. But challenges should be
accepted to make life interesting. The world needs
Dreamers and Doers for changes. Dreamers think big
and see possibilities where others see problems. " Do
not make castles in the air" is no more a wishful
thinking. If you never build Castles in the air, they will
never be built at all. The Doers can only bring
changes. They only dare to bring new ideas to life. It
is easy to get started if you really believe in what you
do. Because there, you have the power to convert
dreams in to reality.
Let us reshape our clubs with passion and purpose to
serve Communities with zeal and fervour. You are
meant for greater things as life welcomes achievers.

 Tips fo r effective
growth
and
retention of members
Lion Subir Sen
Droppage of membership is a recurrent problem in Lions
Clubs. Different clubs in our district has varied
membership strength ranging from 20 to above 300.
Based on membership strength we may categorize clubs
with 20-50 membership strength as small clubs, having
strength between 51 and 150 as medium and having
strength of more than 151 as large clubs. Droppage in any
category of clubs is harmful but it affects the most in a
small sized clubs.
It is an accepted fact that the aggregate number of drops
worldwide exceeds number of new entrants in most years.
For generation of new membership, many incentive
schemes had been introduced from time to time and many
are in vogue in the form of recognition through certificates
and special pins to sponsoring member, club officials and
also to the new entrants besides offering financial
concession towards annual dues for family members, Leo
turned Lion members, removal of entrance fee etc., to
attract new enrollments and Clubs even being enthused to
adopt an 'annual growth of 10% in membership' as goal -
but In effect, through these incentives and indirect
compulsions, the Organization end up with new members
by default and not by choice and new members, in most
cases, leave in following or in next couple of years.
To deflect from such a situation, we need to change focus
and follow the 'tried and tested' new member admission
(recruitment) process and retention method to achieve
positive and sustainable growth in membership. In a word,
we need to go 'back to the basics'.
Interestingly, we have a unique system of membership
recruitment – 'membership by invitation'. An existing
member (Sponsoring Lion) to invite an individuals of legal
age of either sex recognizing the person's intent to get
engaged with organization's concept and motto – it is not
through application. The role and responsibility of the
'Sponsoring Lion', who is spotting a person as a prospect
begins by inviting the prospect at Lions Clubs meetings and

introduce to Club officials and other senior members of the
club and thereafter the screening (membership) committee
of the recruiting Club should interview carefully to
understand the prospect's inner urge and inclination to get
engaged with the concept and motto of the Lions
movement. At this stage, it is necessary to define the
engagement basis, in respect of activity participation and
financial obligations, for new member's clarity and consent
prior to joining.
After proper screening and obtaining the prospect's
consent, the recommendation of the Membership
Committee to be presented at the Board meeting for its
approval and following Board's approval the person should
be formally invited to be a member of the Club. Any shortcut
method is likely to bring in involuntary members prone to
discontinue shortly due to lack of interest and/or lack of
satisfaction of the person's intent. We need the person
joining the Club by choice, who is likely to turn out as 'Good
Lions' and not by default.
Tips 1:We should, therefore, truly follow the
recruitment process of invitation and approval of
membership only to pre-introduced individuals who
demonstrate keenness and should not be in a
hurry/race for mere numerical growth or for instant
recognition.
After formal inclusion, the new member, as soon as
possible, should be properly indoctrinated about the
objects, code of ethics, structure of the movement – Club,
District and International level as well as about the major
activities being carried out by the club and about the Club's
Constitution and Bye-Laws.
New member, joining the Lions Club by choice, is likely to
carry personal hopes and aspirations for making
meaningful contribution in the Club's functioning and
activities for the benefit of the needy and betterment of the
community and the person, therefore, should immediately

name in a committee, the new member should be able to get
actively involved.
Recognize new member's presence in meetings during
initial year and involve new members at regular meetings
proceedings to make them feel as important part of the
club. Encourage new member to opine on matters of
importance as a step towards empowerment and for
igniting the person's leadership potential.
A well-informed, involved and empowered member
continue to hold interest and get satisfaction that acts as
perfect glue to get stuck.
Tips 2: New member should, therefore, be properly
indoctrinated at the earliest possible time after formal
inclusion, taken in as an active member in a committee
of choice and empowered to exhibit leadership
potential.
All said and done, a new member needs to be 'mentored'
well at least during initial couple of years. Mentoring is a
specialized relationship in which an experienced person
(the Mentor) assists another in developing specific skills
and knowledge that will enhance the other person's
expertise and personal interest in the organization.

A mentor, focusing on total development, teaches on
different issues, coaches in skills development, facilitates
growth by sharing resources and knowledge and
challenges the person being mentored by creating safe
learning environment for taking risk and making him/her
to move beyond comfortable zone. Mentoring is a relational
act and it is best executed by a mutually consented person
between the 'Mentor' and the person being mentored. They
need to be compatible to each other.
While informal mentoring can be done by the 'Sponsoring
Lion', it is wise and proper to have a formal structured
program with established goals and support for pre-
scheduled training and other sessions. The outcome should
be measured to notify progress. A successful mentoring
program not only helps the Organization in retention of
membership but creates well informed, enthusiast and
involved member as an asset to the organization.
Tips 3: Each new member should, therefore, get the
opportunity of being mentored through a structured
program with established goals to enhance the new
member's expertise and personal interest in the
organization.
Indeed, "Michhami Dukkadam" is the formalization of
individual forgiveness to a community setting. It has far greater
effects of increasing human compassion than individual
forgiveness. It encompasses a whole community, a whole
society. Forgiveness is indeed the most important human value.
It allows the human race to mend their past mistakes. It teaches
humanity a lesson in forgiveness. There is nothing to be
ashamed of in asking for forgiveness. And when asked for
forgiveness from someone always give it. Forgiveness is a

How to Be a Successful Leader……
Successful transformation is one of the biggest challenges in
a social organization like Lions. In this fast-transforming
electronic & digital world where strategic imperative are
changing rapidly that is very much clear :
Without doing things differently, no organisation is likely to
succeed, or last.
We are aware, that despite the huge resources put into
creation of change management processes we taste
unsatisfactory results. Time after time change initiatives fail
more often than they succeed, but efforts for transformation
is a continuous process and we at Lions Organisation put our
skills together in combating the challenges of time. In Lions
organization, we know that effective leadership is essential
for a successful future. That is why we wanted to train,
motivate and groom leadership at every level in our
Organisation.
For successful grooming and building leadership at every
level we are to understand and conceive a targeted approach
towards grooming “change-capable leadership”. Analysis of
the leadership competencies of future leaders are necessary
for a change...
Great Leaders Focus on People and Process.
The 3 C’s of Successful Leadership.
It is well established that 3 skills provide the necessary
connection between the process of creating a change and the
people part of the change. Unity of these three makes a
Change Capable Leader.
1. Communicate :- Successful leaders communicate the
“what” and the “why.” Leaders who explained the purpose of
the change and connected it to the organization’s values or
explained the benefits created stronger support and create
urgency for the change.
2. Collaborate. Bringing people together to plan and execute
changes are critical. Successful leaders worked across the
boundaries, encouraged team to break out of their igloos,
and refused to tolerate unhealthy competition. They also
include members of the organisation in decision making,
strengthening their commitment to change. Unsuccessful
leaders fail to engage the team and members often in the
change process.

3. Commitment. Successful leaders made sure their own
beliefs and behaviors supported the changes too. Change is
always difficult, but leaders who negotiated it successfully
were fully resilient, persistent and willing to step outside
their comfort zone. They also devoted more of their own
time to the efforts and focused on the larger picture.
Leading the Process
Strategic change doesn’t happen on its own. Effective leaders
guide the process from start to finish. Here are the 3 key
competencies that are part of leading the process:
• Initiate. Effective leaders begin by making the case for the
change they seek. They include evaluating the objects,
understanding the purpose of the change, developing a clear
vision, a desired outcome and identifying a common goal.
• Strategize. Successful leaders develop a strategy and a clear
action plan, including priorities, time lines, tasks, structures,
behaviors, and resources. They identify what would change,
but also explain what would stay the same.
• Execute. Translating strategy into execution is one of the
most important things leaders can do. Successful leaders
focused on getting key people into key positions (or
removing them, in some cases). They also break big projects
down into small to wins early victories and create and build
momentum. They develop metrics and monitoring systems
to measure progress.
Leading People
While formal change processes might be well understood,
but many leaders neglect the all important human side of
change. The most effective leaders devote considerable
effort to engage everyone involved in the change effort. They
exhibit these 3 crucial qualities of leading people:
• Support. :- Successful change projects are executed and led
by leaders who remove barriers towards success. These
include personal barriers such as wounded egos and a sense
of loss. They make positive investment of the time and
resources necessary to carry out a change plan is pre
requisite for a success. Leaders who failed focused
exclusively on results. They didn’t get the support from team
which were needed for the change.
• Sway :- Effective leaders identifies key stakeholders —
including core team members, and communicated their
vision of successful change to them. Unsuccessful leaders are
more likely to avoid stakeholders rather make an effort to
influence them.
• Learn :- Finally, successful leaders never assumed they
had all the answers. They asked lots of questions and
gathered formal and informal feedback. The input and
feedback allowed them to make continual adjustments
during the change. In the case of unsuccessful changes,
leaders fail to ask as many questions or gather accurate
information, which left them without the knowledge they
needed to make appropriate adjustments along the way.
These theories and practices are small tips for grooming
Leadership. In our Lions movement we contineously plan
changes in our projects and activities.
The changes are needed according to the need of hour and
the country where we belong. Same theory of service, help
and assistance is not equitable for a developed, developing
and under developed country. We belong to an organization
which is spread in all the continents. Let all of us unite our
brains & minds in our approach towards the new fields of
services and in new objectives. This organisation is always
in search of a Leader who can Change.............

A tiny spark can create a change....

One day my Friend Rajput ji & Dinesh Agarwal told me that an NGO ANN BANDHU is serving
food to the Needy people at Rs 6/- per plate Rice Dal and Subjee at Sishu Mangal Hospital.I met
with the Trustees of Ann Bandhu Sri J.P Agarwal & Sri Gopi Agarwal agreed to provide the food
on the condition it can't be distributed FREE We have to Charge Rs 6/- per plate and they will
provide food @ 6/- per plate. I visualised the service and decided to do this activity at P. G
Hospital. Food Hawkers Resisted. I talked to local councillor and he suggested to do at
Sambhunath Hospital and assured assistance. Our thanks to the councillor with whose support
the project began. The kitchen of Ann Bandhu modernised as well as mechanised. They prepare
and distribute food for nearly 2000. The food is delivered in hot boxes to keep it hot at the time
of service.
The project is running successfully with the support of Lions North who are taking care of the
project. Till now more than one lakh peoples like peons, Security guards, Sweeper, Mutia
Majdoor etc are served. Another centre N.S Road began and now we are serving more than 500
Needy people Per day at Lunch time 12.30 to 1.30 p.m.

On August 10, 2019, during the 57th convocation of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay,
Dr. Niraj Satnalika (son of Shri Debi Prasad Satnalika and Smt. Deepa Satnalika from Raniganj, West
Bengal) was conferred upon the degree of Ph.D. by the institute upon the recommendation of the senate.
Satnalika did a Ph.D. in the field of finance from the School of Management, IIT Bombay, and his thesis
topic was Corporate Governance.
Before completing Ph.D., he completed a PGDM in Finance (International Business) from Institute of
Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad - a premier B-school in the country. He was also selected as a
panelist for the Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations and got an opportunity to
represent the nation at the conference held in Taipei, Taiwan in 2012. Dr. Niraj also holds a Bachelors
Degree in Technology in the field of Electronics and Instrumentation from Heritage Institute of
Technology, Kolkata.
Niraj has a deep interest in a social cause, and his interest to serve the people motivated him to start a
non-profit non-government organization, Babulal Nagarmal Satnalika Foundation, in the memory of his
late grandfather. The trust works towards promoting elementary and computer education amongst the
underprivileged and has helped over 100 children till date by providing scholarships. Also, the trust has
set-up over 25 computers in and around Raniganj (two centers are in association with Lions Club of
Raniganj) and has touched the lives of around 500 children from the coal belt.
Currently, Niraj is settled in Pune and is working with a leading media house in the Chairman's office.

Spinach Paneer Dumplings in Tomato Basil

Gravy : Ingredients :
Paneer- 250 gms, Spinach - one small bundle, Tomatoes- 4 big size, Basil
leaves- Few leaves in twig, Ginger- A piece into paste Ajawain and Carom
seeds - A Pinch, Cornflour- 2 Table spoons, Green chillies- 2 pieces paste,
Cream- 2Tbsp, Salt -Acc to taste. Oil - two tsp.
Method: Boil tomatoes cool and shred the peel. Grind in mixer and keep
aside. Slit chillies deseed them and keep aside. Wash and pat dry basil leaves
and keep aside..make ginger paste. Now mash paneer. Cut spinach very
thinly and mash with paneer, add salt and take spoons of corn flour and
chilly paste, add to mash and start making small tikki like dumplings. Keep
putting in steam utensil or flat channi or sieve. Now put this dumpling filled
sieve on top of A water filled utensil and cover it and steam for ten minutes.
After ten minutes cool it by removing lid and now start making gravy. Take
some olive oil or refined oil in non stick pan. Add ajawain or carom seeds
and let them split..Add ginger paste and fry till golden add grinded tomatoes
in fried ginger paste and add little water .Within a minute add basil leaves
with salt. Let it boil and bring to a thick consistency. Add the slit chillies.
Now add the cooled down paneer and spinach dumplings into the boiling
gravy. boil for two mintues. Put it in the seeing bowl adding cream in style
on top with two leaves of basil as garnish and serve with rice or paranthas.

With principal object ‘to help economically challenged boys and girls to become self-reliant and self-dependent through skills
training’, it started the centre in 1978 with ‘Embroidery-Tailoring-Knitting’ section with active initiative of Mrs. Ava Bagchi
wife of Ex-Lion R. N. Bagchi (who served as Club President during 1986-87) at their residence at 38B, Raja Dinendra Street, in
Manicktola area in North Calcutta. This was the only centre of its kind in the locality. Shortly it added to it ‘Typing &
Stenography’ section.
Subsequently, the Centre moved to a new spacious accommodation of 500 sq. ft. at Yogipara Main Road and 150 sq. ft at 93/1,
Garpar Road, near Manicktola Telephone Exchange/Raja Dinendra Street, with improved ambience and additional training
facilities of present day’s essential skills development i.e., Computer and Spoken English.
For Computer skills training the centre tied up with eminent, experienced well recognized organization in the field, LCC and
offer basic, advanced and accounting package – Tally. English Speaking course also has different levels viz., basic, Intermediate
and post Intermediate.
This is a multidisciplinary skills training centre ranging from ‘Embroidery-Tailoring-Knitting’ to ‘Computer education’ to
‘Spoken English’ under one roof. Annually the centre trains 200–250 girl students on ‘Embroidery-Tailoring-Knitting’, about
200 boys and girls in Computer learning and about 120 students in ‘Spoken English’ courses.
Tuition : In the year 2018 'Tution Classes' were also started to benefit students of all ages. Tutions are given to 20-25 students
for their higher studies and to achieve success in the examination.
Students Motivation : Cultural Programme are organised for the students from time to time and certificates presented to the
students on their excellent performance.

2019.Around 100 children were present amongst whom the top 10 students were

SEVA
Annapurna Bhojan Seva a project of
Lions Club of North Calcutta to support
the less fortunate strata of our society
by providing good quality food at a very
subsidize rates. The project is running at
two places. We provide food at Sambhu
Nath Pandit hospital for the benefit of
patient party and poor visitors to the
hospital. At Netaji Subhash Road Center
we are catering mainly to motiya,
mazddoor and working class. In both
the project we serve 500 persons daily
except Sunday. In this Lionistic year
through 90 camps we have served more
than 49000 persons. We are providing
food at Rs. 6.00 per plate. The subsidy of
Rs. 6/- per person is assisted by our
members who sponsor the day.
Lions North request Lions Members
interested should come forward and
may pls join the project at least once and
feel satisfied by serving the needy

Happy to share with all members of district that Zone VI successfully completed their
1st DG Advisory meeting at Hindustan Club on 20.9.19 at 6pm.
All PST's introduced themselves & spoke about their completed projects in the ongoing
Lionistic year & their upcoming plans along with data of induction of new members by
them respectively.
Lions club of Calcutta Chetna's President, Pratibha Shah, briefed the gathering about
the club's fund raising program Prayas. Also shared was their successful participation in
Heart that Care Project. Food for hunger was done at dhapa for more than 200 children
by the club members. She also announced the club's plans for going with the district in
shifting thalassemia unit from Waterloo Street to lions blood bank and have sponsored
blood for 100 thalassemia patients under District project. Last but not the least, with great excitement it was announced that they
will sponsor one day food for twelve months in the district's forthcoming project *Annapurna ki Rasoi*.
Lions club of Hasting's President Ram Chandraji Badapolia appraised members that their club has a permanent project of
community marriage, which they are holding since many years. Every year more than hundred marriages are done from different
community with their rituals and beliefs. In this lionistic year, it will be held on 2nd February 2020 at Nandkutir. They have also
started the distribution of dry ration to 250 senior citizen who are not able to help themselves physically and financially. They
have also started Haate Bazaare with support from the district last year.
Binod Guptaji, Secretary of Lions club of Howrah Steel City told that they begun their lionistic year with We Serve motto where for
the entire month of Saawan of the Hindu calender they served sharbat and food to devotees along with first aid help. Two new
members have been inducted by them.
Amar Agarwal, President of Lions club of Calcutta Central told that till date they have done 5 food distribution program in
different places like old age home, Sealdah bridge and it's near by, Bhootnath temple, Kali temple in Kolkata.
Lion Alka Jhunjhunwala President of LC Maansarovar shared that they are running a Lions Eye Care Centre at Behala, where
regularly eye screening and eye care is done. They will also be actively participating in Dry ration project, which is distributed to
250 needy family ,who are unable to support themselves physically as well as financially. They frequently organise food for hunger
project and this time they served more than 100 children of lighthouse for the blind school, near Tollygunge. So far they have
inducted 2 members this year.
IZC Sonia Puri appraised members about District projects, activities and training programs etc. She also outlined the 5 areas in
which all clubs need to take up projects which are the District's key service areas. Soniaji engaged members in an interactive
session on District Training programs where members could enhance their Leadership skills. Last but not the least she asked all
clubs to come forward and participate in Haate Bazaare and Dandiya to be held during Durga Puja at The Park. All clubs
immediately gave their sponsorship to support Haate bazaare and promised to book passes for Dandiya.
18 members from the different clubs of zone, along with the GLT, GMT and GST were present.
A joint zonal fund raising project was also discussed and agreed.
New Leo club from zone was also discussed with 10% over all growth from the zone. At least 4 new MJF from zone was promised
too. Overall the meeting was encouraging

ZONE VIII First DG advisory meeting held on 24th sept 19 from 6pm at Diya Bati.

Bagra were present. Minutes of preparatory DG Advisory Committee meeting
was read and approved. In his welcome address ZC mentioned that Lions Club of
Park Avenue ,Academia and Angels home could not come for heavy rains and he
was appreciative of all who could make it. He mentioned that all clubs in Zone VIII
were working very well though some clubs were not reporting in Zone VIII group
.They were requested to report there as well and inform Editor of District
magazine MIRROR about the activities of each club for coverage. He specially highlighted that SERVIKA, new club, only two
months old but has been working very well and participating in all activities of District. GMT emphasied on membership drive and
incentives of District Scheme. Lions HOWRAH, ROSHNI AND SERVIKA agreed for minimum 5 members net growth . IZC
highlighted about Schemes of District for various activities and also encouraged members to attend Leadership programs of
District. Each Club talked about the service and fellowship activities in July to Sept. ZC opined that all seem to be on an overdrive

First D.G. advisory committee of the year (2019-20) meeting was presided by the Zonal
Chairperson Lion Rabindra Nath Paul on 09/08/2019 at Lions club of Krishnagar.
Lion Rabindra Nath Paul welcomed the members.
GMT - Z Lion Rajesh Agarwalla announced that the Presidents of the clubs adding
three or more new Members will be awarded. He further announced that PSTs of those
clubs adding five or more members or a new club will be awarded. He requested to all
Leaders of the Clubs to fulfil the membership target according to the earlier
commitment.
Detail discussion regarding the service activities (Diabetes detection, annapurna ki rasoi, vision problem, pediatric cancer, clean
environment were done. GST-Z Lion Asim Kumar Dutta advised the members to take part actively by district support.
In absence of GLT-Z Lion Manab Sain, Zone Chairperson Lion Rabindra Nath Paul advised the members to attend the YLLI training
Programme which will be Performed at Krishnagar & Iskcon on Sept, Nov & Dec respectively

1st DG Advisory Committee Meeting on 06-08-2019 at Kalpana Lodge, Fulia, Nadia.
ZC-Lion Dr Utpal Chakraborty welcomed all the Club Leaders of 6 Clubs namely-
Lions Clubs of Krishnagar Sampark, Nabadwip, Santipur, Santipur West, Fulia and
Ranaghat Plassey. Attendence - 26 (Twenty Six) Lions from the Clubs. ZC initiated
discussion after observing Silence for World Peace. He clarified the reporting format
of Global Action Team (GAT) in detail and requested all Presidents to submit their club
report within 10 days. He discussed about LLC Modules and requested Club Leaders
to take necessary steps so that all members can complete the course. He highlighted
the importance of General Meetings for retention of Members. He named this meeting
as Mini Governor Meeting and asked the leaders to raise any issue or problem which requires the attention of District Governor
and assured them to convey the same to DG. GLT discussed about the various training programmes such as RLLI, DLLI & YLLI and
its importance. He focused on e-Clubhouse. GST discussed about the priority services of LCI and also spoke about the assistance of
District services. IZC discussed about the Club Dues and requested all clubs to clear their dues and take the advantage of earning
points. He also discussed about various schemes for New Club, Scholarship, Environment, Sanitory napkin Vending Machine,
Diabetes Detection, Blood Grouping etc. He also discussed importance to reporting through MyLCI and MyLion and requested all
clubs to report in time without fail. He also informed that any activities done by the Clubs should be informed to the District along
with photographs. Presidents discussed their Plans & Activities and also proposed the followings: Thalassemia Test for school
students: 50% assistance from District, Diabetes detection- 50% matching grant from District., Blood grouping: Rs 10/- per head
support from District. Tree Plantation: President of Santipur West suggested to involve school students to plant and save trees
with District support. Club Administrator of Krishnagar Sampark requested to incorporate the post “Club Administrator” in
Officers Manual of LCI. ZC thanked all leaders and specially thanked Fulia Club for organizing the venue and Lion Rudra Nath
Chatterjee, CAO of Krishnagar Sampark for official support to the meeting. Meeting closed in time.

Leo Club of Kolkata Sanchetna, the youth wing of Lions Club of
Calcutta Sanchetna, district 332B1 feels privileged to be a part
of the Leo family.The underpriviledgekid here live in the
outskirts of the city in a slum in Newtown. The NGO helped
them with education, clothes and other essentials but the basic
necessities of life - health and hygiene maintenance leo club of
kolkata Sanchetna re not focussed upon.Our main aim was to
try and improve the health and hygiene of the girls undergoing
the menstruation cycle and to make them used to the habit of
sanitary napkins instead of cloths and cottons. leo club of
kolkata Sanchetna wanted to inbuild in them a sense of
empoleo club of kolkata Sanchetna rment and that there is
nothing wrong in this. It is nothing to be shy about.

Leo club of Kolkata Disha

Leo club of Kolkata Disha this year took an initiative to take a
step towards betterment of the society, There first event pehel
was conducted in a slum area in howrah in which they
distributed 50 mosquito nets to underprivileged people
affected by dengue and malaria due to water logging in the
area.Followed by a session with children over a cup of hot
chocolate where they visited a poorly managed primary school
to have a session with them and engage them into certain fun
activities, they prepared hot chocolate for the kids and
distributed stationery to them.

Leo club of Midtown Glory

Leo Midtown Glory marked it's presence with its first service
activity at the Asian Sahyogi Sanstha India.It had been a
memorable ride as it was the first time we met these childern
and almost longed for the next meeting. We distributed food
packets and had organised certain games for them as well.The
first activity was a success and the club recieved The Best Debut
Activity Award at Leo Utsav.Leo Midtown Glory decided to meet
these children again and organise yet another service activity.
The club's second activity was organised at Asian Sahyogi
Sanstha India as we all had made a strong bond with all these
childern and decided to take it forward.

The Leo Club of Kolkata Royals distributed 560+ bio degradable
sanitary napkins to underprivileged girl students of Tollygunge
Adarsha Hindi High School, on the 24th of August,2019. Along
with the distribution we conducted a seminar on safe &
hygienic menstruation care,Our male members actively
participated in the distribution of the napkins.

Leo Club of Kolkata Greater held a health and eye check-up
camp for the children ageing from 6-16 at The Calcutta Social
Project School, Hazra. The club has co- sponsored the Play- on, a
Leo District 322b1event collectively with Leo Club of Calcutta
New Alipore, Leo Club of Calcutta Park Avenue, Leo Club of
Kolkata Paradise and Leo Club of Kolkata Nav Vikas. The club
has also volunteered for the Suicide Awareness debate
organized by the Lions Club of Calcutta Greater.

Leo Club Of Kolkata Host

Leo Club Of Kolkata Host conducted it first event on 15.06.19 in
which they served orange squash to all the workers, labourers
to help t hem b ea t t he scorchin g hea t . The numb er of
beneficiaries were 2500. Leo Club Of Kolkata Host had
conducted the event "Pannah" on 25.08.19 in which they had
distributed umbrellas to all the needy people to help them
during the torrenial rainy season. The number of beneficiaries
were 100.Leo Club of Kolkata Host and Leo Club of Calcutta
organised the event "Tete-a- Tete" on 23.08.19 where they had
a interactive session with Mr Santosh Singh where the main
theme was mental health and emotional well being. It was a
great learning session for all of us.Leo Club Of Kolkata Host
conducted the event on 29.09.19 ,where they distributed
gloves, masks and flip flops to the sweepers. Their main aim was
to help these sweepers who work so hard for the cleaniness of
our society. The number of beneficiaries were 50.

Leo Club Of Kolkata Paradise

An event was conducted on the 30th Of September
They donated new clothes to sixty children, gave chocolates and
juices to them. The event was at Federation Of Advancement Of
Disabled And Underprivileged Children (FADUC) at 19/1
Manoharpukur Main Road.
Clothes and accessories for all ages, home utilities for ladies and
toys for kids were sold at a nominal cost to 200 people
(counted) at the Vidyanjali International School near Northern
Park.They also initiated an activity to serve lunch at a
construction sight. Lunch was served to 50 construction
workers.They served home made food to 25 girls of SOS
Children's Village Orphanage on the 20th September.The
Children were also served with fruits, sweets and coldrinks.

Leo Club of Calcutta Downtown

Events: Leoistic year of 2019-20 started on 1st july 2019. We
visited specially abled kids home at Prabhartak Sangha and
distributed them food and talked to them. "Comfortable shoes
and the freedom are the freedom to leave are the two most
important things in life" -Shel Silverstein; Next event, we
distributed slipers to the daily wage workers. We visited
specially abled kids home and distributed food under "one day,
one meal" and also donated accucheck diabeties machine with
extra strips along with extra strips along with adult diapers.
Policemen are the public servants those who have stand in
harsh summertime heat and chiling winter nights but still
people look at them with hate so we decided to do something for
them, we distributed 80 goodie bags with things like water,
biscuits, face towel, ORS, etc in them. These were distributed in
Burra Bazar, Girish park, Maniktalla Bagmari outpost and
Jorabagan outpost areas. Tarkeshwar did our flagship event for
the 4th consecutive year. They did SEWA i.e. served food, did
medication for holy devotees of shiv for whole night, during the
month of savan. Independence day was celebrated under
AASHAYE with underprivileged children at Lions Safari Park.
We distributed sweets, bags, and stationary to them. On the 1st
of september tree plantation drive took place to contribute
towards nature. On 14th of september we did DAYADAAN to an
orphanage of autistic and donated maggie, surf, dettol, etc. For
APNABAZAAR event leo club presented 'Bhangar Wala' as a
helping hand to leo club of Calcutta. We collected bottles,, cans
and other recyclable products and sell them in 'Bhangar' and
the amount was donated to APNABAZAAR. MAHALAYA
happened pend on 28th september to feed those who feed us.
On this auspicious day we fed GAU MATA who is not only a
sacred animal but called as MAA. This rehabilitation event for
cow was completely successfully and efficiently.

Leo Club of Kolkata A-One City

Leo Club of Kolkata A-One City started its leoistic year 2019-20
with TARANG, a fun-fiesta on 7th July 2019 for 50 orphans
where the club members held game stalls and the children were
free to enjoy themselves. They were awarded gifts for their
wins. They were also provided with refreshments and goodie
bags. The event ended with a lot of happy faces and smiles.

with a Life Time Achivement Award.
It was 21st July 2019 and the venue was ITC Royal Bengal. thousands of hands
joined together with the thunder when the name of Lion Prem Lahoti was
announce by master of ceremonies for Life Time Achievement Award. Entire
district Led by District Governor Lion Pawan Parasrampuria along with visiting
International Director, Past International Directors presented a plaque to Lion
Lahoti for his contribution towards Lionism. It is a privilege for the Dist. 322B1
in honouring Lion Prem Lahoti. A very known person in the field of Lionism for
years together yet there are thousands new members who may not be well averse with the personality of Lion Mrem Lahoti.
For them we take pride in introducing the legend of Lionism
PREM LAHOTY PAST INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Prem Lahoty, of Kolkata, India, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of the International Association of Lions
Clubs from 2000 to 2002.
Past Director Lahoty is a businessman and has tea estates and other businesses in Assam,
A Lion since 1972 and a member of the Calcutta Midtown Lions Club since 1976, Past Director Lahoty has held many offices
within the association, including club president, district governor and cabinet secretary. He was the Editor of the Indian
Edition of the Lion magazine for many years. He was the Honorary Chair for the 2017 Area Forum held at Kolkata. He served
as the Chairman of the organising committee when the International Board Meeting was held in Kolkata in 2005.
In recognition of his service to the association, Past Director Lahoty has received numerous awards, the 100% District
Governor award, Fifteen International President's Awards, an Extension Award and the Ambassador of Good Will Award,
the highest honor granted by the association to its members. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lion activities, Past Director Lahoty is a member of several community groups.
Past Director Lahoty and his wife, Saveeta, have three daughters and eight grandchildren.

by Lions District 322 B1. Here we sponsor bypass, open heart
Spine and brain surgery ( at Mediça , Park Clinic and Desun) for the
poorest of the poor, or for those needy people who cannot afford a life
saving operation of their loved ones. We are reaching out to people who
would have died had we not arranged for timely medical intervention.

those patients whose life can be
saved through you. Requesting you to
be a part of this noble project . To
know more please feel free to call the chairperson. Hearts that care is a group
formed by those Lions who are ready to contribute Rs. 25000/- yearly to help the
poorest of the poor or those needy people who cannot afford a life saving operation
of their loved ones. Here we sponsor the open heart surgery which does not include
stent, bypassSpine and brain and no emergency cases.
