My Heroes

Do you qualify as a hero? A hero to me is a person who is admired or idealized for

courage, outstanding achievements, noble qualities. Heroes can be anyone that saves lives, or

they can be anyone that does something they have a fear of but are brave enough to still do

something. Bravery is the biggest trait of a hero. Martin Luther King Jr., Malala Yousafzai, and

Anne Frank have demonstrated heroism through their actions. The people whom a person holds

up as heroes reflect the values of that person.

My first paragraph will be about how Martin Luther King Jr. inspired loads of people and

helped blacks get more appreciated. The first hero I chose was Martin Luther King Jr. He was

the leader in the Afro-American civil rights movement. He organized nonviolent protests for

freedom, peace and equality between blacks and whites based on his Christian beliefs. He gave

his life for justice and fairness. What makes him a hero is he is brave, honest, kind and a fair

minded person. Martin was an activist who had a great deal of influence on American society in

the 1950s and 1960s. This is how Martin Luther King Jr. contributed to society and how he is

considered to be a hero.

Next I chose Malala as one of my heroes because she never gave up even when people

tried to silence her. Malala Yousafzai fought for children to be able to attend school, although

other people did not like that, and tried to silence her. For that she is well known almost

everywhere. She created the Malala fund that gives girls education and protection. 3,000,000

people have signed the petition to decrease the number of children without education. She is the

youngest person that received a Nobel peace prize, and she won it in 2014. She attended school

illegally, and on October 9th, 2012 she was on the bus on the way home from school when a

Taliban got on and shot her in the head. She was taken to Birmingham, England and she

survived. She is about 19 years old and wants to study politics in California. She is a hero

because she fights for what is good and she never stopped even when people tried to stop her.

Finally comes the hero everyone knows about, Anne Frank. Anne was a Jewish girl who

lived hidden from Nazi during World War II. She was afraid of the Nazis, she was encaged and

could not go outside for two and a half years. She was in puberty and fought most of the time

with her parents. She was considered a hero because she taught the world about what life was

like in her secret annex. She also taught the world about what it was like to be Jewish during the

Holocaust. She was only 15 when she died in Lower Saxony, Germany. She also inspired many

with her writing. Anne Frank contributed to society by teaching people what it was like to have

to hide out for 2 years which inspired many.

In conclusion, the three heroes I chose have demonstrated a lot of heroism through their

actions through society. A hero is someone who understands the responsibility that comes with

his or her freedom. A hero can be anyone in the past, present, and/or fictional. Society needs

heroes because heroes save or improve lives because they are inspiring. Martin Luther King Jr.,

Malala Yousafzai, and Anne Frank have demonstrated heroism by never giving up, being brave,

and inspiring many others. This is why we all need heroes!
